In the Fish Ale pub in South Qeynos there is a man named Micc Koter standing at the bar. His companion (whose name I forget) will occasionally mumble about someone "foolish going after the Paw of Opolla". When you ask the companion about it, he tells you to mind your own business, but Micc will tell him to behave. Ask Micc about the Paw of Opolla and he will tell you it is a magical item and it belongs to "some gnoll bitch". He will offer to tell you where to find it if you buy him a brandy. I had to buy 2 to get him to talk. He then says that someone calling himself Caninel went to find it in the Plains of Karana.
Caninel is located in West Karana, along with two named gnolls, along the mountains near the border with North Karana. When you talk to Caninel, he will demand 3 gems (a Moonstone, a Bloodstone, and a Star Rose Quartz) before telling you about the Paw of Opolla. He will then tell you about how when the humans from Everfrost first met the Blackburrow Gnolls, the Shaman Opolla greeted them warmly and had her hand cut off by Gynok Moltor. She placed a curse upon the Moltor descendants, the last of which can be found in under Qeynos. He tells you to ask him about the paw and also about the rings on the paw. When you find him (Vin Moltor), he will demand 3 Bottle of Kalish and a Rat Ear Pie for the paw. He will deny any knowledge of the rings and say that his father probably sold them, mentioning his father's travels in Odus. You can get the pie through a quest in Qeynos Hills, or you can kill him to get the Severed Paw. This is not the actual item, since it seems it is the rings that activate its magic. There are four rings that need to be put in the paw container and combined to get the true paw: Platinum Ring, Gold Ring, Silver Ring and Copper Ring. Look for rings with a XXX: +1 CHA: -1 stat. All four rings are known to drop from a mummy named Gynok Moltor in Befallen. The Copper, Silver, and Gold Rings can be obtained through the Shiny Rings quest in Toxxulia Forest which involves camping a fungus mutant in Upper Guk. The Silver Ring also appears in the lake in Blackburrow. Need all dialogues, /loc of quest mobs, missing quest items, faction hits if any, any other missing information. I started the Paw quest tonight and am so far disappointed. I am on Veeshan Server and I camped Gynok for 8 hours before he finally spawned. I killed him and got the Plat ring went to the bottom of Blackburrow and got the silver. Now I sit in Qeynos. I have looked for 4 hours top to bottom left to right for Vin Moltar and cannot find him. I am a 30th level Druid and I have Track so I thought it would be a bit easier. Boy was I wrong. Does anyone know where he is or what he looks like or anything that will help me fimd him so I can find the container?..PLEASE!!!!

it took me 2 days of 5hour camp times to find vin,
i had bound myself in the sewers right next to where Bait Masterson spawns, then i proceeded to begin the "wonderful" gynok spawn.. 12 hours one night (non stop) 4 hours the next day (had to sleep :) still i have not seen him :( i am convinced that there is a trigger to make gynok spawn... any ideas on that?

Th problem is coming because he don t appear in track but go on eqatlas to get the map of aqueduc and u ll see his spawn area but run a few near this place because he is coming often here but walking and running near this place and he was very easy with my druid 35 no resist nothing i rooted him doted and then nuked him while he was trying to hit me in melee ) lol

Well as an Erudite I am KOS in Kerra Ridge, but read on another site that Melixis is a different faction. So I went into the zone with SoW and invis, targeted Melixis, went to a safe spot and popped invis and conned her. Sure enough she was indifferent. So I went in invis again, popped invis when I reached her (at which point every kitty in the area attacked), hailed her, turned over the weeds quickly, then booked it for the zone with about 20 cats on my tail, heh. I don't know what level the cats are, but I'm 49 and they didn't hurt me much (though they still aggroed). I've never killed a Kerran btw, I hear killing them hurts Melixis faction and that there is no known way to raise it.
Trolls and other dark races might not have decent faction with Melixis, I'm not sure. But if you can get a high level enchanter or bard to charm her while you deal with her, she'll be indifferent. I think you need to be indifferent or better to do the quest.
As for killing Mitty, I'm pretty sure she is no longer in the game since Kerra was redone.

I camped mutant tonight got mildew on spawn one and weed on spawn 6 :)

I've camped the Mutnt three or four times for up to 6 hours and nothing. It's purely random, just like Gynoks spawn.
No idea how frequently it drops, but I imagine it is around 3%

I camped the mutant yesterday for 9 1/2 hours and never got the weed. :(

The gold ring I hear now is the most difficult to get. I would camp the Mutant tho for the Gold before I ever would the mummy. Now, that can be a long camp!

I was helping some drag there body out of befallne when the mummy spawned i killed him and there was the plat ring :)

Talk about luck, Lady Luck was on your said that day! That very seldom every happens. I camped him 6 hours before he finally spawned and then I got the gold.

Whenever I run through Upper Guk, I always stop by and kill the mutant once to test my luck. The other day, I got the guk weed for the gold ring. I was surprised and happy. A few friends were jealos of me, but the ironic thing was that within the next three days, I have had two friends who got the weed. This is very ironic seeing how from lvl 33-36 I camped the AC and I saw the same person down there every time going for the gold. You might wanna reconcider giving up on the quest and try it for a few more hours. I highly doubt that the three of us got extreamly lucky.

i camped sixteen hours for the gold ring and came up with nothing. rest of the items were relatively easy. the scarcity of the gold ring is absurd - all you do is sit there and wait for a mushroom. no danger, no adventure, no group cooperation - just a sick joke on us that keeps you there thinking it'll be the next one - like vegas!

i tried to talk to caneil about the paw after i got the quest in fish an ale and he would not speak to me about it. anyone know why? oh yeah, how long does moltar take to spawn in befallen?

Ok...I need to know if Killing Mitty will still give you the rings. I went to talk to the vendor and for some reason I seem to be KOS to them, even though I have never killed a Kerren before and they are SOLID green to me (Im a 32 lvl troll shaman). If I have to do this quest for the rings I dont think I can get my Paw. If I can just kill Mitty over and over I may have a chance.
BTW..went to befallen and lucked out. I killed the mummy in like the 1st 15 minutes I was there and got the plat ring =) guess there is luck out there for me after all!

He means that just completeing the paw part takes 8 hours. The rings are seperate quests. Go to the shiney rings link and see how long those take.

I camped the fungus mutant for 10 hours and got nothing but the copper ring mildew. Good luck on completing the quest in under 30 hours.

I have been working off and on for the Paw of Opolla for one month solid! This is an extremely long, time-consuming quest.

You gotta be kidding me. That's if you're lucky. Plat Ring or Gold Ring itself can be at least (for sure more) 8 hours.

Spent 18 ours total (not all at one time) on getting the gold and so far have 15 hours invested in trying to get the Plat.
