Ever targeted "spawn master" in ToV? can't hit it, but you can pp it and it ripostes, funniest thing ever is when i riposted myself to death on the thing.
Was hunting in Acryllia last night, and in a small underwater passage there was a worm that looks just like this, only ALOT smaller...same deal though, red, indiff con that can't be targeted.
this mob is currently untargetable and is also non aggro. Assuming he's triggered somehow, I dont think anyone's figured out how to do it. However, I have heard there are a string of in zone quests in The Deep and it's being speculated the end result will have something to do with this monster worm.

Posted:Dec 30 2001 at 4:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Guys Why Would u want them to Sue Verant if he made the whole game and expansion and u play it ? u dont want to play it anymore ?
I dont want to sue Verant hell i dont care. Im just saying that this worm thing looks exactly like the worms in dune. Could be a copyright infringement.
here is why :- when Frank Herbert wrote dune he used the term 'sandworm'; an creature which actually exists IRL, as a referance to the worms in his novels. as such when and if he put a copyright on that term (which he didnt btw cause you cannot copyright something that already exists in nature and you didnt discover/manufacture/etc). if there was a sandwurm look alike named Shai-hulud or any other name specifically connected to his work ; without prior consent i might add, then he can sue.
Westwood cant do **** because while they have copyrighted their portrayal of 'sandworms' in their game, unless verant's version looks and functions exactly(or reasonably close) like their protrayal, they have no basis for a lawsuit. i am not sure, but even if they did sue the settlement would probably go to Herbert's estate and not EA/westwood's coffers because the whole idea of Dune is licenced intellectual property.
Verant has gone out of their way to make sure their worms look similar enough to be familiar , but not close enough to cause serious legal problems.
Also they have Sony backing them...... even EA would be scared of taking on that much money and clout with such a flimsy case as potential copyright infringement.
If that's the case then Tolkein's estate would have a heyday with VI. EQ is LOtR personified... Halflings with furry feet and little mounds with round doors.. ..Orcs (in what other stories have you seen them?). A distinction between High Elves and Wood Elves. Tolkein introduced the idea that Dorfs make good miners... A vague similarity to a Dune worm hardly qualifies. Hell, Monty Python has more evidence of infringement than Westwood. ie, the Seru guards saying "Nobody expects the Seru inquisition!"
Remember Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Not just the movie, the story. That's an old tale that goes back far, far before either Tolkien or Disney. Dwarf miners.
What most people don't realize is that Tolkien himself was a professor of Medieval English Literature at Oxford University in Brittain (I believe that is the correct University). It was he and a few of his colleagues that brought such works of literature as Beowulf into the serious intellectual spotlight over a millenium after their creation. Tolkien made no bones about the facts that he got many of the ideas for his works from Medieval English, German, and Scandanavian literature.
For example, Dwarves are the Dverg from Norse mythology. The elves are either Alfar from Norse mythology or the Faerie from Brittish legend. Tolkien's elves are more similar to the Fae, because they are taller than humans rather than short and diminutive like the Alfar. Smaug had a weak spot on his breast just like the Dragon from the Sigmund/Sigurd/Sigfried Cycle (or whatever it's called). Heck, the entire country of Rohan is based on Medieval England as far as names and language is concerned. Theoden is old english fore "leader" or "chieftan," and Orthanc translates to "intelligence, understanding, or mechanical art." As far as races are concerned, the only really original one was the Hobbits, whose society was loosely based on rural Brittish society of the Victorian age, or so (probably get some arguments to this one). Contrary to popular belief, Tolkien did not create orcs, goblins, trolls, dragons, etc...these all existed in Northern European legend and folklore for centuries before his writing. Tolkien just made sure that we wouldn't forget about them. I'm not sure, but I think the Balrog might be completely original, as are Shelob and her spidery kin.
This is not to down Tokien's writing in any way. He knew exactly what he was doing when he made use of existing literature to draw from. By doing so, he made the stories resonate within us by harkening back to a more primitive time. I could go on and on about this, but I'm sure y'all have gotten bored with it by now.
