MQ = Multi-Quest. One person has one of 2 quest pieces to turn in, another has the other. Both turn in to the quest giver and the person doing the quest gets the reward. The trick is that the person receiving the reward has to turn in last, and some quests have been nerfed so that MQ'ing doesn't work anymore on those particular quests.
Killed several of these for Ranger epics: not too tough despite the death-respawning, provided you have decent crowd control. Only real problem was regenerating mana fast enough, I had to twitch the chanter at times so he had enough mana to keep all the adds mezzed.
We had a Cleric run up to their island, then pull them down to the previous island using their invulnerability spell to survive the fall... most times we got them singly or if there was an add it took a while to path to us. We'd cleared that island first for keys, so no idea whether the mobs on it would add if they were still spawned.
The final spawns enrage when low on health, BTW, so be prepared to stop meleeing when that happens.
Did this tonight (Jan 24, 2004) on Povar server. Some things to keep in mind... 1. Kill all regular mobs on an island before you kill the "special" named mob. Killing the special named mob usually spawns the key giver (the lunatic) who is non-kos to all... till you touch one of his bunnies (any mob basically). He hits for 2k+ and wiped our raid of 16 people, average lvl of 62, in about 15 seconds (the first time we tried this. We learned our lesson the hard way). 2. The griffons and pegasie (what is the plural for pegasus anyway?) spawn in a 1-2-2 fashion. That is you kill one, 2 spawn from him. Each of those will spawn another (like black reavers), meaning from one pull you will have 7 mobs to kill. 3. When we were finished clearing pegasus island, we took a tally and found that we had looted 10, yes 10, Swirling Sphere's of Color. That means the only reason the MQ sells for 10k on Povar atm is people don't go there that much, b/c we had enough for every ranger in the guild, including alts, and some to sell MQ for guild bank. 4. The final mob on pegasus island you have to kill to get your keys for the next island is The Keeper of Souls. He death touches the first player to aggro him and then again every 15-20 seconds on who has aggro at that time. I volunteered to take the first DT, since we were there to get my epic and we did just that. Only one other tank took a DT before he was down. I was DT'd before I even got in bow range (250 range with gear I was using on this raid). 4. Look up what you need for the various class specific quest pieces BEFORE you go. It goes a lot smoother if you can say "Yes I need that" rather then "AFK while I look on the web..."
Other then that, have fun. An interesting, if not tedious, zone. Also, the keys are NOT no rent anymore, levi does NOT work anymore, and Call of the Hero does NOT work for moving a stranded player to another island if they don't have the key. Good luck on your epics.
ok ..my guild will support me if i set up a raid to get what i need. can anyone that has done the ranger epic let me know what i need to do, specifically to get the keys to progress to the fourth island? about how many groups i will need, anything to be aware of, and just general good advice if possible. thanks in advance Reyes Odysseus Ayonae Ro

oh... i forgot that swirling sphere of colour i ll need to complete my ranger epic quest (i know, my signature mentions me as cleric...), is it multiquestable ?? it s the ONLY real hard part of the ranger epic :)
Hole can be done with one group with lvls 52-65 in it with the 52 rarely getting ANY agro at all. We had an SK, a monk, a chanter, a druid, a ranger, and a cleric. Took less than an hr to get down to Jaeil the Wretched. And only took like 2 mins to wipe out Jaeil the Insane. Easy NP!
I guess if you are talking ease of fights and getting there, this part isnt, but of all the parts this is one of the easier to obtain with nice guildies. Boo! jade reaver the crappiest part of the epic!
Easiest way for SOE to cut down the Ranger/Druid bottleneck is to put a nice little NO DROP tag at the end of the Jade Reaver. It would take away (although really tick off) the farmers and ensure the Rangers/Druids are actually DOING this part of the quest. It will never happen, but just a nice thought.
That wouldn't fix that problem unfortionatly. Then you would just see alot more WTS Jade Reaver MQ like you do with the mage's Pegasus feathered cloak all the time. Although it would be fair play to see a mage saying WTT MQ Jade Reaver for MQ Pegasus feathered cloak - lol
How often do the mobs on these islands spawn? Need to know of I need to come back the next day to get more than one ranger their epic piece...etc. Thanks!
I am hoping to go to PoA and get this bad boy for my Ranger Epic. Is there anything special about the Essence Tamer Griffon? i.e. do you need resist gear, does it HT, special attacks, etc.?
Yes, the Essence Tamer Griffon is a triggered spawn, and a part of the ranger epic quest.
The way the mobs work on this island is that you will first see level 52 mobs. When these are killed, they split into two new mobs that are level 54. When the level 54 mobs are killed, they split into two new mobs that are level 56. One of the level 56 mobs will be an "Essence Tamer Griffon," which is the mob that drops the Swirling Sphere of Color, and it drops it every time :)
