Anyone know if these drop High quality or medium quality skins? They are not listed but could be because no one reported them dropping them yet.

Edit: Can confirm these do no drop any pelts or skins after killing about 100 of them.

Not sure if these would attack on sight or not, but they con "scowls at you ready to attack" to my wood elf druid. I have never fought wolves and all con amibly(sp?) to me so far. Just thought i'd post this as someone here earlier said these coned amibly to a drood.
EASY FOR A RED CON
# Apr 03 2005 at 10:00 AM Rating: Decent
These con RED to my level 13 wizard, but I can take out them with a Root followed by Nukes. My root only holds for the first nuke, sometimes the second, but when they break free they don't seem to do much damage. I can survive the solo fight with about 60 to 80% of my HP's left. I'll med and regen my mana and can build some serious XP up quickly.

These /conned dark blue tonight to my 18 Warrior tonight. Definately an even con, no real problem, but might be problematic for younger folks.

I had one con even to my lvl 17 mage. It was not a difficult kill for my water pet and a couple Shock Of Flame.

I began hunting these at level 15....when all were white to me. If you are a druid and use snare, swarm, root, ignite...and then just keep working it that way you should have no problems doing it. I went from 15 to 17 on these things. They probably are underconned.
Coyote Skull
# May 06 2002 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know of a use for a coyote skull (magic)? Maybe coyote head, can't remember..? I had a gorge hound drop one last night to my 14 Bard with my 16 Druid partner on Test. Can't find anything in the searches for it...

Its for a newbie armor quest, rogue I think out of either Freeport or Rivervale

Freeport Monks need coyote skulls for n00b armor quest - not sure if these will work too.

Undercon's

Be real careful when fighting these things. My 16 monk can take on even gh's but, and almost take a yellow with a few buffs, but for some reason the blues kick the crap outta me died twice so far fighting blues so be careful!
As a Druid

I rode these honey's from 17 to 18 in less than 6 hours. I Started by using snare, Always making sure that there were no cats around,(why do they hate my Halfling so much anyway?) I used Lightening and I pull them back to the zone to the gorge. I usually had to snare them twice, but when they turn to run, you just melee them. Twords the end of lvl 17 I was ending up with a bub and a half of mana, I also found that hitting them with a dot (swarm) didn't seem to hurt. I usually never get poisoned and if I do, it wears off before I can cet up the hill to med.

Soloing these at 22
# Jun 24 2001 at 11:37 PM Rating: Default
I have a 22 Level Shaman (almost 23) and these are conning Blue to me and still giving decent (but not great) exp. Crag Spiders give more Exp but more of a fight also.
Easier to Solo than Crags
# Jun 24 2001 at 5:16 PM Rating: Default
I'm a level 20 shaman, and these solo pretty easy. They hit hard, but I don't start meleeing until after I've dotted them. I'll throw in a DD if the fight looks tough. I've never had them resist a DOT, although occasionally spirit strike won't hit as hard as usual. Frost rift gets a full hit, though, my guess is they don't have cold resistance. They still con blue to me at 20 (never green), and they leave me with much more health and much more mana than when I solo a crag.

con Dblue or Lblue to my level 23 monk and he can solo 10-15 before needing to use mend to full and usually by the time i'm finished with the 10-15 i can use mend again

worth it for the exp

Came across these with my lvl 21 monk and was getting roughly one blue bub for every two i killed, shame the loot is very poor
Nice XP but aweful loot
# Jul 18 2000 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
I lvled from 17 to 20 on these guys. They give great xp for a druid but the loot is terrible...the odd spell research bits but mostly just meat.
As a lvl 19 druid I could solo 3 per full mana bar, buy using one as a pet and getting it to kill the other two :)
Gorge Hounds
# Jul 17 2000 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
They do hit pretty hard but I can solo them easily as a Bard of level 18, and they do give good experience. They /con up about like a griffawn (high blue) but are far easier- I tried to fight a griffawn and headed for the zone in very short order, but can take these out simply enough, as mentioned. Just thought I'd share this anecdote, for what it's worth.
Magic
# Jul 08 2000 at 6:18 AM Rating: Decent
Druids (at least) beware though- these things have UNBELIEVABLE magic resistance. I commonly had to snare them 3 times, and then had some of my ignites hit for 6 dmg, or something equally ridiculous. And that was at level 17 ). Good exp if you can drop them though.

Aggro to Druids
# Jun 02 2000 at 7:47 AM Rating: Decent
I have been KOS to these many times and I am a druid. They act differently than the other wolf breeds to druids. Druids beware...
RE: Aggro to Druids
# Oct 29 2001 at 4:31 PM Rating: Default
They act like the wolves do. If you hunt them they aggro on you every chance they get. I'm a lvl 23 Druid hef and never hunted wolves or the gorgehounds and can safely med in front of them. They have conned amiable to me since I started into the zone back at lvl 12.
pelts?
# May 22 2000 at 1:39 PM Rating: Decent
After getting myself a PGT yesterday I went down to the plains and whacked a couple of these with my lvl 18 bard. Only problem I had was running out of stamina dual wielding PGT and Screaming Mace. Was fun when both procs went off and str was 142. Want to know if they drop pelts of any kind? They seemed a lot easier than the Griffawns that sent me running for zone.
RE: pelts?
# May 08 2001 at 5:44 AM Rating: Decent
I killed about one hundred of these in group and got not one pelt of any type only got meat words and runes in decending order of frequency the last two being far behind
Great solo exp
# May 20 2000 at 10:40 AM Rating: Decent
I have been here soloing these gorge hounds since level 17. I am going up at least one bubble per hour, even now at level 20. (For a paladin, that's great!)They do agro easily, so taking on even 2 better be done near a zone border!
good soloing
# May 08 2000 at 2:01 PM Rating: Decent
these are the best exp for alevel 14 druid just pick a yellow and kite it till you are low on mana thistle yourself and turn around finish it off, it only took me 3 hours to get to 15 on a diet of gorge hounds exclusivly
Ack
# May 04 2000 at 10:26 PM Rating: Decent
These things shredded my 18 paladin with 36dmg every hit and possibly double attack! Good thing I had a group and LoH
Great Exp
# Apr 17 2000 at 12:39 AM Rating: Decent
I hunted these things from lvl 16 to lvl 20 almost exclusively. They may hit like a Mack truck, but I noticed significant exp gain with a HYBRID. If you're lookin to solo something, give these a try.
Be warned
# Mar 24 2000 at 2:20 PM Rating: Decent
Treat these as if they con 1 color higher than they appear... If it's blue treat it like a white ;) That goes for Casters and Hybrids (Wiz and Bard so far for me) at least. It may be different for a Warrior or Cleric.
Nice to Druids
# Feb 29 2000 at 11:12 AM Rating: Decent
Although these dont look upon druids amiably like other wolven breeds, they will not attack a druid unless attacked or if they see you fighting one of their own.
