Took him down with a 55 druid, a 40 ranger and a 37 wizard. The druid snared and kited while I followed behind slashing at his ankles. Took about 20 minutes of controlled kiting.
A 56 war and me cler48 was farming HGs in RM today when the war came back with 1 HG and this bad boy. I rooted the HG and we focused on him , I had to Complete Heal the 56 war 3 times before we killed him. He have a lot of HP, near 10 K, and hit hard ; he dropped 30 or 40 pp, thats all.
i just looted a essence of rath and can't find any info on in is this the same as the scent of marr? the essence of rath is a stackable item and has the graphix of a tresure chest in your invitory any idea on this would help thanks
Ok, you're all about right. but he was nerfed not too long ago and now has about 7k hp and hits for 121 Max, Broog has to be the most fun in RM. he really is a change from the boring old HG, took my group 12 minutes to kill the guy after he agroed on me ( the puller at the time ) a giant skel also came and killed our other warrior with Broog, if that skel hadn't of added there would have been no deaths. well 12 minutes, numerous Wakizashi of Frozen Skies procs, wurmy hits, centi ss hits, he fell. our cleric went OOM at about 30% HP. we got himan the skel, rezzed the warrior and everything was fine. he dropped over 40pp and a pearl, not much but who cares he was fun. back when i had a 60 chanter i Dire Charmed him, he 0wn3d HGs, great farming tool, the Brother guy wasn't up so i couldn't kill him :(.
I hear a shout saying HG train and Broog to zone, seeing the train I successfully pull Broog and only Broog. After about 15 min of kiting on OOM I had him down to 25% hps when this oh so wonderful group comes along and aggros him... well to make a long story short I found out how hard he hits and how quickly he can kill me. If it wasnt for that wonderful group (you know who you are) he would have been dead.
Just as a note, when someone says "Please move I have been kiting thru here" move, dont start beating on things it only causes problems for everyone.
Yes a 46 Druid can solo this monster with enough time and patience.
Hehe Same thing happened to me yesterday. Was sitting at the Feerott zone, full mana, full hit points, pet out, equiped with 2 swords and buffed. A Druid trained him to the zone with no warning. I proceeded to fear kite him. Dooming Darkness, Heart Flutter, Heat Blood, Invoke Fear. Kited him all the way from the zone to the Bug area when I ran our of mana. Needless to say he had no health showing yet he still killed me. Hehe Oh well, revenge is going to be sweet. :)
Ofcourse our necromancer pets 39+ can duel weild swords. I found this giant the other night and slayed him with my 55 augment spell, on my 49 warrior pet. I simply casted one invoke fear, one dooming darkness, a Bond of Death and he was done for in only about the time it would take for me to slay two normal HG's. He was a breeze and I was dissapointed in not getting any real loot short of a silly, amber stone.
Me being a necro i have more mana then a druid and my Dots do more damage i used Cascading Darkness which does 1100 dmg then Ignite Blood which is another 1200 dmg sicked pet and took about 5 min to take him down no loot worth anything.
Killed him last night. Must have about 10,000 hit points. Used ES Vambs mostly and saved mana for root spells. Took about 20 minutes to take him down. Got 1/2 blue and 5PP.
I soloed this guy yesterday as a level 59 Druid, didn't even use a bub of mana. Wrath of Nature off my epic, Drones of Doom off my bracer, immolate, and my best root kept this guy in place. I simply medded while i waited for drones and immolate to wear off, stood back up and casted them, sat back down. yeah, i could have used winged death, but hey, i'm lazy. Conned blue to me and got ok xp. Looted a topaz, FS warhammer, and about 29pp.
Level 49 Bard with a walrus skin drum. used chant of fire, chant of ice, chains and Accelerando. Took about 20 minutes or more ( wasn't keeping track) Droppped HG toes, mithril earing and words of somesort plus some plat. Kinda disappointing after all that work.
Typical Verant creation of a mob that is too hard to kill. They just love frustrating people.. especially when one idiot uses the whole zone to kite him and he ends up killin drunk medding oom 50th level paladins like me... Verant can stick it up their.... stick it up their.. stick it up their... :(
He isnt too damn powerful. A group of five of us killed him and a Hill Giant add we picked up along the way...and he was trained on us without warning *grumbles something about panicky druids*. Of course, he did beat the snot out of us in the process, but no one died. One of the benefits of having a cleric and shaman who know what to do and when..:)
So far I don't see that anyone has gotten loot of any note off this mob. And a lot more are saying that he's not even worth it. I would like to say that the exp IS worth it. At lvl 49 I solo'ed Broog (took me 20 min) but gained 1.7 blue bubbles of EXP in the process. If I ever see him again you can be sure I'll be running at him and not away.
Thentor Thelonious 49th lvl Bard Warriors of Wrath.
This guy has about 9000 hit points me (45 Pal) and my Druid friend (46) took him out. He hits for 130+ and breaks root fast and you can not keep him argoed to one person, took us about 20 min to drop him and hardly any loot. BIG WASTE OF TIME.....

My group killed this guy tonight, it wasnt that easy, but it would have been easier had one of the tanks been capable of really holding aggro. I tryed to avoid this guy, and just as I had ran to the other side of the hill, and had my sights set on a lowly cyclops, I get hit for double 100's+, kicked, and bashed. Shouts had been up about this guy being trained on random groups there, and we had decided to stay clear of him, so I shouted "Broog to zone". My group, always up for a challenge, opted for me to pull him to them. I got there with about 1 bub of health, got my heal, and we started at him. Snare never stuck, but luckily, fear and 1 darkness, did, so went we chasing him all over the zone. This guy has a TON of hitpoints, about 10k judging from the length of the fight. Every time fear wore off, he would aggro our necro (this is why I said that it would have been easier if he could have been taunted onto a warrior). The necro would get interrupted a couple times before he could get another fear off, and our healers, cleric and druid, spent a lot of mana keeping him alive. At about 2/5 of his health everything fell apart. Healers were OOM, necro couldnt cast because he'd die in a couple hits, and all the tanks except me were at less than half health. The necro just ran for his life, and my frikkin sow wore off, luckily, the pallies were stunnin him enough for me to stay close enough to keep hittin him. Finally, when it seemed inevitable that at least 2 of us would die, if not our entire group, Broog Bloodbeard turned away to flee. We promptly finished him off. Our necro had less than half a bub left. I looted, and got 2pp and some words, and the split was 1pp and change for everyone else. Was really fun to kill him with noone dying, but why he spawns at all is beyond me. I reccomend not trying to take him on with a normal HG group of low 30's-mid 40's and immediately after seeing him go to /ooc and get people together to just get rid of him fast, so everyone can go about their business. My group consisted of the following: 40 necromancer, 33 druid, 34 cleric, 41 paladin, 38 rogue, and 39 paladin. Thanks for letting me share my little experience with you.
Well I dont blame you for doing that all Tenedar. That zone has alot of good people come to it but the a-holes always stand out. Good for you taking that bad boy back to the jerk that trained you! I would have done the same.
I have been in Rathe for quite some time, and have NEVER see this guy....until last night. Mage (40) and I (44 Druid) zoned in to Rathe and was pleasantly greated with Clarity from a medding Chanter. Off we go to the HG hill and was UNpleasantly greated by Broog. Some higher Druid couldn't take him (most likely didn't want to) so we got stuck. It took us a long time to flatten this sucker and were very disappointed at the loot. So off we go to pick off some HGs. We finished off one (Clarity gone by this time) and a Bard comes running..right to me..with an HG on him. I had already snared a fresh HG when I see this OBVIOUS, DELIBERATE train. It was none other than Broog again. I parked the HG I pulled next to the Mage and dotted him up. Then I set off to return Broog to the Bard and his group. I was called every immature name in the book but persisted to give them back their pull. My partner dropped the HG I had pulled and the Bard and his group zoned. So we had to work Broog over a second time. This time it took us about an hour as we were both VERY low on mana. He fell, and /ooc'd the zone: If Broog spawns again, we aren't killing him a third time. 8) What a wasted evening. And I have now been added to another ignore list by my duty to call dumb people just that. hehe
That training bard wouldn't happen to be Aphasia, would it?
This insult to bards everywhere actually charmed two pulls away from my group. When we told him to knock it off, he /ruded, petitioned me, then proceeded to train us with 2HGs, 1 cyclops and 2 giant skells. Fortunately, I was grouped with a lvl 38 shaman and a lv 42 pally and we were able to take them all out, but as we finished the last one, here comes Aphasia with 2 more HGs and drops them on us. He then circles around to /rude us again.
He did this 3 more times before we were totally oom and had to zone. The whole time I shouted to the zone what a jerk this guy was and to watch out for him.
Later, talking to a GM who had responded to my petition, she said she had seen THREE of his trains, but hadn't noticed him /rude each time. She claimed that even after witnessing him running by and dropping 3 sets of creatures on my group, she had no way to determine if it was intentional or not!!
And since he petitioned me first for telling him to pull his own giants, she wouldn't do anything to him. As a matter of fact, she told my group to stay away from him. Note that the whole time I never used any profanity and was very civil to the GM. Yet APHASIA, the HG training bard, is still in the zone every day.
Anyway, sorry this has nothing to do with Broog, but I thought maybe someone might notice this and be able to get this guy banned if he's doing it to everyone on Povar.
I have also experienced this named bards venomous spirit.I casted same time that he attacked HG at rathe and that biggun agroed on me.So i finished HG and sended tell to him that im sorry, that instant he stormed to me with 2 hgs and oocing what a dumbass ksler i am.Little he knew about dark powers Innoruuk has granted me.I wasted both giants with ease then this guy got really pissed at me.Next thing i know he wants to duel me.I told him that im lom can u give me a sec to med.Sure.result was one more soul to feed my everhungry god,Innoruuk. But seriously stay away from this guy.Aphasia is most griefest of grief players ive met in this game but luckily hes not very good playing this game...
I'm a 50 shaman, a necro asked me to help kill Broog. I dont know what level the necro was but he seemed capable. He only ever resisted one spell from me which was a root. I dropped one plague and about 5 ebolts. I dont know what the necro cast altogether but he ended up having to gate before it was over. Once I was oom, I'd run up away from him then canni once and run again, rinse repeat. I didnt have chloro up unfortunately, wasnt expecting such a battle. I ended up at one bubble and he was at less than a bubble. I then yelled for some help and a group helped finish him off. It took a long time, I was starting to worry about sow going. His loot: 47pp some toes and essence of rathe (mage research) I'd say 10k hitpoints is very possible. Still a fun battle even though no reward
I killed Broog tonight having no idea that I was in for a marathon. Having never heard of him I was excited to see a named HG after hunting in Rathe extensively. As a level 50 druid I have little trouble med-kiting the tainted and corrupted starting with 40% mana so I snared with 40% and rooted, snared, and dotted....and dotted.....and dotted! 3 dots in and this HG still has around 4 bubs of health so I am completely astonished! I made sure to keep him snared and rooted when possible (was resisted many time)! Even my lvl 49 dot was resisted a couple of times. Anyway I settled in for the long haul and must have dotted 14-16 times and rooted maybe 30. The kill took almost 30 minutes and perhaps would not have taken so long had I started FM but it seemed I was rooting at times just to buy time to get another root off. The kill took forever and the loot was 33pp and an Ivory! I was expecting some uber drop! ACK!
Me and a friend took him down tonight. We are both lvl 51 Druids. It took several castings of Drifting Death to take him down. Between the two of us, it was no problem, but we were both suprised at the huge ammount of HPs he had. He dropped a Gold Ring (junk loot), and a stackable bottle named, The Scent of Marr. I haven't found any info on this yet, so it's getting placed in the "to be looked into" bag in the bank.
He popped on me last night while helping some guildmates get some cash together. I as a 49th paladin had a 38th warrior,39th bard,36th druid,36th shaman and a 39th cleric with 40 mana I kept the aggro on me the whole time and with LoH was able to all live and took him down but it took all the healing and mana from everyone so melee is possible but really not advisable I have 910 ac and he was dual hitting me for 140 or so and was taking me down fast was fun but a total waste of time for a loot standpoint but look at it like this, the younger ones have bragging rights not many have hehe :)
I lv47 necro saw it last night, i was at 40m, and hit it, took about 5 min to take it down to half life, but a cylop came in hit my pet, so I gated. After I came back it wais still there, I med up, and took it to half health again, but doom darkness didn't stick on the third try, so I had to run away again.
I was pissed so I called 4 other friends, and killed him less than 2min, I think it has more hp than the shardtooth in GD.
