Going after him during game nighttime makes it quite easy. Clear the spa room on entry. If PH aggro's kill her. If PH is down her respawn is between 8 and 22m. When she repops you just wait. After she respawns ~11x (22m, same as max cycle if killing her) Xicotl pops and will auto aggro on you if you are ITU. I waited for him behind the fake wall in spa where I didn't aggro the gargoyle's and was in ITU (Lasna was up in Spa as well as several other undeads). He popped on either the 10th or 11th repop of the mistmoore guard. You can target her to count.. when she spawns she buffs herself with cleric buff. When she repops the buff clears and she does it again on a 2 minute cycle.

I'm assuming some people still want to do the epics just for fun (like myself), so I figured I'd put up a comment here. Xicotl's PH is still a mistmoore guard in the spa room at Mistmoore Castle. DO NOT kill it. As stated previously on this mob, she will despawn and respawn on her own every minute. I sat there with my 52 paladin in the corner (in the actual spa) and just watched her pop and depop. The mobs that spawn in the spa do aggro, but for whatever reason the actual PH didn't come after me, so I had the luxury of sitting in the room and waiting.

Note: widely believed at this time that Xicotl spawns on his own, and no need to kill a placeholder.
Just wait. Don't kill anything. Within minutes he always spawned for me. This was on 3 different occasions as i kept ******** up turn ins. Maybe a long time ago it took hours and killing lots of place holders. Now though its really easy. This of course took place in the spa room in castle mistmoore. I waited through the walk through wall just behind where he spawns. I have no idea if he would spawn if you sat on top of his spawn point or cleared room. I never had to do any of that.

Rickymaru's post is the winning post here, at least on TLP servers with the original Mistmoore (Phinigel in this case). If you do not touch the "a Mistmoore guard" PH, it will depop and repop all on its own about once per minute. I noticed this behavior when I was prepping to kill Xicotl on my paladin, solo, and he depopped in front of me and repopped as a Mistmoore guard.
If you KILL the PH or Xicotl himself, though, it sets off the standard ~19 minute respawn timer. In short, be patient and just let the PH cycle all on its own. You'll get ~19 chances in the same span of one killed-off PH repop if you just leave it be and monitor the repop. This is easy to do because You'll see the "a Mistmoore guard" buff with Lesser Shielding every time she repops, which is about a minute apart.

I only had to kill two Mistmoore Guards before he spawned for me.
Throwing it up here since I know I had problems finding the actual spawn rate of the room, so putting up here. It seems the room is on a separate roughly 20-25 minutes spawn timer or so. The actual spawn rate of the Placeholders is roughly 8-15 minutes. The actual average seems to be random.

been here 2 days in spa bath room killign phs for chezna laroon, of course she doesnt appear at all, but this guy does, of course we all KNOW when my pally is higuh enpough to come here this mob will never be seen again

ive been at this guy for 2 or 3 days now and have yet to get him to spawn! ive been to the mistmoore spa room and killing the mistmoore guard thinking that that was his placeholder im not sure so im totally lost.

I pulled the entire jacuzzi room and he popped up just as I was starting to AE nuke them down. I'd estimate from 2k to 4k hp, resists weren't anything spectacular it seemed. 7 min rot timer on his corpse.
You can tell which of the spa rooms he's in because it doesn't have a fake wall across from the door. It's totally solid, but the other room has a passageway. Just run along the walls to test it.

there is only one spa room in the zone... and it has a false wall in one corner... killed xicotl there twice today with a couple of pallys...

Killed him yesterday Was Easy for a 56 pally to solo but all the mobs were beating on me.
I got down to 30% and loh.
Wasnt good enough didnt have time to cast.
So was down to 30% again and i figured i was going to die so i looted the hilt and tried to make a run for it
Fell down on the floor and died
when i summon my corpse had the hilt
Now got to go finish this

Just a head's up this spawn can be frustrating. The placeholder for Xitol is "A mistmoore guard" which appears at the naked dark elf woman.
I personally spent 11 placeholders before I finally got him.
The fight is easy - especially if you're a Paladin hunting your hilt = chain stun the *******!
Good luck - any questions bout the Soulfire look it up my post is a pretty detailed walkthrough!

Confirmed, kill the naked dark elf and he spawns.
Very amusing that this guy shows up on alla's after I'd camped him for a week straight, and finally took him down. He pops in the spa room on al'Kabor, in the place of A Mistmoore Guard. I was just about to head in to clear the Princess and Advisor when I hear "Xicotl's hand is covered by a soft glow." WOOHOO! He was up, and a piece of cake for a 56 Pally to solo.
I chain stunned him into next week and took him out before he could summon his pet. Looted the hilt, and peaced out for Splitpaw for the turn in to Bro Hayle. I'm now te proud owner of Soulfire, and I can't wait to get going on the next section of the quest...
Good luck to all you Pallies out there. It's a long camp, but it's fun farming all the other drops in MM between Spa Room spawns - I even got the BP from the dude in the tower lol! HAVE FUN!

Wiped out the spa room about 3 times and this guy popped.
absoutly confirmed that X spawns in the mm spaw room took 3 rounds of respawns in the spa and after killin around cuz of boredom all buffs got dispelled except 1 which left me with only 7.5khp i decided i would train to spaw room and i saw him and took him eaisly even with the 10 extra adds
Got him to spawn for me tonight. Took about 6 hours. I stayed in the spawn room and killed the naked Dark Elf female guard over and over...took out about 40 placeholders before he spawned. Dropped him in under 1 minute solo with no buffs.

He is back in Castle Mistmoore Killed him today after 8 place holders. soloed him easy just use a invis potion to get to him and then just root the place holder "a mistmore gaurd" and its np to handle this guy at level 49. and be sure to bring a invis potion to get out or gate potion most of the mobs here can root and it will be a hard run out without a SOW.
