It is weird but the orc trainer does not always show the shield on his arm when he has it. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. Don't make the mistake of letting someone else kill him just because you don't see it on him because he may still have it in his inventory and then someone else will get it and you'll have to wait all over again.

I killed the Trainer for about the 230th time today- literrally.... this was the first time I've EVER managed to get an SBS from him..... If you need a shield, ur best off buying one.... Etched Chitin is nice....
When I was lvl 17, I decided to have a go a this trainer for the first time, and lo and behold, I got the shield on my first try. Im on Stromm, and I usually see them on trains. Easy pickins if you ask me. Im gonna get a few more of these and sell them in the Bazaar.
Is the trainer just standingin a hut or something? And you just simply stroll up to him and kill him? I was thinking of getting this for a friend that needed a shield.
He's just standing right on top of trainer hill. He appears next to the cooking fire. If you see 3 orc one if is the trainer but he is a rarer spawn so you might have to camp to for him to show up.
Careful though if you are to close and he's not green he WILL agro you and he'll agro the orcs around him as well. I was sitting and he popped up and dragged in 2 orcs. He was light blue but the suprise and ganging had me running. On the up side I came back and killed him getting a nitfy magic shield

I've camped this bugger for 2 hours on one day and 1 hour on another day. Got experience for all the kills and didn't get squat for a shield. I gave up on the second day when somebody asked me if they could have a go at it for awhile. Sure I say. Go for it. Good luck. Wouldn't you know it. The little guy kills the trainer and gets the shield! So mad and upset, but it's ok. I shall be triumphant one day by gee willickers!

As a lvl 9 Warrior I held this hill with my comrade, a lvl 9 Cleric. Only once were we overwhelmed with the orcs, when we were having trouble with the trainer and all the other centurions spawned. We were there for at least 2 hours and I watched the SBS drop at least 5 times. It's great xp at my lvl, and awesome loot. Add to that that everyon loves you whn you shout out that there's a free SBS at the top of the hill!
at lvl 10 with a group u should be able to solo trainer easly. be sure to keep an even group so u have a little bit of this and that. Make sure there are no cents around u when u fight the trainer u might get killed. And don't listen to that other guy u can't kill the trainer at lvl 5. if u jump up and down the cliff the trainer will pull more of his little friends then killed u. the place the trainer walk to go get off the mountain or cliff is all the way around and their are legos, and cents spawning there and if u are really unlucky emmissary might even come. Hope this Advice Helped u in some way

We had no trouble controlling the centurian spawn on the hill. We timed the trainer's spawn rate and it was 12 minutes for us. He dropped the shield the third time we killed him. He didn't have the shield anamation the time he dropped the shield. He conned blue to me at level 13.
The good luck in soloing the Hill was to get there one night after someone else had cleared the hill. I waited for the trainer to appear, which he did. I don't remember what level I was at the time, but he was just blue to me, so it wasn't the easiest thing. But I offed him alone, so his troopies couldn't help out. The bad luck was no shield. After that, it was just a matter of whacking each centurion as they spawned. The two on the far side by the trees will not gang up on you if you take them one at a time from behind. Rinse, and repeat.
The real bad luck is that I killed him 15 times in a row one night and never saw the shield. Now that I have reached 16 he isn't a challenge any more. I still want the shield as a present for my dwarf paladin girlfriend, but...sigh. Oh, well.

Ifigure since I could use some money for my new spells, I will camp trainer hill by myself hoping that an orc trainer will drop a shiny brass shield. Well me (and my faithful pet) had been camping trainer hill for 3 HOURS!! Musta killed like 10 or more trainers, and it did not loot a shield. I was determined to get it before I log. 3am...4am...5am....finally I just decide to give up. The next day I go back to the hill, and there is a nice juicy trainer just sitting there which I attack and kill. And what do you know...it loots a SBS. I was so happy. I planned on selling it for a nice sum. Well, being a magician, I can't carry much loot, but I can summon dismensional pockets which are 100% weight reduction, no rent. Well I put the shield in the container so I wouldn't be encumbered. But, when I logged, for the first time I forgot to take the stuff out of the dismensional pocket. I lost the shield. I think the moral of this story is---always Think before you log...and don't log in the throne room in cb, for when you log in there will be 50 orcs waiting to attack you, but thats another story :)
