A Ghoul Assassin drops the Mask of Deception on progression servers prior to Kunark. I am on Agnarr and my ogre warrior got his today. Took about 2 hours of camping before he spawned and dropped the mask the first time. Appears to be his common drop. A Ghoul Supplier, a Ghoul Assassin and another non named froglok spawn in the store room. When you climb up the ladder and look into the room the assassin is the right spawn and the center is the supplier. The far left spawn is unnamed. Both the supplier and the assassin ph's are on a 23.5 minute timer, so slow camp. Even if you're not a rogue or bard all classes and races (dark elf?) can click it from their inventory giving them the illusion buff dark elf. It's great for going to Neriak or for big races to "shrink". However warning! Big Races can now longer use slam and can be stunned from the front when in illusion just like the lesser tank races lol.
Pretty annoying camp but I got him in about 3 hours. It's hard to find him but the guide in a post below has great directions.
The assassin doesn't always drop mask unfortunately so 3 hours might actually be lucky...

had mask drop twice in 2 kills today, gratz my baby bard, and gratz rot
Anybody has a hint about the assassin? He has a good damage output, about 2,5k and it seems he quads. Was too fast, whole group wiped, even with 76War, 2,3kAC, 16kHP the cleric and Dru couldnt cope with the damage output. Is it possible that he dispells the slow after a short period?
Tried it with 75clr,75dru,75enc,76war,75rog,75bst. Any hints?

LOL...you fought the Fabled version.
1) Zone into Lower Guk..
2) Go to Dead end, Turn right.
3) Run a short distance, till you come up on a little water stream, Turn right and follow around till it dead ends... (you dont need Endure-Breath for this)
4) Go up ladder.. loc is +1015 -135
5) Turn to the left and you'll see a fork...take the left way.
6) When you come to room, go left (you'll see bats)
7) When you see a small room with Skellis in it, your almost there.
8) You will come up to steps, keep going forward till you see a table with 2 chairs. Turn left
9) Then, you will see a ladder going up, this is the Assassins room. loc is +636 -732
10) now kill!!! :D
I really hope this helps, i seen no info on how to get here and im sure someone could use this one day :)
btw: I got him to spawn on the 3rd set. dropped mask and my wifes baby bard looted ftw :D

After a few minutes of studying my old EQ Atlas maps, I find his guide starts at zone in “Câ€. I also wrote this, trying to describe the route strictly by the map passages and what memory I have from Guk from 5 years ago lol. I plan to head in a nab one for a new bard of mine, so I’ll try and remember to come back to confirm/refute the route, and you should have turn by turn directions =).
From zone in, head down the tunnel. You come to perpendicular intersection. Take the right.
This tunnel has no branches. You’ll drop into a small stream. Swim right.
Swim until the very end of the stream. Facing the end, jump out the left side. This is the “bedroomâ€. It has two exits, take the left one.
The next room you enter, hug the left wall. In the next tunnel it takes you, there are Greater Ice Skellies in a dead end room on the left. Walk past it.
You come to a sizeable room. Head straight across to the end, turn left and you should see a ladder. Climb up and you’ve made it to the Assassin Supplier Room.
Edit: Totally worked. The vampire bats saw through invis, but I brought a 51 necro. No problem to clear all the way there, but unless youre a rogue, bring someone. Guk is empty these days and you wont be able to latch onto someone to loot it if it drops.

I ran my 37 Rogue down to the camp, then brought in my 57 Druid. He clears the first set with ease, still at 50% mana. Assassin spawned on the 3rd respawn.

The Ghoul Assassin is definitely a rogue-type mob and he can surprise you in a nasty way.
I went to Lower Guk to help someone get their Mask of Deception a few weeks ago. We snuck to his room, and I saw his name in brackets (he was invisible, like a good rogue should be!) He also saw through my sneak/hide, so I presume he can see all forms of invis.
He dropped the mask and a few coins.

Went back to confirm see-invis. Didn't see me this time, still using regular sneak-hide. No idea why this was the case. *shrug*

7 hours camping the assassin, 2 pops, 2 dirks both times...have my lvl 15 rogue camped in his room ready to loot the mask, 30 min spawn, 2 pops with his rare both times...thats unlucky cuz all i want is the mask.
killed assasin 2 times waited 2o mins after first spawn killed mobs and then 20 mins after thant another assasin bolth had masks
the first one i killed before i knew were he spawned kinda got jumped killed him with my 61 de war realized that my rouge was still in pok
looted the mask for my war (no one else was in zone) even tho he cant use it
the second one i looted went to my 26 de rouge
i only got it cause im stuborn and i hate it when chanters in grp cast illusions on u
so this should hinder that without hurting my dark elf status

Went there with my guild to get the mask. Assassin was up and dropped in right away. Fast and easy thanks to my amazing guild.

come on This is BS been here for now 2 hours still no Assassin GRRR PLZ some one spawn him lol been reading up 30mins spawn hey or was that 30hours ??? any info on how long ty
the other week, i camped this room for 3 hours with no assassin spawn before finally giving up for the night.
finally, a week later, i came back here.. and who is up on the first pull? the assassin.
just my luck in both cases, i guess.

I went the other nite with a friend to get our masks. We waited a bit long but better late than never.
I am a 57 bard and he a 49 bard.
Most everything in there is green or light blue to me while he got exp for most of the kills. We got a late start that nite so we killed for 2 hours and never saw anything but placeholders. So we camped near the bottom of the ladder.
The next night he was not playing so I fired up my bard and figured I could atleast get mine. I went up the ladder but another bard and druid were up there camping the room. They said they had only killed one spawn and were waiting. So I went down the ladder and camped out to my mage.
After about 40 minutes of ******** around in natimbi I noticed they were not online anymore so I camped back out to my bard.
I went up the ladder and was suprised to see only the left and middle spawn up. I thought I must have caught it in mid pop or something. When I stepped off the ladder and into the room they all attacked me. They were light blue so I was not worried about it. I was hasting myself and slowing the one I was working on and not paying attention to my health. When I did finally look at my health I was at about 20%. I turned to see the assasin behind me. What an idiot I was. He had been hiding the whole time I was on the ladder and when I came up to meet the others he began to backstab me. Anyways it was too late for me. I charmed one and sent him in after the assasin while mezzing the other but he had gotten off one more BS and I was down to 4% health. I died.
I came back naked. That was interesting. I was forced to think like a bard which was good. I was arrogant the first time and tried to play tank and that was stupid. I charmed my way in using pets to do the killing for me. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I /corpse to bring my gear to me from the storage room. I healed up from the added HP my armor gave me and from the damage I took getting back naked.
I was smarter this time. I slowly went up the ladder this time. Sure enough that sneaky little assasin was hiding in wait for me again. I charmed the left placeholder and put him on the assasin to keep him busy. They all duked it out for a bit while I watched. My old pet had been rooted in place by the middle ghoul knight.
I recharmed my rooted pet and ran past him. The assasin engaged my pet so I ran to the other side and backed up to the wall. The other knight had decided he would pick on me so I meleed him for a bit. When the second charm broke both the assasin and my former pet jumped down and started their death march. I charmed the one I had been meleeing and sent him after my former pet first which died in just a few hits. Then after the assasin whom I had already begun to snare.
The mask dropped from the one and only assasin I saw.
One word of advise. Don't show him your back.

Just got his mask for my lvl 2 bard. Bought some invis potions and ran bard into ent of lower guk. Then I logged my main and ran him to Assassin spawn and he was up. I then dragged him all they way to the succor point (where bard was camped) and killed him. Spent about 25 minutes getting the mask.
well on map where it says he is im there but its kind of confusing cuz there are so many levels to this place.. dunno if Im in the right place.. its up some ladder alittle room??? from looking on the pic above.. barells and fur on the ground seems like teh right room...

Ok Supplier jsut poped and I raped him... he dropped the sack (very nice hehe) so yes I am in the right place ... up the ladder in a little room with barrels
ok after 3 clearings he poped... (so like 1 and a half hours of camping) killed him no problem mask dropped... while afk he poped again.. i just gated heh no need to waste mana =)
I have been camping mask for about 2 hrs and it has not spawned anything what is the spawn time and any PH if there is one?

Hey guys I am a level 24 Halfling Rogue on Stromm. I had the Mask of Deception linked to me by a guildie, and from then on, I knew I needed one. Anyways, I want to kill the Assassin to get it and if I'm lucky, the Serrated Bone Dirk. I don't plan to do this until the Anniversary deal is over tomorrow. Sitting and waiting for a spawn that could turn out to be level 61 is suicide. Anyways, I search this discussion and found nothing regarding the Assassin's hit points, his damage output, etc. Please provide this info. if possible. Thanks.

I found success in taking my newly created (level 9) rogue into what is now called the "City of Guk" -- through its live side and on into Lower Guk's live side. Neither the frogs nor the minotaurs attacked me (even after falling into a trap and losing my "hide" status while trying to climb out). I parked myself outside of the dead side (on the other side of the basalt gargyle doors - loc p700 n565) and asked in /ooc if the ***/sup room was camped. If not, I camped my butt and came back in a few hours. When I got a "yes," I asked if I could loot the mask of deception if it dropped. Most were very kind and cooperative. And though it cost me several deaths (which really didn't cost me much, at level 9) and a few intense days of exporation, it seemed to be a good way to get the mask early in my character's career. -- For whatever it's worth. ;)

I took my 24 rogue to LGuk today with my 55 necro to farm the mask. After ITU through the dead froggies, got to an empty SR. Got my skele up and waited about 5 min before room poped. Assassin went down, no problems, had the mask first time, Woot! Then a guildie came down so I could help him with his mask, about 20 min later, pop again, assassin dead, same result, with mask, Woot again! This time though, the ghoul supplier spawned when we killed the assassin, killed him and looted the light burlap sack. All in all, not bad for an hour of work.
BTW, they all conned green to necro at 55 and red to rogue at 24 and there were between 3 and 5 mobs in the room per spawn cycle, hope this helps, good luck

I camped him tonite with an SK, ranger, and pally. We plowed over every frog that got in our path on route to the room where he spawns. We had no trouble clearin the 3 mobs in the room every spawn. Though, we had to wait 4 spawns for the assassin to actually to spawn. The first time and supplier spawned in his place then the next 2 times a regular knight or somthin spawned. The 4th time he spawned and dropped the mask! I look so cool now lol /cheer me

He doesn't, and when he did he didn't drop masks and guises its been 1 or the other. Which makes me doubt the honesty of that post.
