Warrior here just tried to click from inventory on aradune server.. didnt work.

It only took me about 4 hours total to get the mask to drop. It dropped on the 4th assassin. The mobs spawn every 25 minutes or so in the assassin's room, so just post up there and watch a movie or kill some time on another toon and keep one minimized.

Here's a great way to enable and disable this item with a couple of socials:
Social 1: Enables DE Illusion
/pause 10, /blockspell remove me 590
/useitem 32
/lang 5
This assumes:
* you have the mask in your inventory, at the very bottom right bag slot (I don't have VoA yet so I can't do click in bag yet, maybe someone can tell me which slot number would be for an in-bag setup, assuming this now works as an in-bag click)
* that you have at least the first 5 languages, so that you can switch to Dark Elf speech for authenticity (but the last line can be omitted, it's just there for RP :D )
Social 2: Cancels DE Illusion
/blockspell add me 590
/lang 1
This blocks the buff, in effect removing the illusion if you are wearing it (and I believe it will also block an enchanter illusion DE spell) which is the reason for line one of the social, removing this restriction before recasting it. Again, the last line can be omitted at your discretion. I got the spell number from right here at ZAM, from the spell details page - the very end of the URL which says "spell=590".

Got the mask today for my bard. 2 hours killing placeholders and nothing, so I went to bed. I logged on today and the assassin was up. Got the kill and the mask.

Im a lvl 65 Bard on Luclin - Stromm.
I CAN confirm this mask IS clickable from invent, not bag but invent.

drops off of the ghoul assasin. i soloed on my 48 bard. before i did it for friends and other alts. if you want my opinion this camp will only take someone 30-120 mins and a lvl 50 can solo it to bad mask is no trade
I can confirm this can be cast from inventory as a Bard.

You can also get an item with the same effect from the shadow haven casino .. with the golden ticket and all that crap ... its hard useless and anoying .. just like a bard. . so its alose lose both ways

can anyone out ther confirm for sure that this cannot be cast from inventory on a class not on the mask...guise of the deceiver which is won from casino can be clicked from inventory reguardless of what class u are and it says brd rog equipable.... please someone that has seen another class use this mask for the illusion other than brd, rog. please confirm
I can confirm that this is NOT CLICKABLE FROM INVENTORY! I just took my 60 chanter and 32 Ogre zerker down here to check just that. Zerker looted it, tried clicking it, and got response "Your race, class, deity cannot use this item."

I think the reason you could not use from inventory may have something to do with the fact that you are a zerker and not a bard/rogue like the item plainly states

He did say in the post he went just for the sake of testing it.
The previous version, Guise of the Deceiver, was bard/rogue only, clickable by anyone from inventory. It now no longer drops, and was replaced by the Mask of Deception. A few people still wonder if the new one was inventory clickable like the old one.

Well, 7 hours and a whole bunch of 25-30 minute spawn cycles later I finally got it. Saw 2 assassin spawns, first one dropped the dirk (boy was I mad), and the second dropped the mask.
It'll be a while before I go back into Lower Guk, that's for sure.

Had one of these on my own and several friends' rogues so I thought it would be easy to get another for my new bard.
About 8 hours later Assasin finally spawned and darn EQ crashes to server select, then gives me a "character logged in" error. I get there and watch the body poof.
Several hours later, Assasin spawns but drops the Dirk.
A couple hours again and I finally got mask....sigh. That was painful.

Can anyone give a reason why the illusion might not work. i have the mask of deception for my 55 rogue and i cast the spell and i appear as a DE but when i try to enter Neriak i am alwoays attacked. Does faction have anything to do with whether or not the illusion will work?

There are multiple possibilities, let me start with the obvious one.
- The illusion fades when you zone. Each time you zone you must recast it.
- The illusion effects your faction in a positive way, but if you faction is really bad you might still be KoS, like as if you were a DE and had hunted your own kind until you were KOS. This might be casued by your diety, but do not know what diety a rogue could have that would do that, my rogue has bristlebane and it works with him and the smurfs just hate bristlebane. Also if yopu hunted way too many DE at earlier levels.
After I got this mask, I went into Neriak 3rd Gate and did the red wine quest until I was no longer KoS to the guards even without the mask.

Wood Elf rogues and bards can choose Tunare, and I think Half Elves can as well. She may be enough, since Innorruuk hates her more than any other god in the pantheon.

I play A 55 Iksar War on Solusek Ro And i Equiped a Rogue i Gave a 66 Rogue 2.k He Took Me to Guk/Lguk We Went To Room Sneak/hide i Waited 4 Mins for him to Clear room Looted And Left Was Realy Easy Mob Was Up When We arrived nobody in lguk these Days
Went in to LGuk and camped Assassin area and the bridge on the way to his spawn spot. Not really expecting any drops...purely to reap the benefits of the XP increase from this mornings patch. Anyways, Assassin pops twice in a row, dropping the mask both times...and both times the mask rotted away. Being a necro I have no use for one and no one else in the zone wanted it either. So, I would say this is common drop. Also, killing the Assassin and other two mobs is easy at level 45 for a necro...just have scream memmed to handle adds and take them down one at a time using slow/sic pet.

Hi all, grabbed this today off the assassin, my lvl 3 rogue doesnt like it yet, but in time he will, lol, also got the serrated bone dirk, and the bag off of the supplier who popped before assassin...took about 3 and a half hours, and soloed the room with my 46 monk.

Hi, Lvl 44 Rogue here. I took my friend a lvl 39 SK and a lvl 46 Cleric with me on this little mini raid. It took us three cycles of the spawn before the ghoul assasin poped. Cycle was about 25 minutes. The tough part was finding this place. It is up a ladder at the end of a hallway. Most Mobs were blue to me here. But my friend the SK fell off a bridge into the pit below. So I followed him and we had to fight our way out. I had to scout my way around to find a path out. We were both unfamilar with the area. It was quite an exciting quest. Now I will be called Fuzz Toe no longer. It is not easy to pick up elf chicks as a halfling.

The mask is his common drop. The Serrated Bone Dirk is his rare. :)

Took me 2 hours and one rez to get mask. Ghoul assassin popped by himself and I killed him before the others popped and gated with potion.
He was light blue to me at lvl 51.

Got this today off fable along with nice dager took lvl 65 pally clr to do fable hits around 909 it was good for my lvl 15 rogue

i borrowed my friend's 65 pally and mobbed this camp last night. got the MoD and 2 burlap sacks in just over an hour. gunna be a fun weekend.

Would it be possible to camp this mob as a lvl 46 druid...solo for a friend who is a lvl 30.. i planed on having him sneak it and tell me when it pops and then bring myself in by root/dot the mobs that i cant get past without aggro...could this setup work?

can troll SK use this? they cant wear it, just cast on inventory, can they?
Sorry Chake, unfortunately the mask has to be worn to be used. Thus, race and class restrictions are in effect on this item.

Actually BTW no you dont need to wear it to cast the illusion, It can be casted from one of your 8 regular inventory slots, although i still believe you need to be a bard or a rogue to cast it.
Nope, even as a bard still needs to be worn to cast.
Not a chief yet, but mine still won't work from inventory.
It casts from the inventory chief. I've got it and never worn it, yet it puts the illusion on me. Perhaps you meant that the stat increases don't work unless you put the mask on.

I was lucky to get this mask, but was so disappointed to find I could NOT discharge it, I asked many questions, and I right clicked, I left clicked, I equipped it, I put it in inventory slot, I tried all sorts of things to turn myself into a dark elf all to no avail. People told me I had to be a certain lvl to make it work, but I was already in my early 30's.
Ten lvls later I was frustrated still and finally got an answer from another bard. He asked me "are you singing?" and I noticed that I was, in fact I ALWAYS sing as I love my selos song and am a speed demon. I promptly stopped singing and whalaa, I was able to turn into a dark elf, and I could then begin singing again to turn on selos.
so, if you are having trouble getting your mask to work, take some advice from me and *gasp* make no music for a second, lol, it will work.

thats odd, whenever i'm singing and go to use a clicky item it says i must stop singing, or something along those lines
Hahaha.. Had the same problem.. Was getting pretty angry.
