I hunted these with my druid at about lvl 18 or solo. If your a druid you cant fear kite them with panic animal (which costs about 1/4 the mana) of fear you can also root-n-nuke
I am lvl 26 and yes lvl 21 is blue because things stay blue longer the higher you are. The xp pretty freakin good if u ask me. At lvl 26 when i kill 1 i get anywhere from 1 fourth a blue to 1 half a blue fighting each 1. So apparently anywhere from lvl 21 to 26 u can fight these for xp thats nice. Just my 2cp Kilnaeli Lvl 26 warrior of Vazaelle <Epic Heroes>
Level range might be a little higher than guessed here. I was on my way back to Rathe Mountains today and had lost lvl 25 earlier. When zoning through Oasis I figured the DW Crocs would still be xp green and would be an easy way to get back my level. They are easy but they still con blue at 24.
Im a lvl 11 mage (Majicakil, vazaelle) with 2 lvl 14 wars (orges of course ) we took 1 of these babies in a littl bit, my spells were resisted alotbut they have lower fire resistance so i used fire based spells, they were down to bout berserker hp which is bulb and half left, i was oom and the 1 guy went unconsious for 5 secs b4 my DD for 45 killed it luckly it wasnt resisted or he was fish bait. They spawn alot by the docks and hit for and average of 30 to 50 dmg depending on lvl. hard suckers to solo though. unless u have good nukes(spell caster) or buffs( meeleier) But i would say nukers have a better chance since they can root, or send pet then nuke to death with DoT's. Hope this is useful. Klnaeli lvl 26 warrior Majicakil lvl 11 mage Vazaelle server
I was soloing these DW Crocs as a Lvl 21 Enchanter and got into a little trouble. When I tried to run (w/ SoW), I couldn't get away. This guy kept up with me every step of the way. I died running my **** off and screaming help like a lil girl.
These guys also have unbelievable resistance to the fear spell. I could never get fear to take effect.
At lvl 18 I was soloing near the entrance to the oasis and took on a few of these mobs. Using dual wield, a pgt and a velious mace [though it does not proc for me] and Bruscos' Boastful Bellow I was able to hold my own and gain great exp. Being near the zone helped since I was always able to use Selo's to dash away. Proud member of Dragons Honor on Xegony
I think these are the most dangerous crocs in Oasis, other than Lockjaw. I wanted to see if i could solo one. I yield a Gleaming Short Sword (10dam/29delay), and a Chitin Shell Shield (15AC). People almost always say that you should go 2handed sword always for more damage... i say not. I hit him for 20, but before the croc can I attack I bashed him for 10, the clock tics, ticks, i hit him again for 19, then he bites me but I dodge, I hit him 20, hit for 15, bashed for 7, tic, tic, bite for 36, hit for 20, cast lighter healing on myself before i hit again and before i bash to make up for his damage to me, hit for 20, bash for 7... Moral of story, while a 2 handed sword hits for 29 most of the time (most are around 12dam, 42delay or so), i could hit for 20, bash for 10 (bashing causes the croc to get stunned meaning free hits!, kind of light when an orc bashes you and the screen starts to spin:), and since he's stunned my sword is fast enough (and has enough damage) to hit him for 20 again (or i can choose to heal myself since he's stunned and i wont get interrupted either). There is one catch... since I solo these... If I start with full mana, i can kill about 10 or so till no more mana, and then i have to meditate or sit to heal. The best combo?... 2 paladins on one! Have one keep taunting it while both beat it, and the one not getting hurt heals the one taunting... the fastest way to level in Oasis... beats 4 or 5 in a group with the orcs. I went from 16 to 17 in 1 hour doing this solo. But most of it was not soloing, had another Paladin same lvl as I, with shield. Oh... and if your 2 handed sword misses... i could hit for at least 3 times with my sword by the time its next hit comes. While i only hit from 15 to 20 and the 2 handed hits for almost 30, my shield does 7 to 10 with my sword... in short terms, i can hit 20, bash for 10, and hit for 20 again before the croc can even hit me once! oops long story See you in Oasis Lamini - Lvl 17 Paladin Of Cazic Thule
I'm an 18 wizard and as long as I have Sow I can root them nuke until root wears off or I kill it and back up then cast root again and nuke some more....GREAT EXP!!!!
Me (a level 14 Shadowknight), a Monk, and a druid, (both level 13-14 I think) took on one of these bad boys today in Oasis. I mistakenly pulled it just as the Monk was saying how to not pull one because they are much more difficult than their Deepwater Caimen relatives. Well we were all prepared for a long fight and corpse retrieval when I said that he was definately going to resist a Harm Touch (an orc warrior, or a orc warrior has done so before). Well the Harm Touch stuck and knocked him down into the defeatable range. Plus the exp gave our druid the little boost he needed for level 14 and his SOW spell. All in all, a good day's croc slaying in Oasis of Marr.
Some advice for any necros out there - these guys have ungodly resistance to fear. Heat blood, all DOTs seem to stick as normal, but fear just doesn't work. If you do get fear to stick, it will only last a few seconds. Don't fear kite these guys - you'll just wait your mana. DOT, send in pet, and med. After pet gets down to about 50% hp's, go in and melee until dead. Good XP like everybody knows, but way to crowded for me. Go to South Ro - much better loot and if you are a dark elf, you can sell to the dark elf merchants in the middle of the zone. Good luck all and safe journey to you.
When I hunted there when I was lvl 19, these babies conned red to me, and sometimes took out my group, so watch out and always con before you attack one of them. And be prepared to take some damage.
If you're a druid, don't try to solo these before you get the careless lightning DD spell at level 19. Its maximum hit is roughly three times that of ignite...and unless you want to be oom and trying to melee this thing to death when it's still at 2/3 health and biting you hard... I'd suggest either grouping or leaving it be. Once you do hit 19, the yellows are very easy to kite and solo. Oh.. and deepwater crocs and caimans both seem to resist snare a lot.. which can make life interesting.
I am a 20th Ranger and I still get decent Exp when I solo these guys. They do tend to hit hard and most of the DW Crocs con blue and even to me. Some are Yellow...
Any Necromancers out there, easy way for GREAT exp, i soloed these from 17-19. all you do is cast Engulfing Darkness, then Fear. as they run slow as heck let your pet attack from behind and you cast all your major DoTs. by the time you do that fear will be off and he'll be at half to less then half life, all ya do next is cast Lifedraw once or twice and then run up and finish him off melee style. GREAT exp and well well worth it. you get clarity and you can get some mjor leveling from soloing them.
Bah I soloed a lvl 21 one of these guys at 17. And I am pally. Hahhah. Well I was buffed an extra 750 hps with a lvl 49 cleric symbol and resolution, but whos counting bufss?
I've noticed the same thing. It's caused some apprehension on my part, but I've never been attacked, even if I'm engaged in battle with one of his cousins as he saunters on by.
This is a glitchy con. Crocs and caimans will never KOS anyone ever. You lsoe no faction from killing them, and they will never help each other. They are a great hunt.
