Best Part of this is .. he is completely non-aggro and doesn't run on any faction that i know of .. Everytime I have seen him I have gotten spaulders . However, to recap, he is , unlike the rest of the zone, non-aggro which is good for the rangers doing Call of Flames.
he's on beta neutral, the same faction as druid merchants at the various rings. while it is possible to ruin this faction, it's very, very hard.

Where does he spawn finally?
Left side of the tomb at the graveyard (Ailee) or at the top of the stairs near the tower (Vangor aka Mad_Pulls_I_have_never_been_at_MM_and_dont_know_what_is_a_train)?

Quite possibly the easiest rare spawn in the game to get to, considering you can invis your way there and only fight him or the ph.
Common is Crested Spalders (11 ac, 6 sta, great for all plate melee classes, including rangers)
Rare is Crested Helm (10 ac, 6 str, 3 sta, great plate melee item, including rangers :P)
Spawn time is around 25-30 mins, give or take a few. Have had very good luck with him before, soloed him twice in a row (with helm both times!) as a 34 warrior. Wasn't too tough, just (if you're a large race) bash him a LOT when he begins to get low. I suggest fighting at the very top of the stairs so you have time to finish him off as he runs down so the jail room doesn't nuke you to death.
PS- Also the man you give the maid and butler fangs to for the EBW quest, so if you have some spare time on your hands while camping him let the poor rangers who are trying to do their Call of Flames quest get it done (BTW he poofs when you do quest)

I think the Helm's actually +6 Strength and +3 Charisma. It looks really cool when worn. On Wood Elves it looks like pinkish/orange plate and shows wings coming out of the head. On a gnome it looks like a cool cilver metallic, gas-mask thingie. On some races it just looks like a teapot:-P Great helm though.

Spaulders and Helm are both not plate, for they are Iksar wearable.

Spawn time approx 23 MIN 10 SEC. Dropped spaulders 4 times before dropping 1 helm. Took about 6 hours total gettin all spawns. At level 50 I ran past the jail with nothing agroing (they cant see past the wall so they cant agro...) Sometimes the PH is harder than the Caitiff (talkin from tank PoV, not caster.

If you're hunting the jail, the caitiff is a pleasant surprise to make an otherwise boring camp good. I've solo'd him as a 33 wizard 5 times and gotten spaulders every time unfortunately. Camped the jail for only a couple hours each day over 2 days and I got him 5x, at 100pp a spaulder, thats not easy money to be laughed at, I seem to have unbelievable luck with him spawning, on the second day, I went to the jail, saw him standing outside in the GY behind the crypt, took him out right there. Came back later to see if the trains were light, found him on the stairs, boom down he went. Easy money, easy xp, and he's definitely average-weak for his level from 30-31 he's difficult to root, but 32+ and he'll be rooting real well.

The Caitiff ph'er spawned at a 33minute interval last time i clocked him.
other GY spawns were at about 21.

well actually these guys are not "really" dark elves they have the DE animation but everything in here (exculding the gargs and what not)

Nah I dont think all the creatures in here are vampires, the pale ones with the red eyes and the fangs surely are but the ones that use the normal dark elf animation are dark elves or thralls (you know a vampire bite them one time and then they are addicted to the vampire) to the vampires/Mayong. Anyway why arent the vampires affect by undead blasts?

I dont know about you, but my Ghoulbane procs on these ****'s all the time so I assume you can hit them with any sort of anti-undead spells.
Dude, your ghoulbane doesnt proc on the DE inkies.. It might proc off the little pale things, but not the inkies... I know, for I am a paladin... No undead hits the inkies, and infact tells you This spell only works on the undead...

I liked the one guys theory... A Thrall. I dont know, According to much Vampire legend A vampire can make Ghoul minions. They are technically still living, but with no will, abnormal strength. etc. They crouch like ghouls and are not hurt by undead stuff.

When you jump off the bridge to the tower, any MOB chasing you will walk back through the castle to get to the zone. this will aggro just about everything in the castle, and create on of the trains MM is famous for.

Posted: Mar 01 2000 at 11:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) pulling him is not difficult, though he has no faction, you can just kill him thousands of times, with him still being indiferent. he is found up the stairs towards the tower, you have your group stay at the zone, and pull him too the tower, then jump off the bridge and run to the zone. this is the way i found to be best.

Crested helm is his rare, spaulders are the common... The helm is very sought after by all melee classes excluding monks.. As anyone who can wear banded can wear this item...
