Here is the strat my guild used on the progression server:
We put everyone in one of the cubbies and assigned a MT and MA. MT stood at the center portal while the crystals were turned in. Once you turn the the 4 crystals (1 per surrounding "a portal crystal") Tarn spawns at the center "a crystalline portal" almost instantly. The MT then pulls Tarn into a separate cubby and melee dps and OTs follow. The adds spawn on top of Tarn so they never get close to the healers who are in the origin cubby. Caster dps start working on the closest portal in the first cubby then work around the room. As long as you have enough dps to keep up with adds you can throw some dps on the crystal in closest to melees between spawns. Once the crystals were down we set the casters on Tarn and kept melee on adds. Pretty fun fight.
The crystals had about 100khp.
EDIT: I believe our enchanter was able to PBAE stun both of the adds. Only the "a snarling feran" are mezzable, however. We killed them too fast to need mez however.
In "the wall" hallways, just enter and go to the end to the room with the portals in it. He pops when you hand the 4 crystals to the portals

Guild has taken this fellow out several times now. We get the MT/RT on Tarn, who hits like a wuss, maybe 10% of the his hits were over 600 on a full def aa 2100ac non-defensive war, and take out the crystals while 2 groups work pops. Hardest part is keeping the adds under control. = Non-mezzable [url=http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=16677= Mezzable Each hit as hard if not harder than Tarn. We take them out as they pop 2 at a time every 30 sec or so. We use 2 groups with a strong tank to work them while the rest take out the crystals asap. Once the crystals are down smoke Tarn and then take care of the rest of the adds. We've done this with single OT's on non-mezzables while mezzing everything else. The "kill them as they pop method" was way more user friendly for a 40ish raid of partial Ele geared. Your results may vary depending on how many chanters you tend to bring on your raids.
"a raging feran" - all seemed unmezzable, anyone been able to mez it? "a snarling feran" - most seem mezzable but not 100% sure. Anyone certain, and if so, what mez spells were used?

they heal tarn throughout the fight, fight defenatly reminds me of the agnar's fight i.e kill the portals and then focus on tarn who's dps isn't all that bad
I am interested in the faction that this Tarn Icewynd is on.. It is true he is referenced in the containment of a traitor page 1 & 2. He is the one imprisoned beyond the sanctum at the cost of the icy crystals, whose elaborate magic now holds him in bondage.
I am concerned of the faction hits. If the pages refernce to him. They tell of how to free him. I will do some experimenting today. Perfumed scroll fell in RS some time ago. It no doubt has something to do with one of the royal family either the princesses or the queen herself. He may or may not be a traitor. He may very simply be in love [and banished for it]. A dark secret resides here. I'll play carrier over the next few days and see who it goes to. Someone please post on the faction from his kills. Also the immediate FIRST minute of this mobs spawn. I mean does he come out swinging. If not [factioning] an ally will be able to Hail and intermediate for him with this letter dispatch.

What does he hit for? Any AEs? Slowable? Someone mentioned killing the icy crystals, can this be done before he spawns (about 5 mins according to one of the posters)? Guesstimate on HP? Thanks in advance.

This information isn't correct as far i can see. We tried Tarn yesterday and got whiped in nothing. First, there hasn't been any delay between triggering and Tarns spawn. As soon as the 4 items had been traded in, Tarn spawned and the event started. Also, 1 minute for the respawn is way to much. As seen yesterday, 2 adds spawn more every 30 seconds and are only partially mezzable.
And one question: how is this with those crystals? Stops killing those also the spawning of adds? Or stops it just Tarns insane HP regen? Would you suggest to kill the adds or just offtank/mezz till the crystals are down?
Btw, the crystals have also a lot of DPS, with 35 people VT and some elemental gear we managed to kill 3 crystals before we got killed by the adds. We had 2 enchanters with us and some offtanks.
The point of the crystals are they cause tarn to have insane regen. You must destory all 4 crystals before you can kill tarn.
Best strat for him is to off tank tarn while half the raids keeps the adds clear and the other half kills the crystals. Once all the crystals are down put everyone that you can on tarn while keeping the adds clear or mez the mezable and kill rest of the adds much like the murk guy just little easier as far as adds.
Any other drops? My guild does Earth rings soley to get Rathe drums, and this would be a much better option as its spawnable so can do as we wish. Of course, if theres other loot as well it makes it better for the other classes.
Would be nice if the drum was a semi common drop, and we could put earth rings behind us forever.
Only done it one time but i am sure there are other drops will post after we have done it more times. Seeing how glowing runes are hard to come by i am sure we will be doing this more.
