I was trying to knock out some of the Anniversary Quests and hade to PoJ. I spent a few hours in the "Hall with Many Bends" and never got one. I scrolled all the way down and saw someone post that you might get one closer to the Zone Out - second rat I killed had the bottle. :-(
There were two of us in PoJ - a 65 mage and a 52 mage - both Highelves. The rats conned indifferent to us. However, when i sat down briefly to med the nearest rat attacked. Then a second, who came within aggro range of the battle added.
A second instance of aggression occured when the 65 mage decided to kill one of the roaming guards. I sent my pet in, and then cast a very small nuke - shock of spikes. The moment the nuke landed two rats in the vicinity of the guard turned upon me. They were NOT at that time fighting either of the pets.
Thought this might be informative to some. Draw your own conclusions.
have never known them to attack sitting travlers. These mobs are indiff to all, and have no faction. They WILL help each other, and the PoJ "guards" that roam around. If you are planning to hunt these, find a room, or a palce where they dont roam. Low argo range (10-20 feet i would guess).

Stupid People bother me.... QUIET YOU!!! YOU DONT GET AN OPINION!!!
Just a random thought -- the developers should really change these guys to rabbits. At least that way, I can laugh and reminisce about Monty Python while I'm getting my *** handed to me by a rodent.
Revenge will be mine. Oh, yes.
Edit: Typo, was supposed to say "nibble." God, I'm pathetic. Heh.
My group was killing stuff near the PoT zone-out this morning, & we saw several of these rats. All were dark blue to a 46 mage. None aggro'd unless we were sitting down. They seemed a bit tougher than the other mobs, tho.
I was in a PoJ group helping a friend (not for exp. *shiver*). They conned dark blue (at lvl 54) I was talking about how easy these guys were compared to PoN Lzo camp and PoD and the clerics like "Ya, suuuure, you could never solo a darkblue, so be quiet and stop bragging". I was kinda upset by this since any half smart person knows that warrior usually can't solo anything. So, just to make him shut his mouth I said "ok, 100pp says I can solo one". He ofcourse took my bet, and told me I wasn't allowed to use any discs. I thought that was fair. I pulled, brought it back right next to him so he could see us fighting. Well, put simply...I owned the rat. I ended the fight with 30% hp. Keep in mind I only had temperance, and my gear isn't "super uber". Anyways, bottom line-these guys are very easy at 54+ =D
These rats hit for about 130 as their max damage , they proc scourge and cast sow, even though they have no mana(Theft of thought shows up as "Target has no mana to affect".
Low HP's. Can be dire charmed by enchanters and druids. I'd say about 6k HP tops. They patrol the first floor of PoJ along with sentries.
Well was duoing with a 55 Enc today (i'm a 55 Bst) in PoJ and killing these still gave me exp, and they should seeing as they were hitting for low-mid 100's
I was there last night 2/21/03 in the first cell block area and all the rats were light blue. I asked the 56 cleric in our group and he also confirmed they were the same to him. So that seems a bit odd to me.
Level range of 35 to 35 is wrong. In the 1st area, most of the festering rats are blue to a 58th toon, but all the festering rats in the '2nd area' (behind the door, but not down any stairs) are blue to 58th. If there is a 15 level difference for something to be dark blue to someone, that would make the festering rats up to 43rd level.
