If you get Identify cast on yourself while holding an item with a faction modifier, you get two lines of text. The first is the item lore, and the second (and higher) is the faction information.
Here is what I get for this item:
[Sat Apr 16 01:12:53 2011] You begin casting Identify.
[Sat Apr 16 01:12:53 2011] Your Silvery Mask begins to glow.
[Sat Apr 16 01:12:55 2011] Item Lore: Figurines for grownups, unlike dolls....
[Sat Apr 16 01:12:55 2011] This item gives positive faction to Orcakar Players.
Also, the item information in the item description says the following:
===
Item information:
An ornately decorated Orcakar figurine.
This particular model is a prized collector's item
===
And the item has a Lore tab that says:
===
The select group of individuals who know all the rules of Orcakar hold this particular figurine in high esteem. It is rumored that this is among the first trophies ever carved to play the board game.
The players estimate its age to be some ancient number, 'Like two or possibly three years old! - Garik'
===
Whether I have this item equipped on my character or not, my faction con is Indifferent with all of the Orcakar playing vendors around the table. (While I'm not invisible.) Perhaps having it Placed at a house does something with the faction too?
Note that all the NPCs playing Orcakar in the neighbourhood zone appear have this item equipped in one of their hands. Hmm. Perhaps we can finally find a way to play Orcakar with the NPCs ...
Also, if I ask Claire Nybright about Orcakar while she is playing at the table, whether or not I have the item equipped in primary:
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:00 2011] You say, 'can I please play orcakar?'
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:00 2011] Claire Nybright says 'A game of Orcakar you say? Don't you just find it wonderfully fun to play?' She pauses and smirks before continuing sarcastically, 'Oh, right. Outsiders don't get to play!' She snickers and returns her focus to the game.'
Finally, left-clicking various spots/items on the table in front of the players gives these various responses:
===
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:27 2011] The unarmored Wereorc in front of Garik stands between the grey portal and rest of the board. Perhaps this means that moving your piece from one location to another entails defeating or circumventing the other players.
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:28 2011] The unarmored Wereorc belonging to Darix appears to be piece furthest away from where its owner is sitting. Perhaps choosing your location on the table as well as progressing across the board are intertwined ideas.
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:40 2011] The armored Wereorc in front of Indy is standing between two small plots. It is interesting that there are only three plots on the table. You assume this means that they are not connected to the number of players, but instead house resources that the players must try and collect.
[Mon Apr 18 00:43:55 2011] You survey the small cloth figurine that is placed on the edge of the blue portal. Rathgar appears to deeply focused on the position of the pieces on the board. It appears as if a key to victory in this game is correctly positioning the bear, the idol and the firepot.
[Mon Apr 18 00:44:05 2011] You notice a key difference between the Wereorcs in front of Indy and Rathgar in contrast to those in front of Darix and Garik. Perhaps collecting a sword and shield for your Orc is part of this game's strategy...
===
If you hang around the players, you hear them say comments as they play the game:
[Sun Jan 16 22:46:49 2011] Indy laughs and moves a green figurine from the blue portal to his plot. He looks up to his friends at the table, 'Dere! Three points!'
[Sun Jan 16 23:19:49 2011] Darix D`Unnar stares at the board carefully before moving a small figurine from a plot to under a tree, he seems to be the only one his group focusing this intently. He begins to murmur, 'That blasted 'firepot', always ruining my turn. The wretchedness of life follows me into this board game!'
Some of their comments are preludes to other quests and tasks, if you talk to the NPC saying the words, even if there are no [bracket prompts].
There are others I will need to hunt for in my logs.
