The answer is a very simple one. This is by FAR the cheapest way for us to get from 188 [fine steel BP] to [Boots 248] GM. Also it sells back to merchants for at cost [Better not let sony see this or you know what the next nerf will be] or we actualy might make a few palt . W/o having to go through the /auction, or setting up a trader and hoping someone will buy it so we can continnue our skill up.

If someone can make this stuff on Bertox server I will buy boots and a pair bracers. Of course, a cost is a factor. If ravenscale sells for less, well.....

I've sat here and looked at the classes that can use it, looked at the effort needed to make it, and come to a conclusion. The only possible reason anyone would make this is strictly for the status symbol factor.
It's not terribly cost prohibitive like fine plate but you could easily make enough to buy far better armor in the time it would take to gather all the components and manage to get it smithed. On the other hand I don't know of any other black plate that rangers and shamans can wear though there probably is some kind. Might be nice for weddings and such though I suppose.

... the trivial levels on this armor make a reasonable progression to get to the higher levels of smithing. Plain and simple. Were it not for that, I doubt if much of this stuff would be made.
The bonus here is that everyone else gets to benefit from our trials and tribulations! This is great stuff up to the 30s for the classes that can wear it. Can you find better? Yeah, sometimes, but this is still pretty good stuff, and it looks very nice.

I was lucky enough to find a nearly complete set of this Shadowscream Steel armor at a merchant that most likely a skill-upping smith had dumped it on, in Felwithe. Each piece was less than 50 plat, average probably 25.
I quickly outfitted my little level 10 rogue in it, and he looks great in it. I'd say this is very good rogue/ranger (chain class) armor for low to mid-levels, probably you could get better around level 30 or thereabouts. The stats all benefit rogues, with at least three of: AGI, DEX, STR, and STA, along with MR on each piece.
As to the previous post, one of the first uses we put this armor to was as the wedding clothes for a 51 Paladin, on Quellious. Looked quite spiffy too.
Wearing this in low-level zones, I probably increased demand for this armor several-fold based on all the inspects and questions I got on it.

You then create a Humming Orb from
1 "wailing substance" from dire wolves (no drop)
1 "shrieking substance" from owlbears (no drop)
1 metal ring
the anvil and hammer
Then combine:
1 Humming Orb
2 Swirling Shadows (no rent)
1 medium banded boot mold
1 water
the anvil and hammer
This is Not trivial at 245
