They kill the quest for one of the best items for an Iksar Monk and don't replace it with anything...since the robe can no longer be obtained they should have at least removed the "no drop" from the item so those that have them and don't want them can sell them even if they end up going at a high price...at least then you can get one if you're willing to pay for it...how dumb...of course SOE does a lot of dumb things when it comes to this game so I guess it's consistent on their part...
Ikky Monk Has It!
# Aug 28 2003 at 10:41 PM Rating: Default
My Ikky monk has this item, wearing, it takes me currently to 21 stones, at 49 I should be 17. So, the penalty is worth the REGEN! +5 to every tick, whether it's on the fly or on the ground. True a necro would be suited, but I'm finding that when I get low HP soloing, with J-boots, I just run around while regen is working, til I get enough HP to re-attack. Meanwhile most mobs do not regen while running after me! At 60 my wgt resrtictions goes up, so the penalty will be a short one. BTW, most FUNGI take away the AGI/DEX factors important to monks, and wgt is high too! I'll keep it, seeing as it's No Drop! It's awesome looking! Pure white in color worn.
/sigh
# Apr 02 2003 at 4:57 AM Rating: Decent
Fungi would be easier to save for than wait for this to drop... and it is a Necro item imo
nice robe
# Jun 21 2002 at 11:02 PM Rating: Decent
the weight isnt really too hard to work around for a monk, at 60 our weight limit is like 25, and i think this would be worth it. after all, we run around with 10.0 pound tstaffs =P anyone know how much per tick this does?
RE: nice robe
# Oct 24 2002 at 6:47 PM Rating: Decent
I play a monk, a chanter, and a necro, and I'd love this robe for any of the three! I spend a lot of my time soloing, since I work midnights and play after work, so the regen would be AWESOME for me.
Necro or Monk
# May 04 2002 at 6:49 AM Rating: Default
What an arguement.....you think anyone here has even a small shot at getting this drop in the first place? But I can't bring my self to keep my mouth shut either.

Little heavy for a monk, but much more useful effect than the velious quest armor chest items. But if I had the choice \of this going on my monk or my necro, I'd have to go necro. The throwing would be lost on me, but it'd bring my solo ability up quite a bit. This and Zlandicars heart.....hey I can dream.
RE: Necro or Monk

The effect from the heart and the robe wont stack.
RE: Necro or Monk
# Jan 24 2003 at 11:03 AM Rating: Default
The regen from the robe and the zlan heart should stack, as you can have multiple instances of Aura of Battle, Vengenace and Flowing Thought.

# Feb 03 2003 at 10:59 PM Rating: Default
I'm pretty sure all "Worn" effects should stack as they do not eat buffs slots...

This is not true either. For an example, see Haste items. Usually the highest haste item takes control. (ie: Person has an RBG and a CoF. The CoF has the higher haste, and therefore that person gets the haste benefit from the CoF instead of the RBG.) I'm not saying that is what is happening here though. I dont know to be honest.

But all-in-all. This is a *great* Necro item. It's a little too heavy for the monk, as previously stated. The necro would benefit from this item the most of all the classes listed, from what I can see. Then Monk (even if it is too heavy), then so on.... I would usually say Monk first, but it's just too dang heavy for them. Maybe an item they can put on during downtime, but not use while fighting...That's a different way to look at it.

Actually as an enchanter I would love this item. Necros can solo with or without this since they can suck health from other mobs. As an enchanter the *only* way I get life back is to sit.. then sit some more.. then sit a lot longer yet. And the rest of the stats dont hurt either ;-).

Enchanters get lifetaps with luclin now don't they? I'd say give this to either a necro or monk. Except for places where you can actually mez mobs a chanter with epic will remain close to FM except after perhaps C2ing a whole guild. :)

Enchanters do not get lifetaps. We have manataps - some are direct manataps (ie see instant surge in manabar), some are mana over time, and some simply drain mana off mobs w/out doing anything to our own mana.

Mmmm... lifetap... that'd be sweet. :) But that's necros and SKs...

Monk or necro
# Jan 23 2002 at 11:29 AM Rating: Excellent
I am a mage and I have to say this is definately a monk or necro item. Weight is a little heavy though for a monk. I simply would not roll on this just due to the fact that there is no real benefit for a mage. If we get to a point that we need regen then we are doing something wrong.

I would opt for a mana robe and fungi tunic as a wizard. Makes a great combo... especially with Epic.

I hate to see people say "monk item" and crap like that, but this is reallt a necro item. At 55 I'd expect monks to have something pretty nice alreay... but not many necros have permanent regen of ANY type.

the fact is this robe would be great for any one of the 5 classes its usable by. also its no drop :)
monks the stats, the ac and the throwing make this an excelent pulling robe for a monk. 7.5 is a bit heavy, but at higher lvls , the wieght limit goes up for monks.
monks who pull end game zones spend alot of time FD between pulls, and if a person heals them at the wrong time, the agro will transfer to the healer. In this case it would be perfect as the monk will regen hits as he is FD. a monk or SK who is pulling should always have chloro or regen on him in end game raids.

Necros. life is mana!!!!!end of story, this is uber for necros

mages and wizzies great for when these 2 classes solo. even the best solo mage or wizzy will draw agro ocationally and this will fill their life back up in a hurry. it may not save their life but it will save down time. also dex contributes to the chance that you will continue casting after you get hit.

chanters there are a few really great chanter robes. this would be one of them. a chanter always plays roulette with agro. the ac on this robe is very hard for a chanter to discount, and the regen makes it so much better for the times when the chanter gets popped onse after the tank breaks mez, or a mob breaks charm. see dex above

fortunately this is a quest!!! it is one of the items dropped by the last mob you fight in the ring of fire quest/battle. hehe and this is just one of 5 or 6 uber items that might drop.

not always but some times you can tell who VI has this item in mind for by the order of the classes listed. this is only speculation though, just an observation. as the classes its usable by aren't always listed alphabeticaly.

Actually, Mages get a self AC/Regen buff already. Even if it stacked I'd still rather see this go to a necro. As someone up top pointed out, if a mage gets hit enough to need regen, he's doing something wrong. This would be decent for other classes at the level that ya get it, but for necros it would be outstanding.

Regen for pure casters other than necros is just icing. But with regen on a necro ya have a pure caster with pretty much no down time.

This would be nice for the other classes that can use it, but it would only be really great for a necro.

Just wondering why a lot of you think this is a good necro robe. I don't know much about necros so I was just wondering. I myself think VI put it in to mess with monks =P. Has all the stats a monk would love, but the weight....
Well, enough outta me, but plz post why a necro would like this.

Good hunting all, hope all u people out there wanting this get one. later
RE: Question...
# Jan 17 2002 at 5:54 PM Rating: Good
Most of the people are saying this is a necro robe, due to the following reasons: Regeneration...any necro knows that any type of Regen is good for them. The important DEX, this is one of the base stats that necromancers need to ensure those lifetaps dont get interrupted. Hitpoints, Necromancers dont get alot of HitPoints or spells that significantly increase HP. As for me, I think this robe is for any caster....

Happy Hunting
RE: Question...
# Jan 28 2002 at 7:38 PM Rating: Good
Dex doesnt make one bit of difference for casting, Channeling is all that matters.
Dex increases your chance to proc weapons and supposedly makes your melee skills raise faster...necros dont need dex, its another pretty + stat. Its like getting +4 wisdom on a int caster robe

My necromancer would sell the children and organs of *other* people for this robe!

My necromancer is an Iksar, and they have natural health regeneration. This regeneration gets much better after level 50, so with this robe...

Regeneration + Lich = Free Clarity 2++

I don't know how other people play their necromancers, but with me, their health and mana is in a constant state of flux. Sometimes, I actually try to give my health away, just so I get the most out of my lifetap spells. For all of those necromancers that have dreamed of using something like a Fungi tunic, well, this robe is for you!

The stats on this robe are nothing to scoff at, either. Stamina adds hit points, and direct hit points are good too, because some necromancers consider their health bar as a type of "reserve mana" bar. In other cases, a necromancer's health bar is a "reserve health" bar for other characters, when you consider the various reverse-lifetap spells (Could I get a HP buff please? The more health I have, the more health *you* have!).

The other classes on this robe could put it to very good use too, I'm sure, but I would have to say that, in my opinion, this is one of the best necromancer robes in the game for day-to-day use.

Necromancers get a line of spells, starting at level 8 with Dark Pact, and ending with Lich or Demi Lich at like 60ish that convert HP to mana, every tick. Lets say you lose 10 hp and get 15 mana, that's 1.5 mana per HP. If you get a 5point regen up, that's 3 mana per HP. The spells become a LOT more efficient with a Regen up, of some sort, which allows the Necromancer to run them longer, and milk more mana out of them, than otherwise.

This item would be good for any of the listed classes, but the Regen just screams Necro to me. I know Necromancers who would sell their children and/or organs to get a robe like this, even without awesome stats.
Moink Item??
# Jan 16 2002 at 10:10 PM Rating: Decent
With a weight of 7.5, this is most likely not an item which fits the monk the best, although the regeneration effect will be most beneficial to them.
Anyways, in my opinion, I'd say this would be best for any of the pure casters, here is my rationale;
Enchanters probably have charisma "maxed out" by now, so that not an issue. Its harder to get CHA items, so thats what they focus on...
Wizards just need the int ;)
Necros and magicians generally have low strength -not that they need it - but its still nice to have...plus regen helps them on their soloing adventures
Anyhoo, thats enough for now

Enh, might make a decent robe for chanters or wizzys. Mages wouldn't need it, or shouldn't at any rate. But with the Hp buffs and regen, this thing just screams necro. It'd be a crime to see this go to anyone but them.

Just one thing... Throwing +5%??? ummmkay.

That should be your clue right there who the robe is intended for.. (as if it wasn't already clear)
A Necro using this robe would be in theory OOM; using a Lich spell on their life to regenerate that mana. The throwing mod is a joke built upon the whole 'casters meleeing is funny' idea.
A Necro with some crazy DoT on a high level MOB probably doesn't want to walk right up and start swinging at it.. so .. you throw daggers and **** to pass the time ;)

52 yellow an half from 53 necro on Lanys T'Val. I'm not sure what you did as a 1 thru 35, but I used every weapon available to me, 1hb, 2hb, throwing, pierce, h2h, and (omg) throwing. Granted, I only have about 25 points in h2h, thats my lowest combat skill by the way, but if ya use something, you will improve. For that reason my 41 monk has nearly 150 skill points in the guild trainer, all of his carrer he has put a single point into a skill and then trained it up to max for level. As of 41 I am lacking by about 10 points in Eagle Strike, 20 points in Dragon Punch, and 40 points in Flying Kick. every other combat skill, (except throwing) is either maxed, or 5 points from being maxed (just dinged 41 about 2 hours ago). I honestly cany understand why any lowbie caster wouldnt want to mellee, its extremley mana effecient, in a group when oom you can do a respectable percentage of damage. In the mid game (20 thru 45) casters wont be melleeing that much, but some may do so to train skills, I wish I had kept all skills trained up to max when I was leveling. But /shrug make mistakes, learn, make a new character, make new mistakes.

Necro Robe

I see this robe as great for my necro. He has a low str and this will help im greatly. My chanter however needs charisma and has an adequet strength as it it is. If anything this robe would be for a necro more then an enchanter.
RE: Necro Robe
# Jan 17 2002 at 4:41 PM Rating: Default
As an enchanter, I know the regen on this robe would be very handy to enchanters in general -- especially to a chanter who works with a Shadow Knight with regularity. Not long ago my Chanter and an SK hunted together, out in the middle of nowhere. The idea came up, after sufficient downtime to drive both parties nuts, to /duel each other so that the SK could lifetap from my chanter to heal himself more quickly and thus we'd return to hunting.

Was a great idea, my only problem was being leery of something going terribly, horribly wrong and me being lower on life than I should have been, and then dying. Well, lo and behold, I remembered Troll Illusion. As time went on, I was happily allowing lifetaps down to half life, and he was almost always full health by the time he'd finished sucking away at my health. The whole thing worked wonderfully, and I think we were both rather pleased.

I guess my main point here is that Chanters would have as much use from the regen aspect of this robe as Necros, when hunting with any class that can make someone else's HP their own. My chanter could always use more strength as my charisma is already pretty much taken care of. The resists and hp are, of course, handy as well.

Apparently, though, for general and most common use, Necros would most benefit from this robe. (dagnabit). Monks by far would not (7.5 weight? jimmeny cricket, the thing would suffocate those delicate flowers! hehe).
RE: Necro Robe
# Jan 17 2002 at 4:35 AM Rating: Good
This is surely best suited for a necro from the given classes ... monks should use a fungi tunic for better regen effect and the stats arent that great for other classes to use. The only thing that sets this robe apart is the regen effect which would be most useful to necros while liching themselves.
Question?
# Jan 16 2002 at 8:27 PM Rating: Decent
I am a bit new at the higher end stuff but How much regen is this per tic? I mean there are different levels of regen aren't there?
I....will...not...make....a...best..class....post....
# Jan 16 2002 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
This would probably Be of the Most Use to monks necros and 56+ mages (trying very hard not to make a 'best class' post =] )
Mana Robe... I would rather sit on my *** and med than click click click my entire downtime. Med is like 14 per tick for a lvl 52 so not much better off using mana robe.

RE: Wow
# Jan 17 2002 at 4:39 AM Rating: Decent
Nah ... the time it takes to regen 1000 hps (which you could burn with the mana robe) is far too long to make this effective (for soloing ... else you have a healer anyway). A necro doesnt really need a mana robe for he has a constant effect spell. This robe however is a decent step to countering the loss of life from liching ...

For a normal monk? yeah. For a monk that has a guild capable of doing this and is most likely lvl 60 so he can carry 20+ lbs without any negative effects? no not at all. A monk equipped high end has lots of the 0.2 0.4 0.0 weight things, so this is sweet.

Only way I could see this possibly going to a monk is if there were no necros or other casters around to loot it. This bad boy makes for free necro crack. Monks have a few choices on regen items. necros don't. Sides which, if they are lvl 60 with a whole bunch of low weight items, they outta have better buy now.

Think of the people yer hunting with. It'd be a damn crime for this to go to anyone BUT a necro. Hell, I'm a mage and I can tell ya that.
