I was beginning to think it no longer dropped....3 days and about 20 kills later...I got it. I only kept after it cuz I'm stubborn lol. It does look kinda kewl though and it's not something every Druid carries around.
Nulludar Divinus Druid of the 45th Season Luclin Server
This item is cool for druids wanting a unigue item, it looks like a sword, not your typical druid gear. The stats are not that great, but it does have some mana and wisdom.
I guess my druid wife and I got lucky. We were on our way to Tenebrous Mountains when we got aggrod in HSM. We didnt really want to waste the time to kill it, but it was named so we engaged. My wife (druid) basicaly casted a snare on him, ran him around, and I ran behind backstabbing (I'm a rogue). He went down not to terribly slow and we didnt really take much damage. He dropped this weapon, which she now equips mainly because it looks cool (Vain huh?).
Shaman can use a limited number of 1hs items as stated, much like some 2hs scythes are usable by necro, and the worker's sledgehammer (2hb) can be used by bards. However, it is uncommon to see this as none of these classes can ever get any skill to use these items, so they will always be bad at melee with them.
A little known fact about shaman is they are able to use certain types of 1hs. a regular axe is fine, but a battle axe is not. very restrictive, but there are some 1hs weapons that can be used.
I've killed this idiot 4 times so far, and i have a terrible time gettin him to spawn. So far it's been the same thing every time; the mask, and nothing but the mask =P whats up with that, has it been nerfed?
I would also like to know if this sword has been removed. I'd rather have the sword than the mask, since I have no use for the mask, besides selling it. I have killed Gorehorn 5 times. 4 times mask, 1 times horn, 0 times wingblade. So far I've given the mask to friends and guildies, perhaps I should start selling the crap :)
Seams to me that the lvl needed to obtain this item, and the ratio it has and the fact that it's no drop, that this weapon is pretty worthless to those who can get it. As such could it be a quest item?
Bros, let me tell you, Gore is really annoying, Although, his mask is very nice. I currently have one, so does a monk guildie I know, and a ranger guildie. He seems to have dropped the mask all 3 times that we have killed him, and for anyone who cares, im 46 and I soloed him with no problem, he conned green but verant likes to make huge undercons, took just a tad bit of beating to take him down, I'd compare him to a gorging brute. He hit me for upper 50s only twice and the rest were 16s, 13s, and I waxed his little horny ***** He drops the mask common I guess. I dont see why people would want this weapon he drops, my cleric has a springwood club, which has better wisdom anyway... He is still a major undercon tho, his Hps are emense, and I guess if youre lower level, he can wax you hard, be careful ;p
Hey i was thinking of getting a couple of buddies to gether to get this weapon for my druid. He currantly has a Velium Etched Stone Mace, which was given to me by a VERY nice guy....but any way...I dont care about the dam/delay ratio because i dont tank. So would this item be worth the trouble for my buds and I to get?
Can't tell you which is better. MoB that drops this is Gorehorn - it is not level 30. Seems to vary between 33 and 38. About 2500 hp and magic resistant. Hits in the mid 60's up to 80 depending on level. Seems ilke an Ulthork Warrior with 1000 more hitpoints, or maybe a weak Hill Giant. Also drops the Horned Beetle mask ( nice face piece ) and the Gore Horn, a piercer. Pretty tuff ****. Reports are that you can't root him, but that's just heresay.
not if you can't duel wield ;) even if a weapon can go in secondary slot, that only applies to people who can put weapons there (those with duel wield) if you dont care about the ratio, just the stats, im assuming your a druid or shaman so your **** outta luck.
...that this drops from a named rhinobeetle. His name is Gorehorn...I happened to be passing through Hollowshade one day when I saw a druid kiting him. The druid was a little hurt and he had gotten some low lvl adds, so I healed him and took care of the adds. The druid told me he was lvl 40 and that Gorehorn conned blue to him. At lvl 51 Gorehorn was green...I attempted to help the druid by rooting him, and the first root stuck for like 3 seconds. After that, he resisted pretty much every root attempt...I tried to nuke him a couple of times, and had a large portion of my nukes resisted. (Was hitting for like 90ish of 516) As you can see he is very Magic resistant. If you intend to fight him I'd suggest bringing along a melee. He dropped this wing for the druid, (after a ranger showed up and finished him off for us) but I believe he also drops a nice mask of some sort as well...
Esrevatem Dlareme Mithril Warhammers 51st Cleric of Drinal
It does drop off of Gorehorn, I submiited the pic above, the icon looks like a feather. I have one and the second one that dropped I gave a tell to the only one in the zone who could use it, a level 12 shaman, to come loot it. She was quite happy. I've killed the bug several times, got the mask 5 times, the Gore Covered Horn twice, and this twice. In addition, there was 1 drop of a pristine rhinobeetle carapace (don't know what it's for yet). The mob is very resistant to snares and roots (they will stick though), but I have it only resist my drifting death once. I recommend before going after this mob, cast Chloro and spikes, the cast Drifting Death, run a bit, melee until you go down 2 bubs of health, run, redot, gain back 1 bub of health, redot, and melee until dead (not you). You can use Ro's Fiery subdering to strip this mob.
I recently killed gorehorn and got a decent mask--was like ac6 4sta 3str, maybe some other stuff--was droppable---was told this was his common drop. So the scimitar if it drops off gore must be his rare if my info is correct. Gore was annoying at 51 to kill--impossible to root--just snare and dot a few times, then run in circles with him--just click dot adds--that'll kill like ninety percent of the stuff in this zone.
Just because a class/race can equip the item, if that class has no skill in that weap, it will never get one, so they will swing like a lvl 1 person without training when using that type of weapon
How about puttin in about 20 skill points and work on it when the target is running. If snared it works much better. You can start at 0 but those are the longest
They can not train in the skill, but you can equip it, and you still have your offensive skill to help you hit. But you will never get any better at 1hs
