Shadows of Luclin
This is more than a shield,, it is a focus. It gives you something to shoot for besides constantly checking the EXP bar. These Newbee quests, if you do them, give you something to hunt for exp instead of the unfocused mass killing of everything that cons low enuff. Even if your a twink you should still do them. When the next step of the quest is too high a level, by all means let the mass killing of blues begin.

Equipment is pretty easy to come by nowadays - being a newbie just isn't the same as it used to be =) This shield frankly sucks - a newbie would be better off saving a few pp and buying a Targ shield.
level 14 druid with 165 wis. I'm sorry compadre, but i regret to say that you're twinked. not everyone gets twinked, and for a newbie(untwinked) this is a fairly decent item.
just like the Ghulam Gloves, if you're twinked they are absolutely poor. if you're untwinked, they're some of the best things to happen to you, bar none.
Besides, this shield is a stepping stone to better gear.

just like the Ghulam Gloves, if you're twinked they are absolutely poor. if you're untwinked, they're some of the best things to happen to you, bar none.
Besides, this shield is a stepping stone to better gear.

this buckler is an intermediate quest item. it gets better as the quest progresses. Still not good, since you can pick up a chitin shell shield for 10pp and it is 15ac 10 sv poison. However, the quest sounds fun, and its much better starting equipment that you'd get on antonica.
It's important to note that the newbie areas for the Vah Shir are VERY cash-poor.

It seems to me, that if your a Cat, and you stay at home, when you DO leave, and if you DO do the quests, your gonna leave with some pretty decent stuff, not saying this is good, but just saying, they can get off pretty good, especially if your not a twink, this is a nice start. heck, i remembered what i had at that level, took me till 5 just to get full cloth, and heck, i was exstatic :)
