This dropped off of a Bloodtribe Sneakster tonight.

A guildie got this for me two days ago, and it is primary/range. So, the one that dropped two days ago was not nerfed. Happy hunting.

I just got one off the Prophet after I could log on after the patch. it's listed as range and secondary.
As of 8/5/02 these spears can still be placed in the Range Slot , Since the next patch with the new interface is today who knows if it may infact be nerfed by tommorrow , I for one hope not My shaman loves this spear :)
If you got a spear before the nerf I believe they are still range equippable. I got mine a while ago and it still has the range tag.
My shaman (level 16 Vah`Shir) has no need for this though, shes using a Slime Coated Harpoon in primary and Howling Harpoon in range. I got this with my monk at around level 51 or so when soloing a sambata cave in Scarlet Desert and I kept it figuring I could sell it for around 1k. Havent really been selling anything recently so its still in my bank.

No longer range equippable as of 4/24/02 patch, it's value just dropped immensely.
maybe someone will sell an un-nerfed for the average going price. happens a lot, stuff like that. keep your eyes open.

This dropped off of a Bloodtribe Wiseman a couple nights back. My take on the items tables in this zone is that any specific named has a chance of dropping any of several items. For instance, in a prior spawn of the Wiseman (he popped 3 times for us), we got a Wiseman's Mantle and a Dirk of the Sneakster. The one Sneakster pop we had dropped a Wiseman's Mantle. I would bet that the rare drop for each is related to whatever corresponding item they have, wiht the common being chosen from a greater list of items dropped by that "class" of mob. We have not, to date, recieved any SR drops from Bloodtribes, or vice-versa. This could however be chance, only been there a few days.
In any event, this does still go in Range slot, our shammy was a happy cookie when she got it.

I found one of these on a vendor in Twlight and picked it up for 240 plat. A deal by any means. So now I have this in my range and a slimmy as my primary. With my ToV in secondary gives me +20 Wis and +20 Mana.

Better then my Ebon war spear at any rate. Who could turn down a little more wis with a nice little spatter of resists and even a tad bit of mana? Anyone know the rough level of the mob and roughly how hard he would be for a 44 shaman to take down? Because the list of all the mobs that have my upgrades is getting bigger and I want the easier stuff first ;)

Where was this back when I was using Slimy Poon in my ranged slot LOL. I have to say, I'm very impressed with all of the new mid low-mid level items I've seen thus far. And there's even a good mix of higher level items as well. OMG, I almost said WTG Verant :P
I'm not sure I get why this is so much better than the slimy coated harpoon. It has a couple of small saves, true. But the SCH still has better stats for attacking (10 25) when you are practicing your piercing skill. Can anyone explain?

The explaination is simple, this spear is not for attacking at all, its for sitting in your ranged slot and looking pretty. Oh, and giving those lovely stats.

Right next to the weight of the item (in the picture) it says range:35. Just because it does not say primary, range does not mean it isn't. Many of the items from Stonebrunt and The Warrens are the same way. It would be a shame to throw it though......
I guess that would mean it's time to remove the range attack key from the menu.

pretty sure he means that it doesnt say slot: PRIMARY RANGE... if an item has a listed range on it it wll always be able to fit in your range assuming you are of the appropriate class, even if it isnt listed as a slot.
this would make a nice Range Slot providing you don't throw on a regular basis. ;) I want one for my shammy. :D
