Ruins of Kunark
As a Greenmist hold on my Ikky SK, I was disappointed that after all this time there is no updated quests to continue with this weapon. I really do like it and looks like it will collect dust in my bank as I will never destroy it. I do hope someone at EQ is reading this and if sooo please for all of us that put in the hours and hard work, make an updated quest to update the weapon, Heck even make it an Epic 3.0 or something.

Due to a very very long break from EQ... 3 years after I turned in my first Bone chip to trooper Mozo...And working on this since nov 2005, With a lot of luck and assistance... I finally possess this.
Even today... I could not be happier to have this... Even W/ having Blade of Disruption.
This weapon is still Extremely viable for day to day use at lvl 58. The bandolier makes it work carrying just to get the L/ToT proc to go off, then switch back and forth.
I am A DE... and to those Iksar who say it isnt fair this is equipable by forigeners... I say.. I did more work for this than what I sould have... I in essence soloed every NPC kill for it. Even from a roleplaying sense... I had to make the Iksar love me like they would love their own.
Its worth all the work, effort, time, frustration, and intolerance.
As a SK.. I think every SK needs to do this line of quests... Just to learn more about being a SK, as well as learnining about the Iksar.

this weapon is still great imo.. even though SoE has gone to far with this game gear wise, think about what was insane back in the day ( kunark ect. ) and how soloable it is now people never thought that it would go this far.. well if it keep going like this, 1 day zones that we think are insane might be soloable one day to.. i doubt it but it might be possible L0L Sol Ro 4 life

Is the Greenmist an Epic for Iksar Sk's? Cuz of the KoS faction hit Iksars get i was told the Greenmist was created to be an Iksar SK Epic for them. I am thinking of getting OoW, but if Greenmist is not Epic, then i won't. I am a casual player and do not have the time to spend 3 months Faction farming THEN Start on Sk epic. ***** that.

As has been stated before, Epic quests will be used to shorten the length of the new epics in OoW, but you can still get the new epics without doing the first.
Epic weapons are kunark era weapons, and DO have something to do with OoW, but the greenmist is not concidered an epic weapon as far as OoW is concerned :(

Now that librarian Zimor is up in the tower it makes doing turn ins very difficult because he is on Brood of Kotiz faction. I have searched the site and can find no simple quest or easier way to raise brood of kotiz faction without camping the marauder cave in FOB.
Brood of Kotiz is improved by killing outcast Iksars such as those found in LOIO, Warsliks Woods and such. There are a number of camps of these in Warsliks woods including a cave structure with almost 2 dozen of them.
To get from KOS to dubious kill like 600 of these outcast iksars.

Nice, i did not know about the camp is Warsliks. I used to kill them in TrakTeeth cave until they were slaughtered by the still gloating black ravagers

I worked on Greenmist for a very long time. There were some very long camps to get pieces, and when I hit 55 I decided I wanted to do nothing else than finish my Greenmist quest. Was it worth it? To ME I say a resounding YES!

Will I rule now that I have Greenmist, no! Is it still worth using into 60's, yes until I get a better 1hs. Will I ever leave Greenmist in the bank? NEVER, I will always have a slot for it in my inventory. Pride and honor, that is the true reward for Greenmist.

I agree matey - I, as an Ikky Monk, prided myself on completing the shackle quests and getting My Whistling fists... then doing it again to get the last shackle as it was uber for me at the time. I've just started an Erudite SK... am seriously contemplating the faction work so I can do this quest!

ok just for clarification on looking at the effect of this weapon... it is a DOT Lifetap... right? if so that makes this completely necessary for any sk puller. Any lifetap that is disease based during fight that can give you 240 hps for 1 proc plus 20 str and 4 ac is godly uber in my book granted there are some Better DPS 1HSlash weapons, but this is still better than a Noctivigant Blade.

i'd say if you're an sk, and ever planning on going to Vex Thal, this is an awesome bane weapon to have. seeing as you'll spend a huge portion of time in ssra farming key parts (/cry) and will be fighting mainly shissar's in and out, the weapon would rival most uber 2hs's in dps. just a thought =]

cha this thing owns in more then one way - i mean besides the fact that when kunark first came out is was known as best sk wep in game... considering it was still old world thats highly belivable... BUT even now it pwns... 18/22 is nice ratio i mean face it - u dont have to be 65 to do this get some freinds to helpyou do it and u cant get any UBER sk weps till way higher lvl - the 25MR is definatly a plus. 10 int is always good AND it even has 5 dex for its proc ! - for some reason i feel like makeing a sk now ... is this thing soloable or would i need help?

Greenmist wasn't the best weapon around when Kunark came out. The Cabalis quests weren't finished until... mid / early luclin? Its been awhile.
Other then that, yes this is a nice weapon. Maybe more of a status symbol then anything though :)

Far be it the day I would ever agree to something Lari says *huggles* but I must agree. Although Shissar bane weapons are also nice, the overall dmg of this one, including the proc makes it much more desireable to use against the emp than the other banes.

The mighty greenmist has a simple yet stylish katana look that just rocks on the scaley sk's. Oh, and i suppose it looks alright on all the other inferior sk races too, but that's another discussion, hehe. =P

Not often at all, at least on Norrath... Only one mob I've fought in the older zones to resist it was the Overking Bathezid, and it proc'd twice in a row and got him the second time, so I think he just got lucky.
As for Luclin, I don't know, I hardly go there, but will update when I drive the sword into the hearts of the Shissar.
PoP is another story. Been in PoI for awhile, and I can get maybe 1 out of every 10-15 procs to stick. Those obsolete models don't often resist my other spells, or the spells of my group, but they and Greenmist do not mesh at all.
Still an awesome weapon, and I consider it the pinnacle of SK 1HS weapons.

So since I don't wanna look through all these posts, please, does this weapon do dmg to the Emp Ssra like romours have stated?
From what i understand about emperour s, this weapon woudl only be 6dmg 22delay vsts him and get full potential on others

Yes, this adds 6 damage vs shissar (including Emp Ssra), making it in effect a 24/22 sword vs all shissar.

Ive been to Ssra with this and with the bane damage I had hits that were of 100 damage. I think i was doing the best melee damage even if i wasnt hitting as much.

Well after a very long time I finally got this weapon. I must say its better than I thought it would be. Every SK should strive to get this weapon its very much worth the time you put into it.

Awesome blade.. my 59 sk still uses this on Tallon Zek very useful vs casters with is speed and a shield its deadly. Augment this further with anything to make its use last even longer.
Ok. one question. how do ya get the iksar newb wep when ur a DE sk and how do u raise cabilis faction??

There is a quest to turn in weapons that drop in Veksar for experience and positive Cabilis faction with no negative faction hits. The NPC is located on the shore of the lake in LOIO and was indiff to me, a high elf mage. To do the turn in you need to give him 4 of the same weapon, which can be any of the generic weapons that drop off the mobs in Veksar.

You recieve the iksar newb weapon when you hail the squire in the left tower (facing toward SK guild) and say that you lost your weapon, he will send you to the toilmaster and he should give you a weapon that you must proc 50 (?) times and return to him is how i believe that you get it, didnt have to worry much as an iksar sk 8)

Personally I think Greenmist needs to be upgraded. Why is it there are weapons out there that do more bane damage? TO me there should be no question what weapon an SK would want. I think the bane damage should be increased to 25...above the Corrupted Shissar Claymore...also add a particle effect. Last but not least the Greenmist proc should be unresistable to the Shissar.

It's simple, really. They could easily upgrade weapons from older expansions and the like.. but why? By adding a new expansion with better gear, you get hundreds of thousands of players who will pay for it to go after the better gear.

Being able to the hit emporer is a good thing. Just some good for thought.
And interesting idea, I guess, but still way too limited a use for such a nice weapon. Bane damage spells aren't unheard of (Giantbane and Dragonbane for wizards,) though I'm unsure how easy it is to add a new racial bane into the spell database.
And honestly, anything from the Kunark era has been so antiquated by new content it's sad. Some of the best quests out there are utterly ruined. Look at epics, look at the Greenmist, look at the monk's Whistling Fists. WF used to be one of the best monk weapons in the game, and now you can buy a better weapon for 4k in the bazaar.
So yes, a lot of old content needs to be continued. Epics need to have a version 2.0 like the rumour that circulated pre-PoP, and quests like this need continuations of some kind.

This Quest is very hard and painstaking...
First there is the Faction Work to do with Cabilis if you're not already an Iksar.
As a Dark Elf, I did 350+ Explorer Knives to get Warmly with the Legion, Crusdader's, and Mystics... It also got me to Dubious with Residents and did nothing for the Necro's... I am still KOS to the Necro's...
There is a Necro in the KS Guild associated with the Greenist Quest, who has a large aggro range if your in the Guild Hall.
I got around him with a couple vials of Essence of Iksar, and he was my newest best friend when I did my Greenmist turn-ins with him.
Before doing the Greenmist Quest itself however...
You have to go through 7 newbie sub-quests; each resulting in an upgraded newbie weapon, each sub-quest getting more difficult... The first couple involve collecting things from places like Kurn's Tower and Swamp of No Hope... However the drops are rare.
The last of the 7 sub-quests needing items from CoM and Droga; with the CoM drops being random.. I camped mine for 12 hours...
The Greenish Metal Shard is a very rare drop in the Royals area of Chardok... it is easier to just buy one in the Bazaar if they are available.
The Mirror of Self Loathing... since the Charasis revamp, is more difficult to get but most people Multi that anyway... I got lucky, someone on my server whose Guild farms Charasis on a regular basis had about 3 or 4 Mirror's on various alts and offered to Multi one with me for free.
And the most difficult part of the Quest of all... at least for you, is that you're a Dwarf Warrior asking about an SK Only weapon...
There is a LOT of useful and helpful information on the SK Board at: www.shadowknight.org... there is an entire Forum dedicated to the Greenmist with all sorts of tips on how others did their Quest.
Most of it an be easily solo'd by a 55+ SK however... A few parts need a decent group, and a Tracker would help with a couple of the first 7 Sub-Quests...

I know this has a great ratio, as well as proc, but hey, so does the SK epic. Personally, id take the epic over this ANYDAY, my brother has the Innoruuks curse on his SK, and damn is it nice, 40/45 Very nice stats/sv's, and the proc is basically a 50hp per tic life leech for like 20seconds. While he toggles his Primal 2hs and his epic,his stats are completely maxed and he hits excellent hits with avatar on, and as often as it procs, he never has down time for healing when hes Fear kiting, Helps having a manastone too, basically endless mana and endless HP while fear kiting =) Not to mention being able to bash with the epic is an awsome bonus. Not sure how much the atk upgrades, but 20str on the epic really helps the dps =)

Didn't notice the Shissar bane? Or perhaps the fact that it's a one hander with very nice stats, a beautiful proc, and a powerful ratio? This weapon is plain awesome when put fighting in Ssraeshza & since Innoruuk's Curse is ...subpar compared to most PoP no-drop 2hs, while this tends to hold up compared to many of the no-drop SK 1hs from the high end, it makes getting Greenmist a higher priority for most SKs, since many SKs have abandoned their IC epics for PoP raids. Albeit, this isn't THE best weapon for an SK, but it's definitely worth the trouble.
I cant Deny that this is indeed a fine weapon As well as VERY nice for its time. But shissar are just one race. Anywhere else Innoruuk's curse beats this hands down.
Higher end guilds will spend some time doing Ssra and such quite a bit. But once Emperor is down and everyone has keys, most of there time will be spent in VT and further on.

The aggro effect of a 22 delay weapon with a disease based AC/STR/Life-TAP proc, especially if hasted is amazing on this weapon.
Also, if you're in a guild that's farming Ssra, that you're in line for a few 2HS's that drop there that are better than IC?

Let's not forget the prestige of actually owning the weapon. In my opinion this weapon is more useful than the real SK epic and holds the same amount of prestige. The fact that it is 1hs, has a nice proc, and can be used versus the Emperor are all very good. The few SKs that I know have theirs say they used it as their 1hs weapon up until tier 3 planes which is VERY impressive for a Kunark era weapon.

you seem to be forgetting that Greenmist is 1HS...
to me it's like comparing apples and oranges. IC sucks... a lot... compared to most PoP 2handers, and greenmist is at least comparable to most PoP 1handers (as it is said 2 posts above) so I'm not sure how you are arguing the value of the weapon... I don't have a greenmist but I would use it over my 2hander if I invested in a decent shield, but I would never use epic over anything better than a war marshall's bladed staff.

I think personally the easiest way to get your faction up for greenmist is to get a nuker (i've been using an epic druid on 2box with my sk) and go to field of bone and kite the entire zone, then just have them beat on me (theyre all extremely low to and do little damage at all to a 54 sk) and then nuke them, due the bone chips turn in and viola good faction! and as far as i'm concerned the SK epic is garbage, to hard to get, to long to get, and not worht it
