This will likely be my next bow as soon as I skill up enough to make one. I had to give up trying to make a Trueshot and broke down and bought one in bazaar because it was taking too long to make it myself. Why is trivial on Trueshot so high when better bows like this one can be made with lower fletching skill?
And just to throw my 2cp in on the price debate, I am told that when you sell tradeskill items, you should charge AT LEAST double what you have invested in the item so that over time your failed attempts will be covered as well.
That's why tradeskillers are being killed by bazaar and its abundance of lower priced looted items that make all but the best tradeskilled items practically unsellable at a price that is fair to the makers of the items.

I was so happy that my first attempt to make this nice compound bow succeeded. Since I am a happy owner of a recurve velium bow, I am not going to use it for myself but I can very well use the money I make selling it to improve my fletching skill some more. At this point I am stuck at 202, still figuring out what is the best (and cheapest) way to get it further up. Cultural fletching appeals to me, but I hesitate to level up brewing and smithing. At the other hand, I can't seem to find items I need for that; they're not just simply for sale ....
what i planned on doing is making the Shadow Tipped Acrylia Arrow they trival at 268 or something and if you know a good smith their easy and cheap to make =)
With a skill of 180 I made one with 2 tries. I think I got pretty lucky. I also have the Trueshot bow. Having used both I prefer the SDCB for both the range and the speed increase. Match this with affordable 4 damage 150 yard arrows and you have a bow that can reach out and touch someone. No its not a double recurve velium bow or above. But the point is that anyone with a few plat can have one of these. Not everyone ls going to get lucky enough to see let alone touch a Velium bow.
I made 5 of these with my paly when my fletching was at level 200, and i never failed. When i make them, i first get all my stats (STR, STA, AGI, DEX, INT, WIS) above 100. I don't know which stats are important, but with all of them over 100 (each around 110) i had more successes while training my skill.
Yo, this is Jerky of the Erollisi Marr Server. I was a Master Fletcher with skill 158 at level 3 and sell all kinds of bows...i will soon be able to make these bows so give me a tell and i will give ya the hook up.
? this bow a normal one? hey guys i suggest you refresh this page with the "ratio" order.
arrow dammage are added to the bow natural one. if we use 8 damage arrow, lets see how good are each bow.. *calculating the ratio of each bow with +8 damage*
okay guys, in the kind of bow that dont require a full uber guild on a level 70+ mobs, this bow is SECOND OVER EVERY SINGLE OTHER BOW BOTH IN TERM OF RATIO AND RANGE! on other word, unless you are ultra lucky and get a primal veliu,m bow, u canot find better. the only thing that could beat it is the sarnak war bow. but thats it. period. and its nor only for ranger but fpor everything. come on with arrow, this bow have more damage then a wurmslayer for the same delay. 400pp is really an insult.
I am one of the few active fletchers selling bows on a regular basis on Cazic Thule. Failure rate on this bow is approximately 40% at 200 skill. Cost is over 325PP per attempt. Average selling price for me is 750 - 1K. This is minimal profit given the high failure rate.
Just to give you a "Professional Fletcher's" take on it.
You should not overlook range when evaluating bows. The range of the Darkwood Compound is 33% greater than the arnge of the Trueshot. This combined with the shorter dely gives you a much better bow for multiple shots and bow kiting. At 203 fletching I still fail quite often. One strategy I have used to save cash, is to wait for a failure on a trueshot attempt, then my chances of succeding on the SDWC are better.
Fair price is AT LEAST DOUBLE if not TRIPLE the cost of materials given the high failure rate and the fact that they don't become trivial until reaching a skill level of 230 according to Aoenla's Fletching Guide. Anyone who puts the time and effort not to mention the pp into any trade to reach that level of skill should not be shy about pricing thier wares accordingly. Personally, I think 400pp is insulting. This is arguably the best bow in the game other than Raincaller and Earthcaller which are Ranger only quest rewards.
I just made my first Trueshot last night after 20+ failures and a skill lvl of 137.
Stant 20th season Ranger of Tunare Master Fletcher Nameless
Fair price is around 400pp I heard, which means just a bit more than what the items cost you to make. Trueshot bow sells for less because it is usable just by rangers.
a fair price is not just counting up the costs you had buying the supplies and add a little to it. That would be the case if making bows like these was easy. Never forget the effort it takes (and additional costs) to level up to being able to make them; that should be paid. Futhermore the stats are important. A variaty of reasons make this bow at least double the price you suggested.
