HE walked over to me and i took a peek at his stuff. HOLY @$%# he had two of these things and a crap load of other stuff. Kinda ironic he uses his main once every few weeks at best. Still wish i could solo the plains.
Whooot Finaly a sane person out there! Bout time people Said wow thats nice. Hope I can get in a group and loot that when I am highenough lvl. I admit I twink my guild. But doesnt mean that I put down items just because they arnt as good as people think they should be. Bravo again Darkmask. If you were twinked just be happy and play. Dont go taking pot shots at items and players just cause you have better gear. Oh ya By the way. Its just a game 8) So remember to play cause it is fun not to get the best gear or be the most UBER. Thank you Taeken
Heck, I grew up in Faerun, the main world for D&D, back before games like EQ even existed. Someone in chain +1, with either a shield +1 or a short sword +1 was stunning. I remember playing Chainmaille, though most people won't. By level 7, you were fighting dragons, and after that, you just retired the character.
EQ had a lot of potential in my eyes when I first started playing about a year ago. And I remember making people just loose it when I would refuse to be twinked. Always gave the same response. It's not my stuff, so why should I have it? I haven't earned it at all.
I don't know the days that you are talking about, darkmask, but I do understand the frustration you feel anymore. Would be the same for me if I was in a D&D game, and level 1 characters were running around in elvin chain, and dual wielding +4 long sword defenders. Would just simply disgust me.
"Pain is the only absolute in life. All else is a blessing from the Gods above.
as the title says darkmask is the bomb. man im twinked and i hate it sometimes i wish....naaaaa. still i hate people who r lvl 1 and have Shining crystal effretti cobalt chtin and laugh at me (35 troll SK) cuz i have iksar regen and some BE.
The way I see it, items like this are for players just like the guy from the previous post. Players that have been through it all and are WAY above most other ppl. From what I've read on these boards about the effort involved fighting the likes of the ToV dragons (Vulak in particular), its fair enough that the top level players are rewarded accordingly.
On a slightly different note, I really hope the everquest described by Darkmask is brought back to some extent by Luclin. Just have to have faith in verant I guess =\
To the morons who says "Where is the stuff for us?" you really are a spoiled player. Some of us played those levels from 1 to 50 without the great gear that is available so easily to you now. Some of us wore raw silk for 40 levels because that was the best there could be had, and someone with gatorscale sleeves was just beyond cool.
Players now are so spoiled, you waddle under the crafted armor which was so rare at one time you had people stopping to take screenshots of you in it, or watching a caster run through the zone in an SMR would result in a train of people following the caster for just a glimpse. Your gear now, the stuff you throw away was the uber gear for us, the Yaks you dismiss was someone's dream, those flowing black robes was the end game for those early players and now your spoiled attitude is where is us?
Look at the bracer, its 25str, and 40hp and 30ac, my god man, thats more then the treeweave, which was so coveted, it blows a hero bracer out of the water, but its a reward to those who worked their butts off to get to the end game, to slay the final dragons, the drop the bosses, not for some level 30 geek who thinks he should have a dragon level bracer too. Try working for it, try leveling, god knows you have it easy enough now.
So stop posting messages to items you understand so little about and stop asking where is mine? Its there, and quite alot of good stuff for your level, its just that you are so spoiled you dont realize it. There was a time in this game where you saw someone with an item, you said rock on, thats awesome, guess I should level so I can get something like that, now you have children when seeing something dive to the floor in an tantrum. Your generation of spoiled players is ruining it for those who worked so hard to make it so easy for you.
Keep whining how its not fair, you are right, its tipped in your favor considerably, I will give you some banded armor, a langseax of the wolves and tell you to level to 50, we did it, its all we had back in the day.

Had a lvl 9 human pally and was sitting in EC tunnel admiring other peoples items and this guy walked up to me and hands me a FS axe and a bag. I thanked him atleast 4 times, equiped my new axe and ran around killing pumas and rattlesnakes. About a week later I found out how to open bags and saw it was full of banded armor. I was the happiest paladin in FP.
a perspective from someone who started playing after kunark came out...
i see your basic premise, being that anyone below 55 should not whine about not having or being able to get one of these i think you are a bit misguided.
mobs in the "new" worlds are much tougher than in the old world. for instance my necro can walk into guk and take about any camp in it. if i tried going in a similair leveled kunark dungeon i'd end up all over the walls.
velious ups the difficult considerably in typical mobs.
i have yet to travel to luclin and do much hunting there (have the game installed but runs to slowly in the new zones to play).
but to get on to my point. the new worlds were designed to increase in toughness based on the knowledge that people with quest armor and such would be fighting them.
for example when they made ulthorks hit for 100+ they realized that people with weapons far superior to ykeshas and crafted armor or better would be hunting them. they did not design them with the intention of people in rubicite and ykeshas weilding them.
so people are expected to be weilding the stuff you thought was uber before the new worlds. yeah its great i can reem the stuff in the old world, but anything half decent is going to drop in kunark or velious. i cant imagine surviving in karnors for example with just ykeshas and rubicite armor.

There is more stuff to do and more pretty things to look at. I admit its sad that there are level 60's who never got to play the old EQ world and wouldnt know what a LoW is, but big deal really, just play the game, its still just as fun to me at leaste, even if a YAK is no longer the best weapon around and Green Silken Drapes are practically destroyed now...
Very nice post - I still remember the excitement when I would discover a quest I had never read about, or discover some new piece of equipment. I remember when I first started playing, those nostalgic days as Nanadin, the high elven mage.
My stay in freeport was amazing, and was heightened by the appearence of the almighty Lord Shin Ree. I remember those bygone days whenever I hear a certain track of music, and I remeber his pride when he returned home with a new robe in hand. The days when I would hold an intelligent conversation with member of the realm of heroes.
Very Very Good post Darkmask. This post just brought back an idea that i had yesterday while watching a level 11 Necro and a level 55 Druid take the AC Camp for me for the Necro's JBoots. Normally i would have been fine with it, but i was saddened and mad when i saw that the Necro was in the same guild as the Druid, and had a Froggie Bonecasters Robe on him. I slapped my head in disgust with myself not noticing a twink from the start. Anyways, the moral of this tale is that I think that those days when Norrath only had 3 continents and nobody had killed Naggy yet. I was thinking that maybe those good times should be brought back to everyone that was there or wanted to experience complete newbieism to EQ. I hearby pronounce that i think that Verant should Introduce two absolutely new servers that only have Old World EQ installed on them.
OK, by now you are prolly thinking that i am crazy. Well, if VI could do it, i think it would bring a lot of people back to the game. Especially if they moved a lot of the drops around from different zones, and maybe new spawns, and new quests. I think that this draw could bring back many Veteran EQ players who have quit for other games or for lack of any reason to play anymore. Well, i would like to hear all of your thoughts on this even if they are flames or stupid remarks.

Thunder is impressive, but lightning gets the job done.
God bless you, brother. I remember my first character. As a level 14 paladin he had a mixture of banded and bronze (from trading stacks of food and water for bronze at the Ulrich McMannus camp - alot of 'high level' Necros used to camp him and it would destroy their faction in WK). Then a druid in full vermi gave me a 1h silvery war axe. People would inspect me constantly and ask me how I got all that cool stuff, but I kept my little bronze secret between myself and some close friends. Those days are gone. I guess Darwin was right. God, I thought I was diabolical genius for coming up with that little scheme.
Yeah i remember when someone running around in full bronze whit an exe axe in is hand was looked opon and drool came out of peeps mouth. The time when a langseaxs was something usefull. And then the time when someone in full quest armor was considered a god. These times are gone now an exe axe is a half decent weapon. Crafted is for those weird peeps that dont go camp ry'gorr fort for some Rygorr chainmail and bronze is a cheap replacement for that piece of fine steel that you could not afford. My friends someday this week i will do the langseax of the wolf quest..... for old times sake and i invite those of you who like me miss the good old days to do one of those old forgeten quest.
Well said. I remember doing mail quests for the plat to (eventually) buy a Combine Weapon and hunt wisps. I did that to great effect I might add.
Eh, times change and items appear for *Monks* that put most of a suit of Rubicite to shame. I am good with that, I too have changed. Still, a bracer like this is head and shoulders above the competition...
Ah yes, the days of yesteryear when dual wielding Mino axes made you godly and banded came out as high end stuff... Reminds me of a l-38 Ranger friend of mine who was in good stead in full banded and twin combine longswords.
God I remember my first character (a ranger) having a mino axe and another cheap weapon. I wanted a PGT so bad, but always got out blasted for it. I remember noticing the ghoul messenger on track one day in WK, so I shouted it to the zone so someone of high level could kill it and make use of it. I was taken totally by surprise when a very kindly druid ran up, grouped, wolf formed us both and burned the sucker to the ground so I could get my Short Sword of Morin. Boy was I a happy ranger at the time. I think he still has that sword over on Brell . . .
This would benifit a monk the most, its has amazing stats and is light, saying that , i still think you would need to be in a pretty friendly group for all the other classes that can use just to give it up to a monk cause it would benifit them most, anyone know what it looks like on ?

Either you have to be BELOW 35 or ABOVE 50 to get any of the new GOOD stuff. What happened to the rest of us, still trying to struggle through those levels inbetween? I have seen nothing new for us, therefore find the game becoming more boring. Looking forward to Dark Ages of Camelot coming out. MAYBE they will take into account ALL level players....
You realize this isn't "new" stuff. It's been there since Velious went live. The only reason you're seeing it all come out now is that it's just gotten to the point that Vulak'Aerr and friends are being basically farmed by the uber guilds. Think back to all the OTHER stuff that poured out for mid levels when Velious first came out, and there's your answer.
On a side note, DAoC is EQ without the challenge. Most of you who leave for it will be back for Luclin.

would have to say this would go to classes other then warriors ones that needed to max out str to 255 or to Warriors so they could drop str for Resist Awsome bracer anyways
