As I just combined my first Middlepart, i witnessed the tag "prestige" - As been silver, I got a bit frustrated, as I started this quest years ago, before this gold/silver/ftp thing. .... BUT .. as I checked the final result (see above), I DONT see any prestige tag at the final aug!!!

Is this info just out of date, or is there really a combine from various prestige items to a NON-prestige??

Could anyone who has this aug check the current status and post it here? Many thanks right now!

Uploaded image is pretty old, from 2008. So you may get bad news on the prestige front.

While doing the hand aug, one section is Deadbone Reef, I have completed all the task less the Rumors of a Flame. Where might I find this underwater flame, I have checked the underwater cave useing ivu and ivu works against the undead just not the sharks, but I still cannot locate the flame....

before zoning in, make sure you have /particle on
It is at the very bottom of the cave. Without particle on, it will be a rather non descript brown spot. But with particle on, you will see the fire.

I noticed this quest is labled as solo. My question is how hard would it be for a warrior to solo it? Different classes determine difficulty of what is solo v.s what is not.
Difficulty
# Jun 15 2007 at 10:15 PM Rating: Decent
It is labeled solo because the tasks are part of your solo tasks list - not the group quest list. even when DoN came out and introduced more than one solo quest at a time - it was not required that yo do them "solo" just they are tracked per character not per group.
New BiC?
# Mar 19 2007 at 9:57 AM Rating: Decent
As i stated... this supposed to be the new and improved BiC aug of TBS? No raids involved and can 1 grp to solo each part. Yay for 27 boring missions. Maybe instead of maxing Tradeskills on another char I will do this.
New BiC?
# May 22 2007 at 5:35 AM Rating: Decent
not really. best part about the BiC aug is that it went in any slot, including slot 4 for weapons. one of the few slot 4 hp/mana augs out there, and very beneficial for casters, ie putting bic in 2.5 along with a decent aug gives u a 700hp/mana 2.5

Entirely soloable by a 75 ranger, but I highly recommend bringing a partner for the backhand/ship drops and the other camps where a lot of the mobs are 75+.

A few additions to the walkthrough posted above:

The Red Aviak Feathers dropped off rooks, spellbinders, and kingsguards for me. I don't think they drop off roamers.

Only the mobs with 'drowned' in their name drop the booties in Deadbone Reef; these all spawn underwater, and sharks assist the undead.

The two named goblins in Suncrest are very rare spawns. I had 3 water and 2 fire named pop in 3 hours; either I got lucky or my spawning strategy worked. The water named spawned two times at the bridge entrance and once in a single-mob underwater hut, all three times in place of a PH that I'd killed. The fire named spawned from a shaman randomly killing fire goblins in the huts area, not the high-walled hall.

The Sailors Remains can also be looted off the undead in Maiden's Grave, they're not just ground spawns.

The loot mobs on Monkey Island are all light-blue, but they all cast a disease or poison DoT than can do 2k-3k damage or so in a few ticks, so get your disease and poison resists up.

Deliver the Goods cannot be soloed btw, all 3 mobs will stand almost directly on top of each other making it impossible to break unless you are a feign death class. If you try to break them and they reach the end of the beach where they run to after standing at Silverlip Slim for a few seconds they will despawn. The 3 mobs are linked to each other, i.e., if you try to kill one mob the other 2 will assist no matter how far away they are so I kited all 3 along the path to Toxx Forest keeping them rooted and using trueshot on the troll. I just had to watch that my ae hail of arrows spell didn't land on the roaming mercenary.

I tried doing this two different ways; one worked, one didn't. Both times I handed in the Package of Goods to Silverlip Slim, which spawned three a Blacksail Brigand, and as noted elsewhere, two human and one ogre models. But the first time I did this all three were DB to level 75, which is different than others have noted. The failed method was my ranger trick of snaring and zoning, but souped up for this situation. I rooted them all using my TBS level 73 root spell. I snared the two human a Blacksail Brigands using my 11 minute AA snare, then let the ogre model chase me to the Toxulia Forest zone line, where I snared him and then zoned to Toxulia Forest. I zoned back and sure enough he was all alone, or so it seemed. I started to bow kite/root rot him, and both of the human a Blacksail Brigands showed up after a bit. I saw one running up to me from way outside of normal mob aggro range. I gave up, zoned out and when I came back the ogre model had despawned and the human models hung around for a while. At this point I started over, and by then the human model a Blacksail Brigand despawned. This is what I did that worked. I AE rooted/snared them and was able to pick out the ogre model becuase this time he was the yellow con. I used TrueShot Disc, and offed him with the bow, hail of arrows and a few dots. The human models broke root early and after a while I had them all rooted separately and it was looking like I would need to zone, but I got lucky and killed the ogre, looted and ran for the Tox zone line again. Things to note about the failed method are that the various snares and roots overwrite one another (I think) and it made the situation a mess. But I am reasonably certain I had the ogre far separated from the human a Blacksail Brigands, and it seemed like they had zone wide aggro for their buddy, which is similar to the Green Legion Commander in Gor'Ukar Mesa. Also, much to my relief, they don't despawn immedidately if you loose aggro. You have some time to play around with your plan, zone if it doesn't work and try again without having to completely restart the quest. And I did this entirely solo, not even with outside buffs.

I soloed it with my Shadow Knight. I popped my defensive disc followed by Intensity of the Resolute and then burned the ogre down with lifetaps. With intensity running it would double crit nearly everytime. Once the ogre died I just Feigned off the other 2 and waited for them to leave. Looted, scooted, handed-in. Task done.

They are very easy to kite as a 75 wizard. I have done it solo 4 times for the wizard and 3 alt/bot toons. Target the yellow con take it down first. The other two can be rooted. You can kill them or loot the needed drop and evac.

It can be soloed...no doubt. I have soloed every mission for every Isle up to the FireGob Isle. Vinelash all 3 in place, then only fully snare/root the two adds - you have 6 tics and Troll will break free and chase you....run down the beach with him towards rats, etc and kill at your leisure - he does not summon.

Backhand and Each Finger are sub-combines and all require a Bone Joint Compound (container) which costs 10 Doubloons from the Blacksail Smuggler Merchant (near Darius Blythe on Jardel's Hook). The fingers and backhand are then combined also in another Bone Joint Compound to make the final augment, Jonas Dagmire's Skeletal Hand. In total this makes 7 combines, so requires 7 Bone Joint Compound containers, i.e. 70 Doubloons and enough faction to get the merchant to trade with you.

I have not requested any tasks from Barren Coast yet. I'm still working through the pile in Buried Sea at present, so my information concerns primarily Buried Sea. I'm up to 15 bones collected now with several more active tasks showing bone rewards yet to come. Faction is only amiable at present, so kindly faction or higher defintely isn't any requirement to get past the 9th bone.

Some NPCs on Jordel's Hook island offer tasks which do not require you to hunt the other islands in the zone. Scurvacious Bella, Bilgewater Bill, Murderous Mal, and Darius all offer such tasks. A few of the tasks will show bone rewards in preview, but most will not. You'll find that on subsequent tasks from the same NPC, the bone reward options appear only once the task is completed.

Other NPCs on Jordel's Hook island offer tasks which require you to hunt the other islands in the zone. Logan offers tasks for Blacksail Folly, Sid Hawke offers tasks for Dreadbone Reef, Capt Pete and Pirate Smythe both offer tasks for Maidens Grave, Ricarn and Johnny Black Crow both offer tasks for Redfeather Isle.

I assume the NPCs in Barren Coast offer tasks involving Monkey Rock and Suncrest and they likewise will follow a similar pattern of task accessibility.

The pattern emerging regarding the tasks on islands other than Jordels Hook, is generally that 1st task completed on a particular island offers no bone reward, 2nd task completed on same island will offer bone only on completion of task, 3rd 4th 5th tasks show bones up front in preview. Key is completing tasks related to a particular island, and not necessarily all tasks will come from a single quest giver.

There's at least 8 solo task givers in The Buried Sea zone - and theres more than 9 tasks available from them - as far as I recall different tasks aren't unlocked with faction, just some of the rewards. There are also a bunch more solo tasks in the Barren Coast zone.

Combines for Jonas Dagmire's Hand?

BTW the thumb only has 3 bones in it - those are all listed on Lucy.

Jonas Dagmire's Skeletal Hand
# Feb 28 2007 at 3:18 PM Rating: Decent
All the tasks are given by the pirates - you should be able to get a few with finger bones as rewards immediately and doing these will unlock more as rewards. Later, faction seems to play a part to unlock more task rewards, as well as doing some tasks for no apparent reward beyond cash/faction.

The key is perseverance - keep checking different task givers & rewards on tasks you may have, they do change!

It's 27 different tasks for the 27 parts, but you need to do more than that to unlock all of the rewards available, and to get your faction high as well.

Good luck & enjoy!

Jonas Dagmire's Skeletal Hand

I would assume you get this by collecting the few dozen bone pieces of Jonan's hand and then somehow combining together into one single aug.

Yup - 27 parts to it, formed to make the whole hand =)
