This made a great weapon for my level 30 beastlord pet. I bought one in the bazaar for 10pp and my pet’s max damage went from 32 to 64. I didn’t get much in the way of loot where I was hunting, but the added experience I gained from the additional kills was well worth the investment.
It doesn't suck, why is it 50pp on every server I've checked?
It's a mystery to me...it can't be THAT easy to obtain.
I think this one item has skewed the entire 2HB market, and the whole weapon market to some degree. If it weren't warrior-only, just imagine the stuff you could buy for double digits. :)
Blunt or slahing, 2H is 2H, and 30/40 is a damn nice ratio for mere mortals. That's a 75% ratio. It'll outdamage a pair of 50% ratio one-handers until you've levelled into the 50s and spent some AA on dual-wield. You'll certainly be hitting hard enough to keep aggro on under-40 mobs, if the ranger doesn't insist on getting it.
At level 20 (when the damage cap goes away), it's the best 50pp you'll ever spend! You'll be godlike at 20, and set for the next 20+ levels if you want. You can even be a soloing warrior, if you want. I did that with a 28/45 Mithril Staff, back when, and went from 25 to 32 damn fast. If I hadn't needed to practice up 2HB from around 40, it would have been even faster. I scrimped, saved and killed an ASSLOAD of wisps and bandits for that weapon. Paid 700pp, a good price in those days. Now these are 50 plat! People still want more for the Mithril Staff (Good luck).
A 30/40 weapon would have been even sicker and wronger (in a good way hehe), in the hands of a warrior in their 20s.
So again, why is it so extremely cheap? One of life's little mysteries.
it's simple WAR only 2HB the warrior only label drops the price down significantly 2HB ... not many warriors work on their 2HB skill so the demand for 2HB weapons is low; hence the low price but hey ... for those of us who have a decent 2HB skill: low prices rule
Bet those warriors are starting to regret not training 2hb, now that GreatStaff of Thunder has dropped so much in price. That is one nice aggroing 2hb!
A guildie warrior bought this for 10pp but replaced it with Venomous Axe of the Velium Brood and Smoldering Brand so he passed it on to my warrior. Just wish I had better 2HB skill (current is 0...)
I have 2 warriors (53 & 55) that use this weapon. For those who say this weapon stinks... Bah. However, the price has dropped considerably. My first battlehammer, I won in Chardok in Nov/01. I just recently bought two more in EC (1 for 250pp & 1 for 300PP). Gave one to a guildy. Consistently hit +100 with this hammer... As a warrior you want to keep all your weapon skills maxed. If you happen to get one of these weapons you will not be disappointed.
My very first hit with it was 122 dam..my best hit was 185. My average dam in a fight is about 75 with fairly reg hits getting closer to a 100. My warrior using this is currently 35 with 2hb maxed for the lvl. He alternates between the hammer and dual wakazashis of frozen skies depending on what im hunting. Stay safe all and good hunting
While hunting giants in RM I had the following converstation with a warrior 2 lvl lower then me.
"Since I have better ac" he said, "You should let me tank." "Let you tank?" I replied, "What weapons are you using?" "A lam" and some other fast weapon, i forget the name. "Seems to me that I shouldn't have to let you tank all I'm using is a Sarnack Battlehammer."
Now I didn't happen to menction the fbss I was wearing as well, but my point is don't assume that the faster weapon will always hold agro. Before, this conversation I would of bet a Lam would of held agro. I have seen more than one time that a good 2hb or 2hs has held agro. As for getting mobs off cleric and casters, 8 out of 10 time in all the groups i was in over the weekend I was the one to regain agro after the mob attack a non melee.
This is a great weapon, and there seems to be a lot of them for sell since the Chardock changes. I payed 1000pp for mine and it is worth every cp.
I was also part of a guild raid on RE. We had two groups. With me and the lam packing war as MA for the two diffrent groups. When his group took on the MM he and to run for his life, do to the damage he took from the DS the MM has. My group got there after the MM was back to full hit points. We took him no problem, and I was never low on Hp.
All in all this is one of the better weapons in the game.
Sure at higher lvl the lam will take the agro. And speed will play a larger roll, but don't buy into the mith that speed always take agro. More often than not at higher lvl speed equils more damage and that is why the faster weapons hold agro. And for most weapons speed starts to take over between lvl 45 and 55.
And sometime like when fighting a mob with a damage shield slow is better. One other advantage i have noticed for two hand weapons, when fighting mobs that tend to run, the run with a lot less hp if you are using two hand weapon
this is a nice weapon and id say that 4 out of 5 warriors on my server i talk to only use slash. i used to be one of them untill i thought "wait a tick, this whole blunt thingy might be worth it." so i checked up on some of the warrior only blunt weapons and *gasp* they are pretty dang nice. heh guess im gonna live up to tha surname now.
I have never used 2handed blunt weapons until somone gave me a Mith Staff. Before I was using a silvery war axe and a BBK, well its an upgrade to those two 1hs weapons. Now I'm using the Sarnak Battlehammer which has the same exact stats as the Velium Claidmore which runs about 12k. The only differnce is that the Claidmore is 2hs rather than 2hb like the battlehammer is. Two-handed blunt weapons are overlooked and underrated for warriors and probably the cause for the low price and difficulty to sell it. At level 27 I can deal a big ammount of damage between 60-90points.

Warrior only - the only reason to use 2hander is to do decent damage while avoiding agro.
If you want low agro and decent damage you may be better dual weilding a slow weapon, there are plenty of accesable 2h weapons better than this since velious.
Sweet weapon. I hit hard and reasonably fast with it. It looks terrible though. Why do a lot of the best weapons look like newbie weapons. How about some new graphics. Please.
yeah, wtf is up with the BABS??? it looks like a rusty short sword even though it is an awesome two hander....i say it's time to get some signatures and start harrassing verant...who's with me???!!!
