This is one of the many "intelligent" items in EQ that will randomly talk to you if equipped. This can be filtered if you get tired of seeing it but I think they are fun. All 3 stages of this evolving mask talk out loud.
This face mask, "The Skull of Den Lord Rakban", is the 3rd and final stage of an evolving item. The original mask is the result of a series of Quests in "The Depths of Darkhollow". This is an excellent series with a great story. Along the way you gain insta-click items that grant +50 to each resist (except Corruption) until you finally combine all 5 to create the "Ancient Werewolf Skull." For more info and Quest links, see the item links below:

Both Blade of the Eclipse and Blade of the Newborn Vampire were 75% compatible. A fully evolved BotNV took my mask from level 1 (15%) to level 1 (98%) and was fully drained. The fully evolved BotE would have taken it to level 2 (0%) and been drained down to level 2 (20%).
I just aquired this and am wanting to know how to evolve this item quickly ~ or pretty much just how to evolve a item ~ i have heard many different versions ~ n e help would b great ~
I jumped my mask from level 1 to level 2 by transferring learned XP from other items. First I had a Wrap of Seven Blessings @69% (Evolved 5/7+69%) which got drained completely to bring my mask to 43%. Second thing was a fully evolved Wrap of the Pantheon (Evolved 7/7) which brough my mask up to 2/3 and left the wrap at 1/7+51%. I did XP the mask to 44% & 45% so the second wrap only needed to provide 55%.
Apparently this mask can only be transferred up to 2/3 so you must evolve to the 3rd level from regular XP. I have tried several places and the one that has worked best for me is the Mephits in The Plane of Nightmare. They have relateively low HPs for being Dark Blue and I can keep burning through them with no downtime. (SK - 800+ AAs)
The experience on evolving items is based on volume of mobs killed rather than from how hard they are too kill. So AEing a bunch of mobs that are barely dark blue will level the item much more quickly than a normal exp group would.
Not that I even care remotely. My only disc that uses any ammount of endurance is the new 69 one for Beastlords. But wouldn't you think a high end reward like this would have endurance as well, being an all all item? Or maybe it's just a typo. Screenshot please! "_"
Just my 2cp.
