Unfortunatly not, I just tried making this ring for one of my newer toon and wasent able to create it.. Im a bit disappointed and wished I had seen some of the other posts earlier, before spending my pp for the components. ~_~
After new expansion the recipe to make this is gone from the game and it won't combine. I reported it as a bug. Only the non-enchanted version with no stats can be made at the moment. I jacked my prices figuring I'd like to make my last 20 last until they fix this.
Sure, the extra AC is nice for the melee classes, and an extra 65 hitpoints can never hurt for any class. But you fail to see the true reason for this ring! I'm sure Verant didn't intend it for this use but hey...
Now who likes losing experience? Or if you play pvp who likes to get looted? Well this ring can grant you a solution to both of those problems! The true purpose of this ring is to be pulled. It gets harder as mobs hit harder and faster, but you can still time it right. Simply when you get below 65 hp and know you are going to die, take the ring off. You won't lose exp, and if you are on pvp, whoever is killing you won't get credit for the kill therefore no loot. Sure this may be a cheap trick in some of your books, but it exists in the game therefore you should all exploit it to the fullest degree!
Actually taking the ring off or putting it on does not change your current HP...all it changes is maximum total HP. So taking the ring off wouldn't do anything except lower your AC for that last hit you take..
I find that these are almost alwayS 600pp each or 1k fer a pair. A decent price for such a nice ring. As a warrior, I use two of these, but am thinking about getting a Shadel Bandit Ring to replace one of them. Think this is a could trade off for the extra resists? It is all a matter of preference. If you find you are never being beat on by mobs, than by all means the str/dex rings are better. But even as a rogue, I find myself tanking way too often, and I imagine you do the same, especially if you act as a puller.
Most people agree that AC is king, at least until you hit some soft cap. Personally i value 1 ac at about 3 str, and 5 dex or agi, but that is personal preference, and monks may be different.
If you want a litlle more middle of the road, and a cheaper way to go, you could go with jagged bands, but I say go with these velium fire opal rings.
Would be better to have these. Raw AC and HP does much better then you could ever do with stats. (If you didn't know, most higher level melee classes could care less about stats and try for more AC/HP)
Don't go waste your time camping giants or buying a fire opal for a ton of money. Just give Genni in the Temple 55pp, she asks for 550gp but it doesn't matter, super easy quest and nice reward. If you're a wiz and want to make some money selling these, just bind at the goblin headmaster spawn in OOT. Then you can port to, or very close to the other locations. Even easier quest if you're a druid ) __________________________________________________ Oops, this was supposed to be posted under search for "Harvester" ... sorry
I have never known the temple of Ro or any of its inhabitants to give any items to someone without having a player con Amiable. But i could be wrong, i have never gotten a fire opal. I just know that i had a hell of a time trying to do any of the other quests in the temple because of my faction.
After hearing some of ur troubles i now cosider myself really lucky :) My friend Rangemange has a girl. Shes an enc with 250 jewelcrafting. I asked him if he could arrnage a pair of these. EZ get fire opals (quest) let her buy vel bars. My cost her Vel bars. Saves me a lot :) trouble and cost
You have to remember though 1AC at higher lvl's is always more than 1ac stat wise. I'm lvl 50 now and 1AC = about 3ac to me now. Donno but that can really help to keep a fellow alive.
The jewelers (skill like 250+ and usually lvl 55+ too) who can make the plat version also make these. They won't bother making the plat version, and waving tons of pp around at them barely gets their attention anyway.
And no, it is not you. I figured I would save some pp by getting the plat ring and was told by 9 jewelers "no it is velium or not at all." And it still took a week to get them delivered.
I had the same problem on Tholuxe Paells last week, trying to get one made. I took a different approach, though. When the 5th one in a row turned me away after I offered 500 for the platinum version, I broadcast it to the entire zone not to bother giving the person specific orders, as he'd only make what HE wanted to make, and not what YOU wanted.
15 minutes later, I got my platinum ring from him, at cost. :)
This will be a nice upgrade to my plat ones... Im going to start saving fire opals again =) The recipe for this item is 1 enchanted velium bar and 1 fire opal. I wouldnt attempt without over 200 skill. I hear these velium bars cost 236 plat with enchanter CHA...Fails will sting so bad... /em cringed at the thought of failing on velium. and im not even a jewelry maker =p
they seem to drop off the sea furies in oot pretty often, but they can be 'quested' from the temple, handing the npc the gold, not buying from a merchant, I still never buy them though, just save the ones I get then have a friend make a few attempts for me :)
There is a NPC in Temple of Ro who will give you one Fire Opal for 55p or 550 gold. Her name is Genni, and she is on the second floor, near Ostorm, on the right side as you enter the main chamber. I believe you must have Apprehensive or better faction with Ro to get it. Good Luck.
The NPC's name is Genni. You must say to her 'Sell me a fire opal'. You can then give her 55pp worth of coins (does not have to be 550 gold like she asks) and you will get some faction with the temple and lowered faction with the shadowed men and a fire opal. If you are buying multiples then make sure to ask her to sell you one each time. (I lost 55pp by not asking...).
