I had a couple of these...one with my bard as he grew up, and another that I looted with my rogue down inside the AnkleSmasher camp. Not sure who I picked it up off from, but I actually had another rot because it is lore, and I couldn't loot it as well. Sold both the one that my bard had and the one my rogue looted in bazaar - but not for much. The stats just aren't that great, in my opinion. With the intricate and elaborate weapons that are floating around, this sword seems to be less important that it was in days gone by. Am I missing something?

Just because an item is no longer up to par compared to other items, they don't stop dropping in old zones. This item was from 13 years ago.
Most younger bards, including myself way back, wrongly think that when their wpn procs it disrupts your song mix. What really happens is a new timer starts that is zero cast time and that new timer overwrites the one displayed when you are twisting songs. Example: You are twisting a regen, a shield, and a haste song. You watch your caster-singing timer bar to know when a new song has taken effect before you click or key a different song to keep the 3-song rotation going. You usually dont watch the messages on your main message window that say messages like: you feel faster, you begin to regenerate, etc. Then all of a sudden, during the middle of watching the timer bar, it gets wiped and you look down to see if you were interrupted or something and you see the message about your wpn proc'ing. You immediatly think that the proc has canceled your song and you immediately reclick or rekey the previous song in your 3-song rotation. What really happened was: You were singing a song that has a delay before it takes effect. You get a timer bar to watch to see how close you are before the effect happens. Your wpn proc'd and you no longer have a timer bar to watch. You canceled your song and immediatly restarted the same song with the original delay all over again. What you should do: You are singing a 3-song rotation. You are watching the timer bar to time your 3-song rotation. Your wpn procs and you lose your song timer bar. You do nothing except now watch for the messages on the message window. You remember which of your 3-song rotation you were on so you should recognize the message when it comes up as: you feel faster, you begin to regenerate, etc. You now know that the set delay for a song has gone by and that song you were in middle of is now starting. Now you just begin your next song in your 3-song rotation and again see the normal song delay timer bar again. No harm no Foul, just when when a wpn procs you lose your visable song timer bar. It doesnt cancel your song or interrupt your singing twist or anything. It only takes a little getting used to.
ok can someone tell me why my sword isnt working? i use it and it's OK but the effect is supposted to kick in at 50 someone told me 53 and another told me 51. i'm 51 right now how do i know if it's working...and what's the point of the effect? can someone please help me out.
The prov only means that it CAN have that effect, no that it will every time, if you are having trouble getting it to proc, get DEX+ equipment, the higher your DEX is, the more often you weapons will proc
One thing I noticed most people overlooking in their rants on this weapon is the +10 charisma. OMFG this is awesome for that extra little cha boost when doing crowd control.
Don't really care when/if it ever procs that cha boost is just awesome :)
I just bought this for my lev 27 Bard for 400pp in Bazaar - there were 3 for sale most expensive was 650pp - looks like great weapon cant wait to try it pity I wont get proc for ages though
Bought this in bazaar for 480pp. Hope that I made a good choice... As I just got dual wield with my bard I use this in primary and centi short sword in secondary. Hit for around 25 with both hands wich is nice...

One, go alone to a easier zone with good loot. Two, settup vendor mule on other account. Three, Collect allot of cash. Four, Buy sword for 1K at bazaar and give to brothers bard.

I have the Saber and the Partisian, great combo. Though I usually only use the Sabre on raids, hoping for the proc, so I dont get lvl agro. Use Centi L.S. normally. I am at lvl 47 now, but when raiding with 50+ you get alot of aggro. But as of yet, I have yet to see the Saber proc. Harmony!
Terrek Wyldesong Forsaken Lords The Bard of Norrath
to the post below it doesnt proc at 40 havnt tried it at 41 yet, i dinged died and then got a rezz so i dont know but i doubt it does im guessing around 45 if its 50 ill be suprised but i love the weap without the proc its nice =)
Picked one up at 53 and it procs fairly frequently. Downside is that the proc can disrupt your song twisting if it fires during the cast time of your current song. You have to watch the dialog closely to see that it's happened. Can be a little frustrating until you get used to it while fear kiting a hard hitter.
That's the perennial problem with proccers :) Dual wielding Short Swords of the Ykesha for a bit basically compelled me to make another Chat Window for JUST Bard songs. I don't really use the casting bar anymore for anything other than knowing I started a song :)
OK, I have seen this swrod drop several times, off VARIOUS mobs. I play a 58 mage, and go solo chardok bored for some ez exp. Camp the zone in mobs, wich some are light blue now. this sword is FULLY random and can drop off any mob in zone. I have seen it drop of higher mob like the Shi Din bonecaller (SP) and a sarnac reqruit. I GOOD group of mid 40 can handle the zone in, and has a chance to get this sword, and various other loots. MOSt drops in chardok are random of any mob. with that said, this is primarily a 50+ zone to safely hunt in in groups, and 56+ is recomended. the deeper you go, the stronger they get, where a full raid of 4 groups 56+ can get wiped.
now, forgive my rant, and i realize that im going to get flamed, or demoted for this, but heres what im going to say (Without being rude, without yelling, without all that nonesense that just ruins post credibility):
**Level to Attain: 40**
--This item is found on creatures. A Chokidai Mangler (Chardok)--
~~A Chokidai Mangler Minimum Level: 55 Maximum Level:56~~
okay... does anyone here see a slight problem?
When i go to check for items i wish to obtain for my enchanter, or for sales, i like to see the level requirements. There, i see a handy 40, so i say to myself "Alright! some cash! Lets go see what else the monster drops!" and fwammo, its level 55.
sigh, i just wish that the person that sends these items in would tell us the general level of the mob. I mean, lets say, yes, this was obtained by a level 40 cleric or enchanter (the 2 feasable classes that can go with a high level group at a lower level), now, think to yourself "mob was red to me" and atleast post "43" as the level, or ask around in your group. if it was blue to that level 57 and red to that level 53, its level 56, and post that.
thats all im asking, and i know im not going to change anything by posting this, i just have some time on my hands waiting for the bloody game to load into the bazzar.
this is an everage level..for instance..you solo cannot take on this mob BUT if a full group of 40+ came in they cold...sure its red to you but most mobs are and just takes soem work...they are not saying that a 40 alone could take it but its a recomended minimum level to even enter the place or you would be commiting suicide
Kitkoran Tunereaver 54 bard Sisu Dapainbringer 54 sk,crusader of greenmist Kirra Lunarpaw 41 Beastlord
No sir, a level 40 group could NOT take this mob. Not unless they are in full Kunark armor with awesome weapons. Then....maybe. But the sheer effort it takes to get to this camp without being clustered by all the mobs in this zone, not to mention the fact that those mobs would all be red to everyone in the group, and then add the fact that most of those mobs are casters of some type...well, what does it all spell? Disaster for a 40s group, even if full.
This is most certainly 50+ to obtain. Probably 55+ if you want to be safe.
A group of mid 40s could EASILY do the zone in .. now this means camping the first 3, maybe 4 if its a good group, spawn points .. but the mana it would take to keep them healed would warrent the downtime anyway. In my time in chardok, i have yet to see a caster spawn in the entire zone in tunnel .. no casters to my knowledge till down around the fort.
HOWEVER, I say this because, at 57, i can single any mob in the zone in tunnel with no problems .. i have no clue if a group of 40s could do this, but given mob spacing i would think they can.
It would have to be a very solid group .. no velks zone in pickup type trash .. but i would argue it could be done.
However this argument is silly, the Level to attain is clearly a mistake, if you look at the level to attain on similar quality drops from other zones.
And your right, the sheer effort required to get to this camp / camp this item (its not like its a common drop) for a group of 40s makes it ludacris(sp? :P) to attempt.
I would have to agree, you shouldn't be stepping foot in Chardok without a well put together 50+ group and preferably a 54+ chanter or bard. I got this last night out of the Lev Tunnel on our way down to the Foreman, no way a 40's group would survive in that tunnel, the respawn time is fast and if mez does not stick someone will die. It's 50+ easily...
Looks like a standard MK 1 steel shortsword - too bad ! Then again I got mine cheap (around 3k) and its top dollar for a a left hand bard weapon, at least up into the high 40ies. The CHA +10 come in very handy with mez-resists and charms.

Typically what you will find is that the effect will be either triggered (as is the case with some of the higher level bard armor) or a random proc (as is the case with this weapon)
