DON'T use this.
I see SO many Bards using this silly weapon. All you will achieve is to proc this bad boy 10-15 times, and end up getting your butt handed to you when the MOB decides to squish you for being annoying.
Look for weapons with a DoT proc (Kicsh Der Pavs is excellent as is the Poisoned Whip) or an effect Proc (Gnoll Hide Lariat absolutely has to be one of the best sub-50 weapon a bard can have, I've had it on me since 35)

1. When you say 10-15 times do you mean per fight? cause that's a LOT of dd per fight at 37 (when yak procs).
2. How much dex does it take to proc the yak 10-15 times per fight?

Gnoll hide lariet is a great weapon for a bard in a melee group. low damage means nothing since our melee sux anyway. Bards have high dex tho and that means dual wielding lariets are stun city. Think about it -- stunned mobs don't cast and stunned mobs miss an attack.

I think your wrong. The Gnoll Hide Lariot is a very nice weapon for sub 50, but only if your attacking a caster. Not a weapon for the tank, rather for the assisters who don't do as much melee damage anyway. Stun interupts casting and is very effective when they are trying to run. I wish more people used them, my *** wouldn't get toasted so much when tanking.

I agree about the Lariat, great weapon for the proc. I am a rogue and I use it when I am soloing. I get my backstab in a lot more often when the mob is stunned than I could if it was facing me (considering I their back is not towards me when they are facing me!) While true the weapons damage leaves a bit to be desired, I started using it simply because my 1HS sucked and with the low delay I was able to quickly improve my stats. Also, you can't go wrong with the additional AC. So I can't really say how good it is for Bards (or any other class honestly since I am a die hard rogue player) but it procs enough for me to make the extra backstabs worth missing the extra points of frontal damage. Not to mention with my high dex/agi I don't get hit much and my SBD is procing (is that even a word..procing?!) away making my fight all the more fun.

Yeah mabey you wouldnt be able to have 2 at a time but theres other weapons out there. Anyways by making it lore noone going to camp it just to get 10 and go sell

look for a dragon horn ykesha, 1 less delay, less weight, and ranger only so it costs way less. only problem is that its a piercer... procs 1 level earlier though (not that that matters to you at 39)

I agree with him farming just cause you want 50k in your bank is wrong... and it makes it hard for people to get the camp for it cause they need it...camp what you need.. and if others come to camp let them have it if they need it just dont say no cause you want 3 or 4 more

It really sucks that all the Pharmers and Ebayers have taken away the value of this sword. I remember when you couldnt touch one of these for less than 10K. Now it goes for about 1 - 2K tops.
Damn servers are inundated with these. Maybe one day Verant will step in and put a stop to pharming. Untill then the rest of us gotta suffer.

You think prices have gone to hell? I see the yak go for 800-1200p, more often on the lower end. I like the proc, I actually saw it proc a few times on my first fight as lvl 37.

Necros can't use this... no. But they can slash, there are weapons for casters to slash, but the skill cap is 0.

Get your facts straight, no one pharms the ghoul lord. First off he and his two "body guards" are way to hard to take by yourself, therefore a gorup is required, and it really isn't pharming any more. Second, why pharm the yak off the ghoul lord, when u can pharm something like the ghoul sage, supplier, frenzy, or arch magus for their much better loot and not have to deal with mobs that are in the upper 40s. Third, the reason why the price has dropped on the yak, is because of better items, and yaks are really common. I've only killed 2 lords, the second one dropped the yak, and look around, almost every lvl 30 character has a yak or two. Yaks aren't common from pharmers, but just regular people who group to camp the lord room for exp. Trust me, ive been in guk for 10 lvls, no one pharms the lord, they pharm sage most often, and sometimes supplier, or if they want a challange, they go for the frenzy or arch magus.

Actually farming makes the item worth less which you should be happy about unless you are one of the farmers personally i have no problem with getting a Yak for 8k less then you used to

You know what is funny - the item has been in the game what... 2+ years now. I am pretty sure no one is destroying these, so of course there gets to be a bigger supply. And with Kunark and Velious coming out with much better items, demand has fallen off. Sheesh - learn basic economics if you are going to whine about an economy

It's thanks to twits like that guy that make me want to retch. It's called supply, demand, and availability. A lot of people are selling off their Yaks because of better items available on Velious. To most of them, they really don't care about the money, as they more than likely have more than they know what to do with. They just want to get something out of the deal. Myself, I'm saving for a pair of them. Good luck on that, though. :)

ALL magic weapons should be Lore items.
ALL magic weapons should be No Drop -- unless your class can't equip it. You should always be able to give away an item you can't use.
If these two (three, technically) changes were made, the abuses of the game system by twits and "farmers" would be drastically reduced. It'd be a hell of a lot better for people who actually want to play.

you want all magic items to be lore? why? i duel weild two frozen long swords, they go great together, why make them lore? to make it harder for me to get a good duel weild goin? i tried fls and silvery war axe, prob was, silver axe didn't like attacking, even with 120 + duel weild it still wouldn't attack, nothing i have used has ever attacked in combo with frozen long sword. magic = lore is a very bad thing for me trying to find a weapon.

Your suggestion may stop farming but there are consequences. Part of the reward for fighting a spawn is its loot. But part of the reward is also exp. By stopping a few farmers you are penalizing the rest of us should the item drop while we are looking for exp. Loot like the Yak should never be forced to rot.
The problem with farmers is that they are taking up places that other players want. Fortunately they have mostly moved to Velious.

This is true the problem with farmers is that hthey do take camps that others need for exp and making an item no drop causes alot of decent weapons to be thrown away after the player upgrades 2 or 3 times. ANd there are lot of Pharmers in Velious sometimes you can't even hunt in Crystal Cavrerns cause of all the 50+ there my 2cp
