It was, but they fixed it. it was a bug...bastage
I've seen some no-rent items in my guild bank. Not sure if they are there all the time though.
if your so worried about server resets then do the quest 700 gazillion times each time getting killed and leaving it on the corpse, its not a tough quest and in case your server goes down you 699 gazillion blah blah left.

I remember everybody was so upset about having to do the Crown of Deceit quest for rogue epic 1.5+ because regular Illusion: Wood Elf apparently won't cut it. This is exactly the same clicky, won't it do as well?

Ok, I am in a dilemma: I created a Dwarven warrior in 1999, with high hopes of making him the best warrior the Saryrn server had ever seen. Unfortunately, it is 5 years later, and I have grown a strong dislike for Dwarves. I hate playing him, but I love the class. An enchanter recently cast a feir'dal illusion on me and I loved it! Now I am trying my hardest to find some kinda item that I can hold in my inventory, that allows me to change at will, without a spell or money. I was reading this quest and was so damn excited..until I realized it was no rent. WTF?! Guess im forced to do the Crown of Deceit quest, huh?

lets see here a no rent item and putting it on a corpse before you log, yeah umm that wont work...........give a good guess on how meny times YOUR server goes down a year? well i am on inny and i can guess around 20 or 30 times a year? and thats just the crashes
Well, back when the OTHER posts were made, there was some risk in leaving an item on a corpse, due to to corpse decay. HOWEVER, since they put in shadowrest (graveyard zone) there is almost NO risk in this, as corpses no longer decay, they just move to shadowrest.

Everyone keeps complaining about the no-rent part... just get killed in a zone right off of PoK in a duel, and then when you log back on, go loot your body. No-rent items can sit on a corpse indefinitely as long as you loot them back within a week, because a corpse never logs off.
Just go drown in the pool.

no xp loss in PoK? otherwise dueling still the best option
Unless the zone or servers reset, then you SoL.

No "genius corpses that have items on them are re-poped not toally gone.. what would you do if you went LD and died and they repoped servers and you lsot your corpse? GM's dont wanna have to deal with that

Did anyone try to attach an augment to it ? According to the duscription it has a slot 7.

A Dark Elf cleric in our guild loved to get these if he knew he was going to be on for a long time. He did try the augment thing out but it still remains no rent. When you log, it will disappear with the augment.
It is augmentable, but it is still NO RENT when augmented.

Has anyone tried this in conjunction with the Crown of Deceit quest? I mean using this illusion on the old froglok to raise faction enough to get the crown from him?
I would be curious to know if it helps.

Why dothis quest if its no rent... pointless
As useful as no rent bags..... which are NOT useless. Pointless.... geez, so you didn't get the most amazing item in the game for your tiny little effort. Cry me a river.

i think no rent items r useless, the bags too, just use a handmade back pack.
If you want to keep it, have someone duel you (this way you lose no exp) and leave it on your corpse.
Have you seen the quest? It takes minutes to complete. Compared to the wood elf illusion helm, which is not no rent, I think this is a pretty fair quest for an illusion item, even if it is no rent.

Well its probally an intermediate item theres probally another quest to make it non no rent.
