I camped the AC solo as a level 32 wizard. I found the saltwater crocs, which are the placeholders for the Ancient Croc, to be very susceptible to root and nuke tactics. The other crocs would not add unless you ran close to them while fighting. The experience was excellent, and with a total camping time of about 5 hours spread out over 3 sessions, I came away with 2 pairs of legs and 1 pair of sleeves. I wore the sleeves until level 53 or so. So yes, they are doable for a wizard in the low 30s.
u got 3 pops in 5 hours? thats 3 pops in 20 spawn chances i have had 0 in 112, yes that ZERO in 112 pops, total time waste dby this cheating game which hates me and i hate it of
over THIRTY HOURS including 8a.m til 2a.m and still awake being forced to sit here until the AC pops as CHEATINg by the game blatant cheating cannot be allowed to win
The spawn time on these are 16 mins and some change.I use a digital timer so this is a fact not an estimate. In 11 kills with an Int based class ive gotten 10 arms and one legs. Also Over the 112 spawns he's popped 11 times so about a 1 in 10 chance.Ive never waited over 4 hours for the pop and have had him pop back to back(once).Items are not lore so u can get as many as you can stand.Bring a book or have a tv handy :).
I havent played the game in a while, but i noticed the other day when i signed on that these arms have a haste on them. What does the haste do, and why does it come up when i cast buffs on myself and on my pet?
Hmm. This makes sense. The AC is level 31 so you prolly need to be around 24 in a group to hunt this mob unless your just xp siphoning. If your with a partner you will be closer to 28, so the effect is basically useless. By the time you get your 24 and 29 level buffs, you won't be casting too many level 20 buffs, therefore, this item is for twinks. This is another item that implies the VI wants you to twink.
The Cougar Claw Earrings are the same they have a lvl 20 or below focus but you have to be lvl 30ish to get them looks to me like VI is encouraging twinking, why else would you have a lvl 20 affect on a lvl 30 item?
I am afraid the VI folks kind of mis-labeled this effect. These are the focus effects. This particular one decreases the cast time on "enhancements." Buffs, that is. And since it is a "level I" focus effect it only decreases the cast time on spells for level 20 and under. Hope this helps clear that up.
Just got done hanging out at AC room for about 24 hrs (had to leave for a few to goto store and such), but the crocs are now on an 18 min spawn cycle. The AC is truely a random spawn, I saw him at 10pm when I took over the camp from previous duo (they got legs), and didn't see him until 9pm the next day when I got the sleeves, then just as I was about to gate out about 10:30pm he spawned again & I got the legs!! Woot! I had no problem pulling single salties and got exp for all until I dinged 40, then there were a few that were aqua but most green after that. Hope this helps some potential campers.

I must have been really lucky. I'm a level 30 human necro and I've never really been to Guk apart from to get the sceptre needed for the shadowbound gloves, but as a human I thought the INT on this item would be useful.
So I found my way to the correct part of Guk. And there was the ancient crocodile already spawned. Conned white to me. But with a pet and full mana I killed it easily with no problems and first time it dropped the sleeves. So I got them and gated out. Lucky or what?
Same happened when my druid was young... got all geared up for a long boring camp, grabbed a book, came down, saw the ac.. killed him... got legs =) Great when a camp works out that way.
Of course right now i've been camping it again for my magician, and have yet to see him in 4 hours =P

i just want to know which is the rare drop the sleeves or legs, i have gotten nothin but sleeves, while others get nothin but legs. happy to know any info on this.
Hee hee Hee, I have camped the AC for about 9 levels now =) 29-38. Me be a cleric, I have seen more sleeves then legs, in my experience, there really is no set pattern of how they drop, as with the AC himself, it's totally random.
i'd be interested to know whether you're an int or wis caster... now i can't really give verant too much credit, but i've hunted the croc MANY times and i've gotten about 12 pairs of legs and no sleeves.. and i'm a druid. Wondering if drop might be related to class?? never heard of that happening before, but it sounds like that might be the case.. (see post from lvl 30 necro saying got sleeves on first drop)
I'm a lvl 37 pally and have camped the crocs for several levels. Great exp, only the odd rune or two to loot. When the Ancient eventually spawns, in my experience he drops sleeves 3 times , then drops the legs. I got really lucky the other day and he spawned twice in a row. I felt so lucky I almost sent in a bug report.

I'm trying to get together an all leather look for my wizard (currently brown leather), and before I'm going to save up lots of cash for this item I'd like to know:
Do the gatorscale sleeves show up as brown leather sleeves on a high-elf?
And: does anyone know which items I should look for when it comes to the hands & feet slots? I've already gathered the items for body and legs...
Woo, good advice. It's sort-of silly, but since it's a game, I care what my characters look like almost more than what their stats are. My 46 cleric still wears the golden 30's quest armor, although has gotten his wis up to 198 on non-visible items. I've just started a dark elf wizard, and I very much want the same thing. She's a dark elf, and I want her to be able to avoid the robe look, which pretty much means leather, so I've got a Crystal Covered Shroud (? I think ?), for the chest leather look, mammoth hide leggings, and hopefully soon Gatorscale sleeves. I'll probably trade a lot of other items out, avoiding a high int robe as much as I can, although she's got 160-something int at level 4.
Me and my buddy spent 11 hours camping this guy and he only popped one time , he dropped the sleeves. We also had at least half a dozen people try to move in on our camp, if you want to get anything from this bad boy you'd better set aside your day.
