This shard dropped off a Sambata Tribal Worker in the back of hopper/sambata cave. 6/15/07

Wow, this one was easy, went in, and killed Rockhopper Ravager, 2 kills and got Shard. 2nd one poped where 1st one was, all the way in, far back cave. loc was 1150, -1750.

ihave been farming these fore three nites now...rockhoppers and sambatas...no shards. and when i say three nites i don't mean an hour!! been at this a cumulative of 14 hours so far! is this broken?

This one took me forever. Finaly got it off a Rockhopper. The thing about this zone is in the caves there are two sets of mobs, the Sambatas and the Rockhoppers. The sambatas are crap they dont frop anything worth havening. The rockhoppers drop hides that can be worth some plat in the bazaar. If the Rockhoppers are up dont kill the Age Old Rockhopper, this will de-spawn them and bring on the Sambatas, you dont want that. If the Sambatas are up use track ( if you got it) find the Sambata Leader and kill him, this will de-spawn them and bring on the rockhoppers. Every thing is green to a 65 so if you gotta be there you might as well kill rockhoppers and get the hides. Good luck

I am in the company of those for which the Shard seems Rare.

I camp the hopper caves in the mornings when I can't find a decent group and have killed close to 300 of them now without seeing a single Shard. I did however see an /ooc message about a week ago that one was rotting in front of the caves, but liking my camp deep inside, I opted not to go snag it.

I made one pass from the entrance to the first big room then began to work back out. The shard dropped on the way back out. Figured I was lucky. Spent the next two hours trying for a second but it didn't drop.

After Reading all previous, posts(crabs) I decided to update the information as I have just got my shard and it only took about 25 mins for me to get mine, noticed that it was dropping quite often, as a mmatter of fact, about 6 in a time frame of 2 hours. I apologize if this differs from previous post but as you may notice the post prior to this one are completely offdated. the game have changed(evolved) and so the rules and spawns and drops behaviors. hope you are not too discourage now.... Come on guys go get yours, I am a mage level 53 and was killing hoppers with a level 51 Necro, we killed 2 to 3 hoppers at the same time, guess they are not too though as they seems at my level of course... fairwell and hope everyone enjoys their playtime.. Its even rare. I killed around 300 hoppers and sambata now in the cave and still no shard :(

Camped the cave last night - had a grp four from 47-63. We ran between the 4 main rooms let the tank draw aggro and had pets assist. Then had the cleric (63) cast a HoT and then the druid and cleric open up with AE's med (with ft7 only didn't take long because the casters could stay on their horses). Then moved to next room prolly killed over 100 hoppers of all kinds, enraged, envenomed, ravagers etc... finally in the right back room this big gray "old" hopper appeared and aggroed in on us. Wiped the room and noticed folks in ooc getting all mad? Turns out killing that hopper spawns the tribals again. Hmm so much for skins but then we got those heavy chucks of unstackable metal. We killed a "keeper" where the "old" hopper appeared at least 4 times before I notice the BL getting pounded - but we had just cleared the room- it was an Erudite male known as tribal advisor took BL and 59SK. druid was oom - cleric was on last leg after all the casting of heals - finally rooted him and got medding - nuked him which briok root and had druid still oom clicky arms to dot on him. Bam level 60 mob exp to 56 druid aqnd 63 cleric nice exp for those two. Before the Advisor rotted another Advisor popped in the far left room. The keeper repopped and finally one of the workers dropped a shard. Must have been over two hours of flat house cleaning to get it. Was hard just time consuming. Watch out for that Advisor though he is definately no push over!

.....both. Rockhoppers and Sambata both drop the Lucid Shard with equal frequency. That frequency is very few and far between, but for sure they do both drop that item. As a Ranger, I don't have many things I can fear-kite AND make some PP's offa. The Rockhoppers are by far the most productive, and, having said that I hate to see the caves cleared by higher ups looking for thier shards. I have no ill feelings, I just wish they didn't have to kill the Ancient[or Age Old] to make the Sambata spawn, and they actually don't. I've had individuals tell me they understand and will leave that one spawn there so the rest of us can have an income that day - I love y'all. The others who just slay em all - I understand.....
