Get yourself a crapton of indium, rhenium, and tungsten. Even if you have to pay 15P per for each piece, I still recommend going this route.
Max Salvage. At least, I maxed salvage before I did it this way. And I spent a LOT less monet that way. Coal is expensive. So's the ore if you buy it in the bazaar. I won't pay 20 P....but I'll pay 15. Just my personal opinion on ore prices.
When you get ready to do shadowscream, save yourself a ton of frustration and just do indium. See that jump from indium to rhenium? Looks huge doesn't it? Well, let me tell you something. With salvage maxxed it ain't that bad. You would think you'd fail a LOT of combines. No, you don't. You dont' get a heck of a lot of skill ups at first, but at least you aren't wasting materials. As you get closer to trival, the skillups get faster.
I've spent literal hours farming that shadowscream stuff and I should've just farmed some plat and went the tradeskill ores route. I tried farming the other day (read that post, it's a primal scream...and it's beyond rediculous now.) I figured it woul take at least 30 minutes of farming FOR ONE TRY. PER ONE FREAKING TRY!!!!!
I think it took me about 300-400 tries to get to the next level.
You do the math.
F*** You!, Shadowscream armor. You suck.
