I don't think everyone is making excuses, they are just making a point. Not everyone has the time to sit at the comp all day and play this game, beacuse maybe they have a job or a life. And doing the monk epic is way too much of a time sink for what you get. Raster- can take up to 3 days to spawn??? Come on. Please. They only time i would have time to camp him would be on the every other weekend I had off from my job, and that only comes twice a month, so i usually like to do more with my time than sit at a camp in Everquest. And not only that, but you need to get together a raid force, or at least a group to do some parts, and not everyone has alot of friends that are that willing to help them in their epic quests, or are the leader or an officer in a 1-man worship me cult guild. So don't call people lazy bums beacuse they don't have their epics yet, when YOU are acutally the lazy bum, beacuse you do nothing with your life but sit on your *** all day and play EQ.

No one is going to be using them for their crappy stats. First epic or these gloves. The important part is:

heh epic for monks are a waste of time, unless u are twinking an alt with them. by the time u are sufficient level to get epic as a normal person, no uber friends/guild help you should be able to farm at least 6 times the cost of these gloves. epics, besides for shaman,ranger, are just a status symbol and an xtra title.

Well if you consider 12 more strength, 3 more dex, 5 more stamina, 7 more magic save, 4 more cold save, 4 more poison save, 10 more disease save and 50 more hp a waste then I guess so. As for me, Sounds like a pretty darn good upgrade to me.

Just got these last nite; how do i make them work? how do i set up a macro key for them? tcould use some help please

Go under options, keyboard, and set one of your slots to tie into your movement key. example: slot 10= same as your forward key. Then click and hold on these things until you get a slot icon. Put it in the slot you tied into your movement key
phooey balooey, haste what do i do. bard and chanter normal haste dont stack. worn stacks with bard and chanter normal haste. tribute is bard normal haste. this item is bard normal haste. bard overhaste stacks with all other haste, but is either 5 or 10% more depending on which overhaste. if you have a chanter or shammy with more than 41% haste buffed on you, then you dont get this haste effect. Is nice if you dont have a haste buff already. you might get another buff of haste but only the highest one will be in effect.

These do stack with Chanter and bard hastes. They also stack with eyepatch of Plunder..which does not stack with chanter haste unless its from the epic.
Oh, one more thing. Solo'ing as a 55 monk I am maxed at the 85% mark with these, eyepatch of plunder and Seahorse belt (34% haste).
How do I know it all stacks up..grouped with a chanter whom hasted me. I can now solo without using mend where before I was unable to. DPS is nice.

Just because the icon for the haste is there doesn't mean it's helping any. Still, it can be used as a fake for moving HoV/Conv/Temp or whatever deeper into your buff window.

these drop i believe off the named bee mob in west wing in bot,on veeshan i bought these for 25k i have been working my epic but trying to get anyone down to chardock to camp the pipe is almost impossible,so for a monk who's 65 and not epiced,these rock im walking around with 71 haste and i macroed these to my left turn so i dont have to click

IMO anyone who would waste their time and money on these instead of just getting their epic is crazy. The monk epic is so simple, it just takes time. Save your pp and go sit through the camps to get your epic. I know it takes forever (I camped raster for 72 straight hours, got him, at 40% life he despawned and the server went down without any warning. Then I camped again for 37 hours and finally got him..lol), but it is worth it. The stats on this item just plain suck compared to the CF. Just my 2cp.

On the other hand, why BOTHER getting your epic? Why bother camping for 72 hours and spending weeks assembling all the components of the epic quest? If I can just put down 25k and buy these, and they have the same effect and approximately the same stats, why spend all that time on epic? 25k is nothing. I can farm that in a couple hours.
+1 ac, +12 str, +3 dex, +5 sta, +10 agi, +50hp, +10fr, +10dr, +4cr, +4pr, and +7mr is a VERY significant difference in stats. I will take the epic mixed with the psuedo epic (Whistling Fists) and their extreme stats any day. They are both easily questable (I did the Whistling Fists almost exclusively solo) and had a lot of fun doing them.

i know you have to be 55 in order to make the ornate armor, but lets say you want to sacrafice yourself back to 52 cause ya like kicking naggy and vox's ***** Can you still use the effects on the gaunts?

I'm guessing the answer is no. For the simple reason that if you are sacrificed below 55, when you loot your corpse you will not be able to equip these. By wtf would you wanna sacrifice a monk lol at least choose a pally or something ha ha...but if you can equip it, the lvl to click is 50...so might be that death loophole

I play a 63 monk, among other toons, and on those occasions that i'd like to use my fists and not my 2hander (which with aa's is better dps than dual wielding imo), i just do this:
make a hotkey to my glove slot. right click epic to get haste and attk buff, then left click it to put it on cursor, so i get epichasted-barefists, so i lose my epic stats, big deal, i get 15/20 hasted without blowing 35k on another pair of gloves. the hp don't make that big a deal most of time cause i rarely tank anything but bluebies that can't land a hit on me anyways.

1. Sony increased the drop rates on all ornate patterns and molds with the latest patch (today being 7/22/03).
2. This glove pattern is easily obtainable for around 10k on Ayonae Ro (probably similar on other servers).
3. These gloves are awesome. Save yourself HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of camping and questing for your epic ***for casual gamers like myself, who only play a monk as an alt***. I only wish I could buy the semi-equivalent of the epic for each of my other characters for 10kish. F00k.
4. You don't have to use bare fists for the haste on these to work, but Celestial Tranquility does indeed make your fists a 9dmg/16dly ratio, which is damned decent unless you're already 65 (in which case you likely have your epic anyhow). Ergo you can still use whatever other items you like as weapons, they will just be hasted an extra 40% on top of whatever worn haste you have (i.e. Spiked Seahorse Belt or CoF etc.) giving you upwards of 70-80% haste with only your self buffs!! That's great!

song haste and buff haste do not stack together haste wise. you can have both up for benefits of each aside from the haste, but faster haste of the two will win out
There are at least 2 bard songs that will stack with casted haste and even stack above haste cap.

Without knowing the name of the songs I know this is correct because I was with a bard playing one of the two songs..I noticed a big differance in the dps. One looks like crossed swords.

I've done up to the robe that has no song on it and now I'm stuck on the pipes. If I was actually gonna play him I'd just friggn level and upgrade his weapons and buy this thing. The epic is not worth doing unless you have a lot of bored friends and now that droga is upgraded you probably have to fight your way in and deal with adds on that part of the epic. Anyways, epic is for people who can, ornate is for people looking to level and not waste time going through the epic.

You all are forgetting the level and flag requirements needed to do the quest for item. You have to be flagged for either HoH or BoT (3rd tier plane) and be at least level 55 before the quest giver will give you the quest items needed to make the glove (monk emblem).
Its odd IMHO because most monks that i know of, usually have the epic by the time they reach the 3rd tier planes. I cannot picture them bagging their epic for a glove with much inferior stats. Even if you get 15/20 naked hands with this glove, most monks (at that level/planar flagging) I know of weild weapons that have superior ratio and stats than 15/20.
Its not an "epic bagger" item BUT I guess monks that have no tolerance for camping (for the epic) might have some use for this item.

the only requirement to get the emblem is that you are lvl 55 and have 500pp. the emblem guy is found in PoTran. The droppable pattern and other componants are available in the bazaar.

this is a hand slot item not weapon. it is a clickable effect same as the epic. best way to use is to make a hot button and tie it to your kick or something like that with about same refresh. that way you autoclick about when you need it.

To activate the effect all you have to do is right click.
lol yes at 65 your fists are 15/20 if you not wearing epic but who cares by the time you can get this pattern you not going to be useing bare fist or bare epic nad the 1 etra dmg is not worth the stat loss if you do the entwood mace waining light katar combo let alone things like fist of nature from PoG15/18 +stas almost anything from ssra VT or ST monks dmg comes from speed as well they hit faster then alot of others becuase of the effect on these and epic stacks with item haste so id go so far as taking a 12/18wepon and a waining light than use bare fists anyday... and before you call me dumb look at sig i do play a monk and know more bout playing one then the non monks that post

ANYone who plays a monk KNOWS it is all about HP, there is no monk in the world who is going to trade his epic with its 15 ac 20 str 15sta and 100 hp for this, EVER. Anyone who can actually obtain this will either a) be epic or b) spend the 100k or so that the patterns sell for on a weapon he can equip and keep his epic equipped. If you were not pulling, you might want to wear these. Waning light Katar and Entwood mace are not as good as your 15/20 fists, but are almost as good. If you don't really need the extra HP, Im sure your raid/group would not mind the extra Dmg.
Might be used by monks wanting to get the improved fist ratio at level 65(epic = 9/16, barehand at 60 = 15/20). Although if you can get the pattern with your guild, chances are you have access to 16/20 or 16/21 weapons anyway. Note however, that patterns are not no drop, so a casual gamer without access to those high end luclin weapons could buy a pattern in the bazaar and, at level 65, use bare fists.

I may have missed it - but what is the actual name of the pattern I should have my guild look for dropping? I am assuming it is a LEATHER ORNATE GAUNTLET PATTERN. Am I correct? I need this information before I ask people to keep their eyes open for one.

The shammy version is called ornate chain mold...and it goes for 80K-100K.

I have noticed that many items in PoP meet or beat the epic items. I do think they try and make it about as hard to get though....
Still, epics were formed way back when, if I need my epic I go get it, once, if I dont get my epic I cannot have similar items that fit my level??

Why would any monk in a guild that can get these gaunts trade down for the epic they ought to have? These are for, what? People too lazy to get their epic? Seems like a waste to me...

Am I wrong that the epic is a clicky effect, not triggered? In which case you can put in those high end weapons (since we're talking lvl 65) and still use the clicky haste, as well as get the much better stats on the epic. These are definitely not as good as epic, but they fit the level needed to get them. Think it's quite appropriate for where they are. Other than for roleplaying I don't think many 65 monks will want the 15/20 bare fists over a 15/20 weapon that has nice stats and a proc. I can talk too, didn't use any weapons until lvl 52, and was surprised how much a couple weapons cut down my downtime (once I raised 1HB from 0 to 240) when soloing.
Anyways, these are replacing epic, just an option for those that got frustrated with Raster.
*edit* yah, used the wrong word... was thinking randomly triggered. Anywho, my point was still the same, could use epic with better stats, and weapons with same or better ratios than 15/20 and stats...
