As I was getting drops in the zone and looking them up I can across this earring listing and my first thought was "so?" Is this all I'm supposed to make with my blood metal and war wraith blood?
If you look closer it has a nice tribute of 20K and that seems worth it to me.
The Blood metal is very common and the wraith blood seems a little less so. The rare item is the highly polished gems, you should have plenty of the other drops by the time you get a gem. I'd guess an hour or two of killing will get a gem to drop.
These are not lore so you can make several if you have the parts.
Skills Required:
Research
-- 308 trivial, final combine (need to research or buy distilled mana too)
Smithing
-- 135 trivial, enchanted bloodmetal (or buy from players)
-- If you're smithing it, you need researcher for Distilled mana
To make
Enchanters/Shamans need to create and mem the spell: Imbue War. (once, so they have the spell)
In A Planar Jewelers kit (PoK) combine: (no fail)
-- raw diamond (drop)
-- war wraith blood (drop)
-- spell: imbue diamond (buy)
Now make: Orange Diamond of war (no fail)
Cast your Imbue War spell, and have on you:
--- Raw Diamond (drop)
--- War Wraith Blood (drop)
Enchant a bar of bloodmetal (not a spell, but rather smithing, triv 135)
In a Tanaan Forge (PoK) combine
--- brick of bloodmetal (drop)
--- vial of distilled mana (craft)
Now in your planar jewelers jewelry kit again, combine (triv 308)
Reinforced Jeweler's kit will not work !!
--- Enchanted bar of bloodmetal (craft)
--- Orange Diamond of war (craft)
--- Highly polished gem (drop)

For those of you who have ever taken a break from EQ for an extended period of time, hopefully you won't flame me for asking this question. When did the trivial level for combines surpass 250? Whats the "grandmaster" level considered now? Thanks in advance for your help, as I still have an enchanter who was capped at 250 in JC and would appreciate any help in maxing him out again, as it looks as if the cap was raised. Any guides to improving jewelcraft on the new system would be much appreciated.

With Omens you now have the ability to train in each skill for mastery. Up to 3 AA points on each. While this does not increase the cap, having it raised for a particular skill to the limit, reduces the failure rate to 50% on the combine.
Level requirement for this skill is 59. It is a passive skill.
But as mentioned in the previous post, the cap has not been changed.
Note: It is also now available through AA to raise each of the skills to 250.

The highest level you can attain in Jewelcraft is still 250.
A 308 trival means that the item will never be a trvial combine.
Many armors have 335 blackmithing trivial. Basically what this does is make sure thatthe most skilled crafters still fail more than they succeed.

In a pit group killing mobs from the pit and mobs from the tunnels they drop about 1 per hour...around the entrance they drop about 1 per 2 hours. It really depends how fast your killing though.

These can be rare, some days I can kill 200 mobs and not see one.. last night was what I call a drop night. Eight dropped for me.. My record before was seven. If ya get one.. kill all the diaku and wraiths ya can .. if your lucky ..it will be a "Drop night".

Ok I see that the drops for these are from hard zones and from tough mobs but I see between 10-15 for sale at a time.

I have gotten 1 HPG to drop, in about 9 AA pts. Sitting in the Ent to the NW hallway, pulling Diaku.

In the bazaar on Torvonnilous. There were about 9 for sale, each was 19k. I was able to get one for 17k, and i'm thinking I could have gotten one cheaper had I been more patient.

would probably be safer just buying it in baz, fail rate on these seems to be 1 out of 2 - to - 1 out of 3 if im lucky. oh with 250 skill and trophy too.

The War wraith blood, and the bricks of bloodmetal required are a faily common drop in the Plane ot Tactics.
The Highly polished gem that is also required is exceptionally rare. We had 3 drop in a nights raiding. I succesfully made 3 earrings for the guild with them.
While the gem dropped off Ogres in the passages for the 3 we got, I hear it can drop off any of the zone mobs. Though having xp'd in the Pit there for several hours, I've never seen one drop.
Good luck killing Magnetic Behmoth in Plane of Innovation to get your flag to hunt in Tactics / Drunder fortress of Zek :)
I think the rarity of the gems, the difficulty of the zone and the awsome stats compared to rare drop earrings such as ther lizard bone accurately reflect the high prices you will see in the bazaar, IF you see them for sale.

Highly polished gems are pretty rare. I have only seen them drop off Diaku's (ogres). I solo/duo in the pit, and have never seen it drop from pit mobs.
Bloodmetal is a semi-common drop from the kobold types in the pit.
Blood is semi-common off the War Wraiths. They are more commonly dropped from the Battle Wraiths though.

how can you say they are exceptionally rare when ya got 3 of them in one session? SCHW are concidered common, you can be there for days without seeing them though. Rare means one drops like once a week or something
They are also dropping for more "drop" mobs in one sitting than you will ever kill SCHW mobs for that one session. The only bearing on time something has for it's rarity is relative. 3 in one session is decently rare for something like that on raid.
ive seen this in the bazaar for 80K 
..but i think ill do like what i did with my rings of gallantry . go and farm the items myself..now just to win the rolls that is the hard part

What are the stats degraded to when a lvl 50 wears this?
I'm looking for an upgrade to my cougar claw earings, and the earing of solstice is so expensive to get, but I have a grandmaster jeweler friend who could make it.
Is it easy to get the spell that's required?

Um /blink I didn't notice that. Neither is Valorium Ring of Gallantry (although I only wear one, got me a Ring of Flowing Slime for other hand), I imagine a lot of the high end PoP player crafted items won't be lore.
