I think these are actually okay guants. A full suit is made to buff All stats, not just one. One cleric with lotsa mana, but no ac/ saves ...one dead cleric. Especially later when mobs hit hard enough that ac (even for a cleric) or saves does matter. And I might be mistaken, but don't dex and int affect fizzles? correct me if I am wrong please 8)
Dex doesn't help build channelling skill it affects the success rate of it. Some of the planar armor seems to outfit the different pieces with dex, sta, and agi while still keeping a good main stat but these really are stupid. A cleric piece with int is just like a cleric piece without int, it affects you in no way unless you're a ********* and have outfitted yourself so that you have more int than wis in which case int would take over as your mana pool stat...
Neither int nor dex effects fizzles, the only thing that effects fizzles is your skill in that magik class. Dex helps build your channeling skill, while int, if higher than wis (which shouldn't be the case for a cleric) effects how fast your skills raise. Frankly, while ac is good, you can easily get good ac gaunts that also give decent wis and/or mana by the time you can get to Hate.
If you are high enough to do a Plane raid then just go to Kael and get Thunder Etched Gaunts. Stats are MUCH better, 8 more AC and a wis bonus plus other stats. The wis bonus isn't much, 2 I believe, but it is better than nothing. Thunder Etched are also tradeable. I got my on my first Kael raid at level 42.
So, unless you are going for the look don't bother to go out of your way to get these.
I have seen these drop often, infact last night 2 rotted as all clerics on raid had them. I have a set and only bring them out when I try and look uber even though I have newbie stuff.
Look another piece of armor with intel bonus! And dex too! Wow going to go out get me these and the bracers and start whacking mobs with my Dark Ember for that 14 point proc since I will almost never hit anything at this level. My my. Veriant is trying to convince me that clerics mana is int based I do believe.
