With this trivial to make pole you get the highest possible fishing skill you can get.
Dont even need special bait since skill increase doesnt stack - game uses whichever is highest.

is there anything that summons fishing poles? I thought this would, but it doesn't appear to do so.

Ya, the item Fisherman's Companion summons Brell's Fishin' Pole. Has a +3 Fishing Skill on it. The Pole also summons Ale.

They can break, but they break a LOT less often than normal poles (I go through about 10 times as many normal poles as I do collapsibles).
Another nasty little rumor about these things. How often they break has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the type of pole you're using. Likely you're breaking less of these because your skill is now higher (higher fishing skill will lower your chances of breaking a pole somewhat). But two different people with equal fishing skill will break the pole just as often with this as with a standard storebought pole, Brell's fishing pole, or even a blessed fishing rod (if you were foolish enough to actually FISH with that!).
The only, I repeat ONLY, advantage these have over run-of-the-mill storebought fishing poles is that they add a 5% skill mod to fishing. They are not break-proof; they are not even break-resistant.

Troodon, another advantage is they fit in small bags like a wristpouch. I have also made these and Gnomish Fireworks. Tinkering isn't just for Gnomes anymore...

its true u don't need to be a gnome to tinker...but u can't up the skill. shamans can use axes, i used one on RZ.....but a shaman can't get better at 1HS ei...its useless. anyone can stick them in the box and combine but only gnomes can raise the skill in it, thats y not all races can put skills into it at ur guild.
This item is a level 50 trivial item made with tinkering, recipe is 3 metal rods and 1 gnomish bolts. Here is the great part about it, anyone can make it, only gnomes can gain skill in tinkering but I had about 3/2 success/failure rate as a Wood Elf Druid with 0 in the skill. You don't need to be a gnome to tinker, you can put the stuff in the box and click combine with any race, and since this is low trivial it's easily makable.

Can these poles break?
Sigh, yeah, broke mine last night.. but it took me from skill level 20 to 136. Guess I will buy another one. :P
Actually, I like the fact that I can get food whereever there is water and can sell the fish for extra plats.

There is a vendor in Shadowhaven that sells tinkering supplies.. this lil gnomie sells it for about 6pp with 122 charisma

Cool, thanks for the info...btw since I'm not a gnome...anyone selling on Tallon Zek should look for me! (Damn I need more time in a day...then maybe I can concentrate on a lil farming for the fly supplies too)
