I picked this crown up early in my career. As a human I immediately noticed that it gave all sorts of enchanced vision bonuses. Now as a 60 wiz I have buffed myself up with all my vision spells and STILL the crown gives me better vision than all those spells...at least as far as I could tell...

Cast identify on this a number of times but no extra properties showed other than what is shown above....

Anyway...just a quick lunch post to let you know that there is more to this crown than listed on the stats.

Graphic?

Just curious, does the crown have a graphic? I would hope so, it IS a crown!

Myself 55 Rng...52 Ench,53Cler,55Dru,56mag, and 52 warr went after the froggy king. I had read that the room will not aggro on you if you're level 56.....tell that to the mag who popped in the room to try to single pull the frogs around the King and the whole darn room emptied on us in the hall to the king room. Boom Mag down...and thanks to our druid with finger on the trigger who succored us outta there before we all got wiped.

2nd time around it was a different story. Cleared all the mobs in the prep room and put the Chanty Cleric and Druid up on the walkway, While Mag/Pet and War waited below, I eased into the frog room and aggroed the King and 2 others on either side of him and pulled them back to the prep room....where we promptly removed a lovely crown from his Froginess...thru a body cavity that clearly wasn't designed to have a crown removed from.

Once we got the room broke, we set up shop and further applied the spanking to said king!

If you camp the King...just be careful not to aggro the whole room in the hallway because our chanter couldn't get a AE Mezz off with all the jostling going on. Take 'em outside to prep room and lay down the spankage there.

BTW we will be camping him for the 3rd night in a row tonight to apply the +20 Resists to the last 2 in our group who havent gotten one yet.

In EQ1, a good rule to follow is 'everything aggros'. This rule will save you a ton of time and xp loss if you follow it religiously.

FR/CR
# Nov 09 2001 at 10:10 PM Rating: Decent
In response to the guy that says MR is more important on high lvl dragon type raids..no..you're wrong, in most cases. In ToV, both in West wing and East wing (Halls of Testing) the big wurms use 2 nukes: a 300pt+ fire nuke for the red ones, and a 300pt+ ice based nuke for the white ones. Both of these nukes are AoE. Now tell me how MR will help your cleric here. He's gonna get fried to a crisp before he can do crap, this 20/20 fr/cr helm is an incredible piece of resist gear. Must have for a ToV raider, especially for rooms where there are no corners to hide behind.
The only use for MR is on named dragons who use Dragon Fear. In that case, pack your tranix crown. For most people, you wont be facing mobs like this, as they live in NToV, where only a select few can go..unless you play on a really uber server or have a good guild. Just my 2cp

During the GM Events, on Solusek Ro I was given this item by the GM. Not sure why, i didn't ask for it. But imagine my pleasure when i found out it averaged for about 2k. Not bad for being in the right place at the right time.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 19 2001 at 5:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I recently purchased this in EC at orc 2 from a lvl 10 warrior... I guess he didn't know what he had because he sold it to me fer 50pp.. I told him to consult his guild first but he said he was sure.....

Tranix>froggy
# Aug 08 2001 at 3:26 PM Rating: Default
Ok for the price yes this is one of the best raiding helms in the game but personally CR and FR are never a real problem to get and they dont make THAT much difference on a properly set up dragon raid. IMHO a tranix crown is MUCH better because it gives 20 MR thats the most important thing cause lets face it all the FR/CR in the world isnt going to help you if naggy/vox lays in that AOE fear and your entire raid is running the other way so when you go into a raid try to have 100+ mr BEFORE you worry about FR/CR the buffs will take care of the rest =)
RE: Tranix>froggy
# Aug 05 2002 at 1:09 AM Rating: Decent
Lets think about this, warrior, they get 1 MR every time they lvl, at lvl 50 that is about....ahhh i dont wanna hurt my head thinking of numbers above 10....pretty high anyways, now, MR equip isn't that hard to obtain, get a few pieces, your above 150 and good for naggy, but what kind of dragon is naggy? Thats right! Fire...he may nail ya with the aoe fear, but really his fear isn't hard to resist with some average warrior MR, that aoe fire nuke can definatly do some damage to ya, especially if your a troll like me and start out with a whopping 5svfire. So this crown isn't bad really for a raid if your the main tank, I would wear it with my very un-shibby fire resistance.
RE: Tranix>froggy
# Nov 28 2001 at 8:42 PM Rating: Decent
Im sorry to say tranix but if your going up against a dragon you need to worry about have more than 100 in mr fr cr . You need to be aiming for 200 +
RE: Tranix>froggy
# Nov 21 2001 at 1:21 AM Rating: Default
I agree. Get mr up first, then fr and or cr. But dont go light on the fr/cr equip... you will need them both (mr and cr/fr).

On a human and barbarian, this crown looks like blonde hair (like many of the velious head pieces). If your monk is an iksar, then I'm pretty sure its invisible, but I would not wager money on it.

Aye, no graphic on this item. Very popular Monk head piece - standard upgrade to exe hood, and pretty much standard monk head piece till you can get Tranix Crown or Circlet of Vallon/Tallon.

whats better for a monk
# May 05 2001 at 4:30 AM Rating: Default
I just went through hell to get one of these and it seems to not be better than a Executioners Hood. I do less damage and it seems like i get hit for more damage since i made the swich...
RE: whats better for a monk
# Jul 11 2001 at 7:29 PM Rating: Default
Froggy crown destroys exe hood.
This is an amazing raid level item. The resists on it are fantastic. Anyone who is doing alot of raiding should almost mandatorily have one of these. 20 FR and 20 CR is uber. especially when you getting nuked for 800dd.

It's in your head, this is far superior to Exec Hood. 4 str only slightly modifies your atk rating, not enough to make a significant differance. Dex does next to nothing, in all honesty. Does less if you aren't training weapon skills or have a proc'ing weapon. Some people have run tests (can't really vouche for their testing methods, but from personal experience, it seems close enough) with dex of 100ish and then gain another 100+ dex, sometimes maxing at 255. With that kinda dex boost you'd think you would proc a weapon like crazy, they generally report only a 4-5% boost in proc percentage. And that's a HUGE gain in dex, which I've experienced. Hasted, with 255 dex while in werewolf, I barely proc'd more than normal. With dex around 100, sometimes I'd proc 6-7 times in a battle, and 255 certainly doesn't assure that either. Both are pretty rare, regardless of dex.

Ack, kinda long winded, but forget the exec hood, love the huge AC and resist bonus from the Froggy Crown, friend. =)

this item is also a lightsource like a greater lightstone when worn.
and you can't see it (no model, just like cloth) very nice if you don't want to wear ugly helmets

The correct spelling for this item is Froglok, not Froglock. Just thought you'd like to know...

This item is super when you have to fight casters of any kind. Although I do wish it had some svmagic resistance, it is still perfect for any class to wear. I would not dream of fighting a dragon or a high lvl caster without one. Although I rarely duel, I am told that in a caster's duel it makes a huge difference if used properly. They often sell for 1kpp so for the price they are one of the best items that you can get to wear.

im a 52 mage and been on alot of dragon raids i keep a eye out for resist items just to keep for raids. for vox raids my cr base is 122 for naggy my fr is 107 and if i did see crown for sell i would snag it up a extra 15 resist would be nice i have a elemental binder and has 5cr/fr.

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 04 2001 at 3:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what level is your char? Do you ever duel? Have you ever even been on a dragon raid or fought a high level caster? This item isn't really that good, in fact, most people wear it becuase it looks neat. The stats aren't that good. For casters, a runed cowl is easier to camp and much better. Tanks can camp the executioner's hood. Both are much lower and easier to get, and better items! Runed Cowl goes for more than 5k, not sure of the hood. This is not "one of the best items that you can get to wear". If you are high enough to get on a dragon raid, you should be able to get much better
RE: Awesome
# Mar 11 2001 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
12AC, +40 points of elemental resists, and low weight. This is absoultely one of the best headpieces for a caster who has maxed out the primary stat.

Ummm, Have you ever done a dragon raid? This has +20 to cold AND fire so it's good for both naggy and vox. What can you get that's better? Most of the other items are only +10 and it's for fire or cold not both. To my knowledge there isn't a better head item for dragon raids out there.
RE: Awesome
# Mar 08 2001 at 4:59 PM Rating: Good
I agree wholeheartedly. At 40, my monk tried to buy one of these forever and no one would sell him one. Why? Because everyone wanted to keep theirs for the dragon raids. If a 50+ is unwilling to part with an item for the resists, then you know there isn't much better.
RE: Awesome
# Apr 27 2001 at 10:14 AM Rating: Default
/sigh

Resists are what make the difference in this item. Try taking down a dragon with your base only on all your resists. I don't care how high your stats are, YOU WILL DIE.

Atleast some people have an idea around here on what it takes to kill a dragon and aren't talking out the wrong end......
RE: Awesome
# May 07 2001 at 12:30 PM Rating: Decent
Tell me about it, I went in to do Vox at 52 with 35 CR (before buffs) and was creamed from AE. I'm now working on my resists very hard (fire/cold still only at 58 unbuffed).
