I really enjoyed doing the newbie quests, especially since I just recently lost all my gear due to a bug in Jaggedpine (which was conveniently fixed AFTER my corpse rotted :( heh) Anyways, so I now have a full set of this Bard Armor on my alt, and have some on my warr and my main, Regardless of your class, if you're a woodelf or half-elf, do these quests cause you never know when you might lose your gear =p
The hardest things to find for the Tranquilsong armor are things needed for the breastplate: a pristine forest drakeling scale, and there's been several people looking for one everytime I've been in Gfay lately, and an orc fibula. After two days I found these drop off the orc slavers inside CB. The rest of the compenents needed are pretty easy except maybe the faery wing, that can be tough at lower levels. You can usually find faery wings at a merchant if you look around.
I'm glad to see Verant finally give the wood and high elves some decent newbie armor quests. When I started my halfling rogue, they had the Slickfinger armor quests. That stuff held me over pretty well into my high 20s and low 30s. Unfortunately this new armor was made after a week when I started a wood elf bard. Since I saw only patchwork armor quests available at the time, I decided to throw on some leftover armor and weapons I had in the bank on my rogue, so the equipment my wood elf bard is wearing is better than this stuff... but it's still nice armor for those who are new and can't twink.
I think the new quests in Greater Faydark are a good thing, for a minute I thought there was a GM Event going on with the new mobs being chased all over the zone!
Ditto. After taking a little 'break' from EQ for about half a year I came back on and was shocked to see treemen running around and BB basilisks... After asking some newbie-like questions, I found that Verant made some cool changes to the game. No more 'hell level' at lvls 4-5 because nothing gives good exp there anymore =)
