I just got one of these earrings tonight. It dropped off of Va Xi Aten Ha Ra. This is a fantastic item for a mele class for all of the reasons listed below. (Any monk that has weight issues going into Vex Thal is simply not concerned with weight.)
The effect on this item is definately self only. Personally, I have no problem with that fact. I see no reason why I, as a Monk, would need to buff others with IU. Most high level players already carry potions or gear to shrink, cast normal invisibility and enduring breath. This item falls squarely in the same category with the additional benefit of freeing an inventory slot.
Thanks to Locoman and Awakened guild of Tarew Marr for the earring!
Ok look. Even if this thing weighed 25.0 stones, all tanks would kill for this. Monks wouldn't maybe want to WEAR it then, but keep it in a tink bag for the effect? You bet!
WTF are you talking about? How in the world does this suck Slawslayer?! Oh wait I get it you are a Cleric or a Chanter with the spell ITU already and have no use for it.
As a warrior I wouold find this earring HUGLY useful. Its got eh 3 thigs I really look for Ac, Str, and a resist (More are better but +25 to SvM ROCKS!) The effect is just a bonus IMO.
There are quite a few earrings and rings weighing 1.0 in this world (coldain ring anyone?) and it has always made me mad. Even cougar claw earring weighs 0.5 which i find heavy for a tooth.
I think we should get a damage bonus when we are using Hand to Hand while wearing stuff like this, come on, it must hurt.
But yes the effect on this one is neat, and i suppose the monks killing in VT don't have their banker yelling at them when they buy their 8th tink bag to carry all the stuff like this.
If i remember correctly though AL was one of the first guild (at least one of the famous one) to use a DKP system, and i don't think their monk would use their even one of their precious points on this. We don't even have parry, and 15 sec is a bit long for a casting time.
???? Dont' even have Parry.... Are you implying trying to cast this while getting hit? In case you don't understand invis, it has no effect on a mob already aggro'd on you. They'll just hit you and break the invis, big deal.
15 seconds to cast is no problem when you are getting ready to walk through an undead zone. Now, if Invis starts to fall, THEN you have problems. But you would never have to finish casting this while getting hit. Trust me
