tried to use on a set of Lcea Katta cloth. Used correct number and type of items and would not combine. Is it me or a bug?

I seem to have the same issue. When I hit combine it says "You cannot combine these items in this container type!"

I have the following ornaments in the container
1 - Helm
1 - Chest
1 - Arms
1 - Wrist
1 - Hands
1 - Legs
1 - Feet

Chest item cannot be a robe.

And you have to have attuned it to your character first. Unattuned cannot go in the container because it will unattune them when you take them back out.

Which set would not combine for you? What were the pieces called?

7 Pieces....

But it takes 8 pieces for a full set (2 wrists)

Only one wrist is needed to complete a set, so 7 pieces works OK for the combine.

In general for Hero's Forge (not only for this armor crate) you only need one wrist ornament, equipped in the right Wrist slot. More details about the way the wrist slot works for Hero's Forge are listed in the in-game item description for any Hero's Forge wrist ornament. For example see the item information section at Hero's Forge Chain Wrist Ornament .

What's it for?

Well I broke down and bought one, combined a full set of Auburn Hero's forge chain (all 7 pieces), it then combined into:

Suit of Auburn Hero's forge chain.
Effect: Unpack suit of Auburn Hero's forge Chain
Casting time: 3.0
EXPENDABLE Charges: 1

Sure this saves inventory but I will not buy another due to the fact if I want to pack it up again I have to spend more station cash. If they removed the expandable charges I would buy more, but for a single use of saving 6 inventory spaces.... I will pass and just keep my armor in my house.

Make it so it summons a lore, no trade version of all 7 pieces with unlimited charges and I would be getting more of these crates.. just my 2cp

It's for "donut touch," which is like the Midas touch, but different.

This item appeared for sale in the Marketplace the midnight before a patch which was to introduce it. When I purchased it from /market, the item that was dropped into my inventory was called "JCaraker Reserved Quest Item" with item lore "Donut touch", and not a container or anything.

Then after the patch that happened a few hours later which was actually meant to introduce the item, this item in my inventory turned into the correctly-named and typed item "Hero's Forge Armor Crate".

Price in /market is 250 SC.

Heh. Nice.

"Donut Touch" may be my favorite lore entry ever, though.
