My point is there's a certain amount of luck involved too, not just skill. I know it's a lot of money to gamble on chance, even a three out of 4 one... but consider this: the reason why the brewing trophy costs more to attempt than the others is because brewing is by far the cheapest skill to get to 250! Jewelcrafters spent a lot more to get to this level of skill, thus have a cheaper trophy to make.
(end quote)

Who cares if jewelcrafters spent more to raise their skill to 250? ***MOST*** jewelcrafters are enchanters who sit in the nexus or the bazaar making 10k a night casting KEI. On TM, we had a chanter who sat in the nexus casting kei for donations, who would put in his /shout that he needed money for the grand master trophy. Once he made his trophy, hardly anyone sees him.

While I concede that non-enchanter, master jewelers have my respect for plying their trade....I don't want to hear any horse manure about the chanter grandmasters in anything. They are the most catered-to, handed-stuff-to-on-a-silver-platter, sucked-up-to-by-verant, class in the game.
Brewing trophy.... success rate ...SUCK!!!

I have tried to combine 5 times and ALL FAILED with brweing lvl 250, INT 267 , Enc(C5) & Shm (Str, Sta, Dex, Agi, Cha) fully buffed. I have carried the Geerlok Fermentation Device when I was going to combine too. Failed Failed Failed with no reason.

Who said "so what... smithing takes 10k+ to GM, brewing takes maybe 1k, 2k at the most. " ... So did you ever combine your GM items with 30k!!? BUT STILL FAIL!!? Each of our attemption already covered your normal skill lvl training costs =P ... PLUS each attemption you need to find a tinker with 180 skill lvl to combine a corking device for you. I CAN ONLY FIND 1 HIGH LVL TINKER IN TUNARE!! Who still said "So What"... train you AA up and come take a try to be GM brewing =P
/sigh

Dude, so what... smithing takes 10k+ to GM, brewing takes maybe 1k, 2k at the most. i know, ive brought brewing up to 245 for only about 1800.Blue Diamonds only cost around 400pp any more so making the corking device isnt all that expensive. So its not that big a deal. Get over it , make some Liquidised meat and earn enough cash to buy your stuff =P
Not easy
# Nov 09 2002 at 1:34 AM Rating: Decent
Its not easy to get your skill up to 250 takes a long time and is more or less one of the more trivial tradeskills, Brewing and Baking are about the lowest priority on VIs list of things to improve, i got to 250 in brewing failed once on my trolphy, made it the second time, i dont know if it was worth the 8k+ it took to make it but i have my pick and i hold it high in my secondary and say FEAR ME i am a duel wielding wizard! yea thats about all its worth and the bags, just dont leave any thing in them when you log, the non-no-rent one is nice but not worth the price its the pride of the skill and the bragging rights, brewing.... donno, but with the new AA points i can get another over 200 no big woop

Go turn one of your summoned nodrop norent bags int Jollum in the bazaar and see what happens. Have a free inven slot open.

My question is, can you stack the plus5% from this with a geerlock? This is range, geerlock in primary?
RE: Not easy

No
Verant unintentionally screwed brewers
# Oct 29 2002 at 7:47 AM Rating: Good
I made this item a few days after they came out and it didn't have the 5% added to skill or the summon bag thing. Now after verant realized that some people would only make one of these and like the upgraded lore version, the implimented a quest to allow for people to turn in a minor item and their trophy for the new lore version. While every other tradeskill has to hand in stuff like metal bits and glass shards or dairy spoons, Brewers need to hand in a corking device. Now all of you non brewers are saying, "so what". Well, A blue diamond is used in making a corking device, so brewers need to spend upwards of 2k when all other trades use less than 20pp total. The GMs will NOT help in any way because there is a quest to upgrade (albeit an extremely unfair one for brewers). AHHHHH, if only I waited 2 months to make this %^&%&^*% thing, I could have the better one. I hope someone sees this and sends it to the *%%^% development team, as this is very infuriating to brewers.

3k for the corking device
1.2k for BD
500 for diamond
250 for BS
250 for jacinth
125 per ruby (4)
250 per velium bar (8)
15 or so for the vial
500 fee to mount the gems
200 for the vial of mana
Total of 8.5k a shot

At 250 brewing and using a geerlok I have failed 4 times.

Very messed up. And yes if you did the math I blew about 32k trying. It bankrupted me. Verant and their random number generators...

Failed 3 friggin times on this w/ 250 skill in brewing and holding geerlock +5% to brewing. Wisdom was 220 w/ KEI. I give up!!! 10k worth of gems and velium bars down the drain. Put a serious dent in my bank roll w/ nothing to show for it. I hate Verant!

Wisdom (or intelligence) is irrelevant in caluclating chance of success... wis just increases your chance of raising skill, which at 250, you can't. With 250 brewing, and a geerlock, you have as high a chance as you'll ever have at suceeding at this (well, only way you have a better once is if you're a vah shir shaman and have the last cloak).

At the triv point of any given recipe, you have about a 75% percent chance of success. Now you'd have make several of these to get the 3 out of 4 statistic... still, you're rolling the dice each time you attempt. Mayve you'll succeed the first try, maybe the fourth.

Obviously it's not cost efficient to analyze this with the trophy (try with Kaladim's Constitutional, or Brut champagne)... but eventually you'll find you'll SUCCEED 3 times out of 4, not fail, right at the triv.

RE: $%#@!^*@&$
# Jul 01 2002 at 1:21 PM Rating: Good
You don't have to attempt to make the trophy, it's not like having a trivial above 250 means that as long as you have 250 skill + a whole damn 5% extra from a gearlock device you'll have 100% success in making this item.

If you don't wanna lose a crap load of money, don't take risks ;)

They have a point though, VI's random number generators suck. Plain and simple. When your a a grandmaster at what you do, you should fail VERY RARELY. Not 3 outta 4. That's just silly. Your a grandmaster at something... Fail 3 out of 4?

I got mine the first combine. Shrug... Random Number Generators.

Anyone know yet if it makes a difference if you use enchanted plat bars? Will it cause the combine to fail or will it change the stats?

hmm recommended lvl of 1, god i hope no one under lvl 1 tries to use this the loss on stats would be horrific, i cant imagine being lvl 0 or lvl -10 and this having stats of 2 str 10cha 2 wis/int
recommended lvl's r to keep people from twinking, recommended lvl of 1 on a no drop trade skill item is just retarted verant is either givin it to you from behind("serivicing the account"), or have their heads so far up their ***** that....., well just wait till planes of power come out, and theres a 10ac 5str/wis/int helm recommended lvl of 61
Hmmm.

Since these tradeskills things aren't weapons, can you equip an instrument with them as well? That would make a lot of bards happy I'm sure...including mine 8)
RE: Hmmm.
# May 18 2002 at 12:05 PM Rating: Excellent
You could equip this in the range slot and still equip an instrument, but you can't put this in the primary slot with an instrument in hand.

It is the instrument that determines whether you can hold something in your primary hand along with it, not the other item you're trying to equip.

There are very few instruments that allow you to equip something in the primary slot too (Denon's Horn of Dissonance is the only one that comes to mind and it takes a difficult PoA quest to get it.)
RE: Hmmm.
# May 20 2002 at 3:48 PM Rating: Default
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not a bard) but does not the lute of the howler allow an item to be equipped in the other slot as well?
#REDACTED, Posted: May 19 2002 at 5:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) and its not lore, man, that would be sick on a chanter in all 3 slots

Lore
# Jun 25 2002 at 6:28 PM Rating: Decent
These tradeskill trophies were recently upgraded (they used to simply have wis/str/int+10 cha+50). Now they have the same stats, have +5% to the tradeskill and can summon a 100% weight reduction bag. And important to note, they are now lore. So anyone making a tradeskill trophy today would get the "upgraded" lore one. They weren't retroactively upgraded though, so people that had them before the upgrade has a choice to upgrade their pre-nerf ones to the upgraded version. I just mention this since it is no longer possible to equip a chanter for instance, with one in their primary, secondary, and range slots.

I've heard there's one of these for each skillcraft....there called Tradeskill Trophies

there's one for jewelcraft so you can make it that way for your chanter...

I read the note left by Sadiki Senshiro and appreciate what he wrote. Note that this item is Ammo slot as well so you can have 4 instead of 3 :)
RE: Recipe Note correction
# May 17 2002 at 8:26 PM Rating: Decent
Only problem with 4, is that the stats will not work in the ammo slot.. So its not worth having one there for stats alone.. Sure, if you want to have 'bragging' rites, that works.
RE: Recipe Note correction
# May 17 2002 at 10:22 PM Rating: Default
Just a question:

If they dont work in the ammo slot then why is their bait and fishing lures that add a percentage to fishing skill? Now I dont know for sure but That would tell me that either the stats are added from that slot or then fishing is a waste of time. Either of which are complete possabilities.

Just my 2cp flame away thats all this sight is really used for anyway.

Povar
# May 17 2002 at 4:18 PM Rating: Default
Hello, I made this item on Povar.
The Freindly gnome who made me the corker ( name withheld ) said it was trivial at 180, hope that helps narrow down that part of it. Anyway, at skill 245 brewing this was not trivial to me. The Jewelcraft was at 185 and the Pottery was at 171. I am willing to make seals for anyone who didn't get their pottery up far enough, for a fee.
Should you need a Seal, check me out.
RE: Povar
# May 18 2002 at 8:21 AM Rating: Default
Was the gnome actually able to make you one, or is it no drop as the picture suggests?
RE: Povar
# May 18 2002 at 11:44 AM Rating: Default
The gnome made the corking device, not the actually product. The corking device goes into making the final product, which is, indeed, no drop.
RE: Povar
# May 19 2002 at 6:40 AM Rating: Default
The 2 reported trivials I've seen (Jewelcraft >250, Smithing >245) makes me think that the final combine is always 'trivial' at OVER 250 in the tradeskill you're making the trophy for...

So the final combine for THIS trophy needs to be done in a Brew Barrel, and won't be 'trivial' to a Brewing skill of 250.

Whatever the future "Advanced Tradeskills" turn out to be, I'd guess the 'real' trivial level would lie somewhere in THAT skill
RE: Povar
# May 20 2002 at 5:30 AM Rating: Decent
The trivials on the final trophies for each skill appear to be the same as for the new cultural armor, ie.- ~300.

This is only a rough guesstimate, based on success rates, but appears to be holding true for the GrandMasters that have made them.

corking device - cog, sprocket, gear, grease, branch of sylvan oak (foraged), blue diamond
trivial <=180

mounted gem - 2 bars of velium, gem (diamond, blue diamond, black sapphire, jacinth) in jeweler's kit
trivial <=176

artisan's seal - 1 Mounted Blue Diamond, 1 Mounted Diamond, 1 Mounted Black Sapphire, 1 Mounted Jacinth, 1 Purified Vial of Mana (4 rubies), 1 Small Block of Clay and 1 Water - combine in a pottery wheel, then fire with an HQ firing sheet in kiln
trivial <=136

Artisan's Seal + Corking Device = Grandmaster Brewers Corker
trivial at Grandmaster, maybe higher.

---------------------------------------------
Not that these aren't LORE... that means one could become a grandmaster in any tradeskill, make 3 of these, and get 30Str, 150Cha, 30Int, and 30Wis. ...Wow.
---------------------------------------------
Edit: Lowered a trivial level due to a helpful post. Also, wondering if the Mounted Gems are no-drop.

Yes you could get 3 of these, BUT you can only get one trade skill above 200, so it would be a lot of failures on the other two trohpys and i think its like 3k per attempt on these? So would cost a ton of money at 200 skill.

Well theoretically, since the "only one tradeskill above 200" rule does not apply to tinkering, you could get both tinkering and another tradeskill to 250, and have two trophies. A third one is not likely...

The trophies being lore does in fact only apply to one specific trophy, you could have say a grandmaster brewer's corker and a grandmaster tinkerer's span for example. Just not two corkers.

Would not waste the money even attempting one of these below a skill of 240. At 200? Forget it, you're just flushing money down the toilet! 3k per attempt isn't even half of what the cheapest of these costs per attempt... this corker costs aproximately 8k per attempt...

I am currently working on mine on the Povar server. The mounted gems are not no drop, and from everything I have read the artisens seals aren't no drop either. Only no drop portion is final item

hope this helps
