everytime i go to camp trainer i get a shield about the fifth kill of the trainer than i seel it come kill im 5 more times he always drops it around the 5th kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know about other servers but Bristlebane's Trainer usually drops it. Cuz i found one on a trainer corpse and killed the trainer that spawned and he had it. So fairly it is not very rare i would say un-common at the most.
I read on an earlier post that killing all the Centurions on the Hill before killing the Trainer will cause the Shield to drop. I had been camping for a very long time over many days before reading that post. First try at the new method produced an SBS. I killed all the Centurions in a counter-clockwise direction starting with the ones by the fire. It may have been luck of the draw but I now have what I came for...
Nope, I camped this hill for 5 hours gave up, then last night happend to be in the vicinity, went up the hill, woooah jumped by the trainer and 2 of his lackies, a couple of hidings and a little chase I had me a nice new shield :). So went and kicked the butt of the remaining Centurions just for fun :). 14th lvl Pal
It doesn't seem to help to clear the hill entirely. I couldn't seem to find one to purchase for my bard alternate, so I ran my druid up to toast the trainer a few times. After about two dozen kills, he still hasn't dropped it. I've been keeping some newbies buffed and sowed while waiting for it to respawn, so I have them keep the hillside clear. They get the belts, the exp, and I usually go in and clear the throne room for them. Often Emperor Crush will drop the chain shirt for them also.
The spawn is exactly 12 minutes, as someone else also posted. There seems to be no placeholder, and the trainer always seems to spawn. However, he hasn't dropped the shield so far.
I assume that it will be visible if he is carrying it, but I haven't seen it so far.
You don't have to kill anything else but the trainer. I have picked up a few of these for my new twinks by going in with my 30 cleric, and just nuking the trainer. I have gotten the shield in as few as 3 kills, and as many as 10, without killing anything else on the hill.
BTW, one 200hp wrath and the trainer is running away. A 40hp damage stun, and usually he's dead, or 1 more hit and he dies, so he always has over 200hp, and seems to max at about 250.
As far as the shield being rare, I'm doubtful. I looted 3 in less than 20 kills. Yes, I know they are lore, I transferred the first to an alt, and gave the second to a guild newbie. Plus the trainer is a very fast spawn. I would kill him, med up, go kill crush, and the warlord (or his ph), come back and he was up again. Note, I did this at odd hours, so as not to take the spawns from someone of appropriate level, and would give the camp up to anyone below lvl 20. Just seemed like the right thing to do.
i have a lvl 9 dwf war who was camping the trainer with a group the first time i even heard of the sbs. got it the first try. after that it dropped like every other spawn. i also camped the trainer recently with my 16 rngr. the 3rd spawn yeilded an sbs, and i help 3 other people get 1. 2hrs tops. it's not that rare. it could be different for each server tho, thats a thought
I got my shield today. I had to camp the orc trainer for a few hours. He spawns every 10-15 minutes, sometimes there comes a centurion as place holder I think.
You do not see the shield on him if he has it, so pray when you loot ;-)
I did not count, but I think I had to kill him around 15 times before he had it.

My guy is a warrior barb and my name is wildbones.
I got this when in group camping Trainer (got it second time we killed him). Lost it to the magic dice, but the winner just gave it to me. Not too rare if I got it after second kill (or maybe I was lucky).

Umm.. loose the caps first. YES. you should get this item if you can have an empty camp. This is an easy 10-ac and 10-svMAG. i don't even have one yet on my 10 Pally but i got one on my 5 bard (for free---> the guy liked my looks) and this shield is good to have if you are a human type race -> LIGHT SOURCE!!!!!!

Well, i've had my Shiny brass Shield since level 10 and now trying to upgrade my shield at level 15 (Cracked Darkwood Shield in Highhold Pass..)
When i got the shield it was late one night and i was thinking of buying it, after hearing that the trainer hardly ever drops the shield...
I met up with a High Elf cleric who was level 14, and instead of selling me one, he said he'd help get me one, for a small price of course.
We ran up to Trainer Hill, which was deserted, and imediately killed the trainer and the two orcs beside him. Well, we waited about 45 minutes for the shield to actually drop.... in which I had levelled up to 11 (DING!) I thanked the cerlic (i wouldve been sliced to threads by the 6 orcs there, and paid him 10pp, so he could buy some new spells.
Ive also helped group members get one, all i did was camp the place with my group (lvls 14/15) and waited. I got bored and pulled legos and emmissarys to the hill, just for some exercise. All you do is jump down into the moat, let loose some arrows/spells and run back to the hill, but make sure they never aggro on someone else.....
Good luck, great shield for non-twinked, low level ppl!
_The_ main reason to hunt in CB... Its relatively easy to get for low-levels, goo d item for your level. The hill is also an easy spot if you can kill off all the cents popping. Level on Trainer is explained above... The reason i consider it safe is that if you can handle the trainer, you'll have no surprises in form of trains. You have the trainer and the lower-level cents to deal with, period.

I was level 7 in CB and I was in a party that was camping the trainer. The first one we killed and that I ever killed gave me an Shiny Brass Shield. Of course I lost it when we rolled the infamous magic dice. I tried many times after that and never got one. I want one. (
um, i don't know why this is listed as "rare", but it's not at all rare, nor is it very hard to get on your own by killing the trainer, or just by buying it. it's not too expensive either...a nice piece of equipment if you're dueling a caster and need the extra magic resistance

Posted:Jan 10 2001 at 11:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) wtf is pending lore?
Pending Lore is how items were marked when Verant was starting to make Lore items. They had never existed in the game before and this was a warning for people to sell any extras or the would 'poof' when the item became Lore. The pic here was taken during that time frame. The current pic in EQ will show as Lore.
My Friend gave me one on a corpse run in the ice goblin cave in the tundra...(Very hard till lvl 15+) (I was lvl 9... then 8 :) well they don't tell you but the shield is a great light source to. and for a warrior with a weapon and a shield its the best way to go.
I camped the trainer on Erollsi Marr for 2 hours last night. We (myself and 1 other) killed him 10 times, for a spawn time of 10-12 minutes. The 10th one had the shield; he was /con yellow to a 12th Ranger (most were blue or white) and he was the only one that was armed (Rusty Scythe).
