There's a period of about 1 month per year in which Lower Guk mobs are advanced to seventies. This would make obtaining the Ink of the Dark difficult for a 50th level Enchanter who is just starting his epic.
Difficult, but not impossible, with a few high-powered friends, at least one of which can charm.
If your friends can clear the way and cause a Ghoul Scribe to pop, and there is a high level Enchanter, Bard or a Necromancer who can charm him for you, you can still give the charmed Ghoul the vial. Evidently, it doesn't matter who charms him. Just that he is charmed.
I did this just today and a Bard charmed him for me.

I am a lvl 60 enchanter and now the new revamped Lguk is not going to allow me to charm the Scribe at my level anyone know an alternate method of obtaining this item?
I've gone down to LGuk three times...the first time the "a ghoul scribe" was up, i charmed him with Boltran's, handed him the vial. he Frroooakkk!'d at me, and didn't give me anything back. I went to grab a new vial, and lo and behold, someone killed him.
I camped him for 5 hours, got him to pop again...used Allure this time, handed him the Empty Ink Vial, he froak'ed again, and didn't give me crap back again. This time I say "I'm going to get a new vial and try again, no one kill him please." and left another char parked there while i went...alas someone came and killed him, as i /shout, /ooc, /tell, /auction, /emote NOT to kill him...they still claimed "oh, i didn't see you say anything".
So, its BACK to LGuk for me, but can anyone suggest why this isn't working for me or what i'm doing wrong? I put in a /petition and the GM that responded gave me back the Empty Ink Vial and said that the quest is working properly.

I'm having the exact same issue... I charmed him, then cast Collaboration (+300 faction) and he still just croaks at me and gives me nothing back... I've done this three times. It's really annoying running all the way to Qeynos to get a vial just to have this guy ***** me.... What's going wrong? Anyone able to do this successfully?

just a little helpful hint i went in the aqueducts by the warrior guild, when i entered the zone i changed into gnome form and con'd the skellys up the hall a little on the right...casted collaboration which gave me "scowls at you dubiously" faction that was enough for me to get the vail from reania.(sry some things may not be spelled right hehehe)

ok im getting mixed answers on killing the fish..Reania cons indiffrent so u dont have to kill the fish to talk to her just makes it easier to get to her. i didnt ask the right question the 1st time..my bad..got nuked for 2k when i tried to faction mod her to get her to talk. ur definitly gonna take some big damage if u dont have faction with bloodsabers fyi..so kill the fish..**** off the clerics..better them then whatever blasted me.

just tried to get the vial off reania..didnt get it tho..so i mgonna try to kill the fish and see if i dont get hammered to death this attemp.

To really find Reania, she's in the ShadowKnight part, past all the Spectre's or whatever =P. She is Human, with i guess a pink/red robe on. They all have pets, so she does have her chanter pet out. Good Luck =D. Yes in Temple of Life, in the sewers of Qeynos.

Lionpaws, your directions are terrible. I followed them and there is no entrance to the sewers of Qeynos through the Temple of Life. Does anyone know how to get to or where Reania is?

To get the empty vial for the ink of the dark. Just go to the pool under the The Temple of Life in Nqeynos and kill the fish about 6 times. This will get you faction up so you can speak with Reania Jukle but not get your faction down with the guards in Qeynos so bad that you are KOS. Once you have done this go to the catacombs and find Reania. Read the rest of the of the posts on this topic and they are very helpful.
