This thing is great i love it they usually go for 28k-35k on druzzil ro so im gonna get one soon i hope... will be a nice replacement from my black silk cap
Seems my original post on this was wrong. The recommended tag isn't broken anymore, but it's still not always clear. Some items you can equip at any level, some you need to be close to the level, and others the recommended tag it a lvl limit. I think it has something to do with the effects on items. IE is it has flowing thought it's more likely to restrict useage than a straight stat based piece. Still it seems at least for now there is now wayto be sure until someone can test each item indidually.
If it say "required level of XX" then you must be that level. If it says "Recommended level of XX" then you must be that level to get all the benefits of the item, but can use prior to that level. The third instance is "required level of xx, Recommende level of XX" where the required level is lower than the recommended level and is the minimum level to equip but at reduced benefits, while the recommended you gain the full benefits.
There was a problem with many Cazic Thule zone drops that had required levels, but listed Recommended levels instead. This was recently changed, prior to PoP where all the former Cazic "Recommended" items that could not be equipped until XX level - they now read Required level.
I have a few items that have the "recommended level" of 53, but I can equip them. However, I have reduced stats in a few areas, which get less-and-less as I approach the recommended level.
However, I believe that several posts point out that Cazic Thule drops act differently. I recently (last night) purchased a drop from that zone (recommended 51...) and could NOT equip it. I was told to ignore the "cannot equip due to race/class/deity" message, and just wait to equip at lvl 51.
Now, there are new items that say "recommended lvl 46, required 60". Talk about confusing!!! Now, some recommended are recommended - some recommended are required, and now some have BOTH recommended and required. Come on, Sony, please make it clearer for us players!!! It took weeks to get the coins to buy an item, and now I have to wait 3 levels to equip it. In that time, the value will be 40% less in the Bazaar, and I could have purchased something better by then...
I got this cap today and omg what a difference i have seen this mob up in the 3 times we have been to cazic its a rare spawn and i got the second one that dropped. well i decided to go out and try and to my amazement Icy Spear of Solist did 1400+ damag and i crited for 2030 which is very nice pre-sunstrike and no aa points. I like the look....hut hut HIKE....anyway aquiring this cap is very great for us wizards dealing out more damage is definatley a plus to what we already can do. Good luck to all =)

It is not no drop. It sells for about 15k to 20k, on Bristlebane, right now, although I expect it to drop sometime. The warrior 44/44 is only going for 5k now, so I have a feeling that the other class specific items will soon drop to that price, seeing as that they are very common (I've won this hat twice, and I've only camped maze twice.)
all i can say is you are super lucky because we have spent about 30 hours in maze and only seen this cap two times let alone win the roll on this 2 times.
now if only this had stats compaired to the melee gear from cazic. imho they should put some hps on there, as well as a couple resists, if its a spider put some damned poision resists. with the level that this gear is coming from(atleast 57+ to get the drop or 51+ to buy) your probably looking at 10-12 ac 25-50 hps and 50/75 mana..
there is a relitvly easy quest that nets you a cap:
12ac 7str 5 dex int wis 50 hps 75 mana 5 sv cold/fire/magic. and some sort of effect though not for wizzy, and that can be done in a day.

This cap is on par with much of the other gear in Cazic. The Circlet of Falinkan you mention is not a quest that can be done in a single day. It requires a 24 hour spawn in DN, a 1-2 group kill in GD, and two mobs in Kael, one of which requires 2 groups and has a PH. Sure, if you luck out and have 2 groups at hand that feel like devoting a day to getting you equipment instead of exping and all the mobs happen to be up, then you might get this quest done in a day. There is a reason the Circlet of Falinkan has such good stats. Even if you are above the 200 INT mark, this cap still gives you 100+ mana at 60, quite a large amount for any piece of armor.
This cap is one of the few droppable pieces of armor with IMproved Damage III. The other one I know of is a White Dragonscale Cloak which, even with the new changes that allow the quest to be done with a hide instead of scale, does not enter the market often. Any 60 wizard to be awarded or win this cap that I know would be elated. Complaining over a lack of poison resist is the silliest thing I've heard all day
This cap is awsome but get ready to pay :-( I bought this yesterday on the Tunare server. The guy wanted 15K but got it for 12K. I cringed when I gave him the pp but... as I went back out to get some exp. my worries were washed away. Icecomet now hits for 1300+ (still hits for the dreaded 200+ on occasion). I also have the Obulous Death Shroud which some people says is junk, but these do work together! When I cast I see the effect for my cap... then cast... the I see effect from my ODS. (ODS is mana preservation3) I have to say this is awsome, I kill much faster and have to med alot less. I was lucky enough to also have KEI cast upon me and with these to items I did not hardly ever have to med! Anyways... get them now while you can becouse I dont think they will be as easy to get when people actualy start putting effect items together as notice exactly what the possibilies are.
thats tight man.. anyone that says mana preserv sux must be a tank =P lol cause when u have 2800m anything to make u gain mana back faster is a big plus!~!!! lol.. im sure my fellow wizzys will agree.. and the 20% more dmg thats awesome!! 12k not bad at all man! thats very cheap.. most these items dmg go for about 30k on the seventh hammer.. i will look at seeing what this one goes for! =P or maybe i can get my guild to get four grps n go kill some mosquitos.. im a lil low for cazic still ... almost everything there is red to me at lvl 53 lol so i will have to lvl up n go! woot.. i love the new changed items!.. i got a necklace of insight for free! about a week before the new changes on items came out.. for porting someone hehe.. the price of it went from 3k to 4-5k jus for having the III on it lol.. gotta love that! =) good luck guys.. advice to wizzys get both the items and casting haste III to!! the three together will make u twice the caster! specially wizzys! taygarr wiz of the 53rd season on the seventh hammer
depends on what level you are for spell casting haste. if you are below level 60, spell casting haste has almost nothing for you in an exp group. spell casting haste wont touch anything with less then a 3 second casting time(thus no haste on draughts), however if your 60, your most likely gonna be using sunstrike, and/or ice spear depending on where your hunting, in which case the casting time will be reduced.
Liaisa 60 Wizard Officer of Logic Of War 7th Hammer
Spell haste effects everything with a casting time of 3.0 or greater. So, it DOES affect draughts. Draughts go from 3.0 to 2.5, and become almost absurdly fast. Makes you think back to your newb days of casting while meleeing ;-)
+3 AC, +6 Str, +55 Mana, and Improved Damage 3 are much nicer for a wizard than the +10 Cha, +5 Sta, +8 Magic Resist, and +10 HP, even with the -1 Int. There just isn't any comparison, really.

As to if the Improved Damage 3 is worth it, let me assure you that it is. Casting Draught (653 @ 53) I usually land for around 730 to 750, with a max of 783.
Carmine turban is nice enough, but Dmg 3 is awesome. If you can pursuade someone to loan you a droppable dmg3 focus (like white dragonscale cloak or mask of the dragonslayer) I'm sure you'll agree.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Jun 10 2002 at 7:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THIS is now a very nice item. MUCH better than the Frog Crown I was wearing earlier. I am one of the luckiest wizards on The Rathe. Thanks Keepers of Oak :o)
The effect was changed to Improved Damage III. Much more useful, seeing as that it is a wizard only cap. It is not no drop, and has a recommended level of 51. In the inventory it looks like cloth, and on my High Elf Wizard, an ugly, red, plate-like look.
Drops off of a semi-rare Toxic Jungle Hunter spider near the wizard portal area. I am told anyway. The two normal spiders there are the place holders. Not sure if one or both are the PHs. A very nice trabe-able head item for wizards. Gotta love extra STR as well. :D
Pretty neat, VI gave a new graphic out. It will show up as a Red Cowl, which hangs just past the shoulder. That was on a High Elf. Was nice to see something new on a wiz.
