anyone else notice that the original post was by j somethin or other, and the replay saying its rare and nerfed is a name that looks spur of the moment starting with a j? kinda like having a second ebay account bump the price for ya lol
Rare drop eh? Well I see 2 or 3 being sold every week in bazaar. Maybe those who had them are giving them up en mass? They are typically 50 - 60kpp in ooc and trader modes.
Question: How does one actually know that a drop has been nerfed? Does SOE publish a list of "NERFED" items? In the patch message does it say an item gets "NERFED"? Or is it actually people who farm the items spreading rumors that an item is nerfed in order to inflate the price?
I heard Bone Chips got nerfed, and I am selling stacks for 2000pp each! Please send me a /tell so we can deal! :P
The boots still drop normally and the price is holding steady at 50 - 60k. with more people getting burned out with EQ and leaving the game, and with the expansions released every few months, and with EQ2 comming out later this fall (SOE's statement, not my own), prices are falling on just about every tradable item in the game. Just be patient and get these for 55kpp average price.
If they don't sell for that price on your server, find a server where they do sell for that (Stormhammer being one). Watch the auction channels on other servers and make deals. Here is a secret I use to get REASONABLE prices for items:
On Stormhammer, people there can move their characters from ANY server back and forth from home server to $tormhammer (notice that $ :P) for FREE. So get the channel name and password for $tormhammer's auction channel (auction:lockedup), and make a deal with a seller. Takes a few days to complete the deal, but the money saved is well worth it on many items. Works like this:
You see an Uber item selling on stormhammer for 100k less than your server (yes that happens alot). You send a tell to stormhammer seller asking them to sell you that uber item. Explain that you are on a different server and will offer them a tip for taking the time to create a mule on your server, then transfering that mule up to stormhammer (takes about 2 hours to make the automated transfere up to Stormhammer). Once their mule is on stormhammer, they transfer the item to mule, then petition to have mule returned to your server with item (this can take up to 5 days, 2-4 typically). They then meet you on your server, make the transaction, and then move their mule with cash, back up to stormhammer (again takes about 2 hours). HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
Stormhammer people get the privilage of doing that and not having to pay the $50.00 fee to move characters across servers. Also, there are less than 8,000 people/accounts on $tormhammer. This allows almost all zones to be farmed constantly. It is also not uncommon to goto Rathe Mnts, Grey, UP, SolB, CT, Ssra Temple, ect., and be the only person in the zone! Getting groups sucks on $tormhammer at times if one is not hunting in the "newer" zones. I have bought and sold and will continue to do so in this fashion.

Ummm...I can understand that ye may have read that these were No Drop in Allakhazam (becasue they are sometimes slow to update). But if ye actually PLAY EQ, then ye would have known that these haven't been No Drop for some time now...well b4 yer post anyway. Spend alittle time in the Bazaar or on Trade channels b4 ye decide to post something that may make YOU sound like the Idiot =)

These are not recommended 51, they are REQUIRED 51. I've been /petitioning for 3 weeks now trying to get an answer to when I could equip them, and finally tonight a GM told me they are not recommended, by design ;(

That is just gay, sucks for the other people in the group who would actually have USED them. It's greedy people like that who contribute to jacking up the prices like that. /rude
No it doesn't. I don't know CT loot all that well, but let's say I'm hunting in Seb. As a pure caster, there's very little loot there for me....especially on the first floor. Should I never get a shot at the vast majority of loot, simply because I'll sell it?
Of course not. I get the loot, I sell it and I buy something else, perhaps boots of flowing slime.
Alternatively should I not have had a roll (and subsequent win) of a Fungus Tunic? IF not, then why would I even bother hunting there?
I agree too. I have a post in another thread where I rant on this very topic. Need before Greed is great and all...i mean if you are in a tight guild where you know you wont get left out for loot...but if you arent then EVERYONE should get to roll.
I mean you are there fighting and dying too. Whatever your class theres an area where stuff DOESNT drop for you. If you want us to come into these areas to help port you out or tank for ya, give us a shot at the loot.
Yes, these are droppable, in fact I have a pair for sale on the Rathe. Can't place them on the for sale lists here though I guess because they are marked no drop.

Posted:Jun 11 2002 at 10:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL..on Saryrn these go for 80k. LMAO! I mean...the mana is nice...but FT3? THAT IS A GOD DAMED BREEZE! I would kill to get these boots and they would replace my Coldain skin, but I would not pay a Cp over 30k for them.
I agree with some of what you say, yes, the fact that FT3 = breeze is absolutely correct, but when you really break it down, Adding 3 per tick to C3 is a very sizable chunk of extra mana... especially if you add the common range item drop off Zelithinak in umbral (FT2 no other stats), and an earring of the solstice... you are dealing with FT6 right there, which is quite substantial (clarity level in fact), and stacks with C3... that's noticeable. And considering how rare decent droppable caster items are, I can see people spending much more than 80k for these boots, heck most of my lvl 60 caster friends have 150k+ pure cash sitting in the bank just because there is NOTHING better that is droppable that they can buy for pure casters.

Posted:Aug 05 2002 at 3:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually breeze is a 1point tic. Clarity at 29 is a 2 point tic so FT3 is like a lvl 30 clarity.
Don't know about you, but FT gear adds up nicely on me. I'm up to 8 pts of FT with these and 2 from Mental Clarity and another 6 from Blessed Armor of the Risen.
That's 16 pts of mana regen without a chanter nearby.

I also play on Torvo and if you have ever joined the trade channel you would realize the going price on them is actually 60k. I managed to buy my boots for 50k but I got a good deal from someone in an uber guild.
Anyhow not to disrespect someone I dont even know, why is it people post on these message boards that they are selling/buying items? I am willing to bet little to no sales have ever taken place going this route. Use the trade channel or EC like everyone else if you actually expect to sell your item.

Posted:Jun 04 2002 at 12:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have seen this for sale on the rathe for about 60-70k i was wanderding y verant would go so far as to make this the VERY FIRST FLOWING THOUGHT ITEM THAT IS DROPABLE IN THE WHOLE GAME
Sorta looked like leather to me, the color was a very dark brown though (saw them on another high elf). I'm hoping they look nicer with Blessed Full Mithril then my Tribal War Boots (which are my current favorite feet).
On me (druid) they look like normal boots with a brown/blackish slimy look to it. I think they look pretty nice personally though no where near as flashy as the GEBs I replaced them with.
other way around I think. I used to see people talking about buying them, and I went into Cazic recently and we had to roll on the spot among the casters there because it wasn't droppable
A friend of mine said to try these on. It should have worked with me being a human druid of karana.I tried it on and it said "your race/class or diety may not equip this item". Could anyone tell me why?
I was lucky enough to win the roll on these. Some friends from the guild got together and we decided that any earrings that drop the melees roll on and any bootsthat drop the casters roll on.
Group was all 59 and 60 and this camp is not exactly what I'd call easy. The mobs hit for like 200 and they hit fast, you really want someone to slow them if possible. You absolutely also want to have a ShadowKnight or paladin in teh group to taunt the mobs, a warrior just doesnt cut it, we tried earlier with a warrior instead of the SK and the chanter just kept dying cause the warrior, despite being great at his job, just cannot taunt fast enough.
Shadowknight, Monk, Rogue, Druid(me), Cleric and Enchanter. I was lucky to even get into the group but luckier yet top see these drop within the first hour AND win the roll on em :)
They have very nice stats for a druid with the mana, hp's, and magic resist but let's face it people want that flowing thought 3. Heheh.
As a level 60 druid with Mask of the Hunter Self only manaregen buff (3 per tick), PotG group manaregen buff(6 per tick), Mental Clarity 1 (1 per tick) and these boots (3 per tick), my self buffed manaregen is 13 a tick, KEI is 14 a tick :)
On my server these currently sell for like 100 k, people ask for 125 k, and really they are probably worth it, except that you know they are gonna become more common and the price will drop.
Think about how much time and effort it takes to just get a flowing thought 1 item like the thurgadin shawl compared to these. These are the FBSS of flowing thought- If you have a high enough level group and are willing to spend the time you CAN get a good ft item now. It's about time they started adding WORTHWHILE caster loot, and better yet, kickass melee earrings also drop in the same camp so there's something for everybody. Good move Verant :)
These boots drop off "a swirling red mass", a level 60 red pool of slime in the sewer area.
These are now droppable, but also have a minimum level of 51 to wear them. I don't think it's possible to twink with these because of that, but at the same time I'm unsure of the exact meaning of minimum level requirements.
I got to wear them a bit before we rolled on them (wasn't quite a pickup group, but wasn't a guild-only group either so rolls were necessary). Basically, FT3 is 3 mana per tick (a tick is 6 seconds), so that boils down to 30 extra mana per minute. It helps, sure, but don't expect to wear these and see your mana regening up like crazy. Of course 30 mana a minute is very nice, but it's not 'that' noticable.
My ONLY gripe is the poor AC on these. Regardless though, these are indeed some of the best tradeable caster/priest boots in game.
ok, so you can't use it at lvl 20, but what lvl can you equip it at? i heard a rumor saying it was only equipable at 51+ like club of the ice ocean? anyone know
I was told mana regen is based on your meditate skill. So 200 meditate means you get 200 mana per min. ex. 20/tick. Each point of FT would would add an extra 20/tick.
If you have ever had C2 and bard mana song on you would understand it's more than 30 per min. I have 2650 mana and it takes only a few mins to fill up after a fight.
My word! Some dumb info out there. Yes, you can estimate the amount of mana (it isn't exact) you get per minute while *medding* from your meditate skill level, but FT = 1 mana per tic regardless per level. this is why FT items are really not that meaningful for casters, as they are usually (unless a kiting druid/wizzie) sitting for most of fights. FT does far more for hybrids or casters that kite as staning you have a base of 1 mana per tic (outside of clarity/FT/aa abilities), and these boots by them selves quadruple your mana regen while standing if you have nothing else with FT or clarity or mental clarity.

"this is why FT items are really not that meaningful for casters"
Are you crazy? Mana is a pure casters lifeblood. Yes, when you think about it, FT1 = 1 mana/tick = 10 mana per min and it doesnt sound like much, but it adds up. FT is to caster as haste is to melee. More FT = more mana = more casting. At the time of this post, I have 3 items adding up to FT7 + MC3 = 10 mana/tick (C2 = 11 mana/tick). That is very significant.
Aye..whoever wrote that is flat out an imbecille. Yes when people who think they are uber get one FT item it doesnt seem like much, but if you are dedicated and have good groups you can stack them and the effect is ...well IMPRESSIVE.
My Shaman currently has 4 FT items for a total of FT6 (2 x FT1,2 x FT2) and it is noticable.
So if you dont have the items, dont post. And if you really did have more than one item you would know this isnt just for hybrids. Sigh..there should be a test for posting on these boards.
I have FT9 from items thank you very much, and the point still stands as it was meant, as a response to people making stupid claims that boots of flowing slime are a caster only item, the fact is I know far more hybrids wearing them than casters.
I didn't say it was worthless to a pure caster, I said it wasn't worth as much because they spend much of their time medding, versus a hybrid that is almost never sitting. Its called relative effectiveness.
