my Classic druid was tired of running from thistle after close fights, finally got to lev 24 and got CRud, so tracked him down and nailed him (Just!) got the +5 shoulders, wis now 132. )
If there's any need for confirmation... Killed Bracken twice and Thistle twice. Bracken dropped the cords on the second time. See date for time confirmation. :p
Went into LFay last night looking for these. Found Thistle right away, tracked him, found him, nuked him a lot, and he had the rune, a 'brownie torso', and the cords. First try and I'm lucky!
Yep the focus on the cords is now changed. Been a while but I sold my cords a ways back after I finished up coldain shawl 4 quest. Used to be that these shoulders had Reagant Conservation III. I actually like that focus better. Since I have neither Levitation nor Everlasting Breath yet, when I wore the cords it saved me a bunch of bat wings and fish scales when I was huntin with my group/guild in diff zones that require those. I dont worry too much about SOW cast speed but I can see kind of how the focus matches the item/mob a little better than it did before. I just seem a tad surprised that verant would tweak this item when I dont see it was off base in its old form. Maybe they thought having a 3rd lvl focus on a lower-level mob was not balanced, but hey, its just reageant conservation not something great like Affliction Duration. Now that would be unbalanced to have Affliction Duration III on this item.
yea, but the risk vs reward is pretty fair ballance since you have to be in evel brownie country for it. I mean with old focus. I read the new focus and I dont understand...
1: Increase Spell Haste by 30% 2: Limit: Max Level(20) 3: Limit: Min Duration(72.00 sec) 4: Limit: Min Casting Time(1.00 sec) 5: Limit: Spell Type(Beneficial only)
Its greek to me. Does that mean the spells I cast will be faster? uhhhh
I went to get em with my Druid and on track found his buddy Bracken underbrush... so to kill time I went and killed him to my great surprize he dropped Braided Ivy Cords =) so its not only Thristle underbruh that drops em
i was camping the brownie camp getting brownie parts. after clearing out the camp, i was medding, got half way up to full, and there standing in the middle of the camp was Thistle underbrush. he con'd green to me so i nuked away. He dropped the cords, rune and parts
Well, this was interesting. I was randomly killing things with names (got a LarkTwitter arrow also) Then I see this brownie zoom pass me. I used track since i had him target (he apparently stopped to cast some sort of spell) I tracked him. I killed him three times, then wondering What the rune was for, I come here. I find out that he drops these, and I kill him one last time, and there they were, Braided Ivy Cords. A huge upgrade from my Leather Shoulderpads.
Oh, just to let you knopw, he's basically a lv 24 druid and pretty proficient in a way of kiting. He rooted me and then DoTed me... Still couldn't stand up to constant nuking from me tho.
The Rune you speak of is the Ivy Etched Rune. Its the one needed for Rangers to complete the quest to earn the Ivy Etched Tunic. It must be turned in with a few other pieces to a Ranger Npc in the Ranger guild area of Kithicor Forest.
Just want to post that Thistle's relative Bracken Underbrush carries and drops the same items as Thistle. Was doing my Initiate quest and he attacked me, weird as he conned green to me, but dropped the cords. hope this helps
I was hunting this guy in LFay for about and hour, with a friend, (who helped me get the TOV a few levels back, Thanks Enilegna), and were both druids, I am 34, and she was 31 I think, we kept finding him in the +500,+500 area, not to far from the path, and each time, we killed him quick, 4 loots of the rune of ivy, and 3 bags of mistletoe, some brownie parts. Finally on the 5th kill or so, he dropped the Cords, It was her turn to loot, and I am glad she got braids, she deserved them. After all, if not for her I wouldnt have the Testament of Venear. Thanks Enilegna, we gotta kill that little bugger again soon, hehehe !
Bah, lucky. My 32 druid and my 57 bard friend had been running all over lfay for most likely 24+ hours killing Thistle over a period of three days and he never dropped them. I ended up suckering out and buying them from a surly Wood Elf. However, I did do the Initiate of Tunare quest while we were there. :D
#REDACTED,
Posted:Jun 11 2002 at 2:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As soon as I saw what these were capable of I sent a call to guildies and a bard friend answered. The bard is level 29 and happy to have a haste item. It is all to easy to go to wolf form and hunt Thistle Underbrush without the problem of other Brownies. Thistle is a mid level Brownie that drops Mistle toe powder (low level charm animal) and a rune of Ivy (for Ranger's Ivy etched Tunic)Also a good source of Brownie parts. I have almost a full stack to practice wedding cakes.
I'll tell you, after I was pleasantly suprised to find ANOTHER item I had had a new effect on it. I was kinda down that it was lvl one and seem useless to me, being 44.
It wasn't until SoW wore off and saw the message, "Your Braided Ivy Chords Shimmer" or what ever I realized this is NOT useless to us Druids at all.
What is one of the most popular buffs requested? SoW. This speeds up cast time by almost 2 secs. Makes a huge dif it it drops when a mob is on you, or just plain buffing. These also work on Superior Camo, so they must work up to spell lvl 20.
Point is, if you have thesem, they still have a purpose other than the +5 Wis to us Druids.
I found this guy on track just in time to watch him die from a group of NPC's. But he respawned about 10-15 min later. He was at about -500, 2500. I doubt the shoulderpads are still rare, I got these on 1 kill. If they are rare, then I guess I'm lucky.
Okay this may sound odd but I want to kill this guy because he looks like Nillipuss. So, anyways I got a level 38 Monk that punches at 34 max and flying kicks for about 81. I want to kill him soloing. And i was wondering if i could?
Thistle runs around at SoW speed. Without a tracker you probably won't be able to find him, and without SoW you won't be able to catch him.
Basically, your only chance at getting Thistle without help as a monk is to get extremely lucky and have him find you. And at level 38, he might not aggro on you, which lowers your chances even further. And even if you are lucky enough to engage him in melee, good luck killing him since he runs when low on health, and since Thistle is very green to you, he will most likely run early while he can still run at full speed.
My advice: Unless you have tracking and SoW/Selo's, don't even bother trying to hunt him.
Going after him cause he looks like Nillpuss I hear you there brother but just like when I was a getting started in Rivervale you'll need help on this one. Just mention that nillpuss thing and you'll probably get a couple people willing to help just cause of that. Just make sure you ask up in GFay
He stole a whole stack of silk threads that tooks me hours to gather so I know I'd go after it with a vengance and help anyone who wanted to as well
Kilt this lil clown the other day. needed his rune for my ivy etched tunic, got the braided cords as i bonus i guess. how much are these things going for on Druzzil Ro? Oh and by the way, cept for his spells the bugger never touched me... i thoroughly enjoyed tearing him apart after the amount of time it took for me to find him.
While working on my tunare symbols I have run into Thistle a lot, i've got 6 braided ivy cords if you count the ones I bought, 5 i've looted myself, he seems to drop them sort of 1/6.
He is up a lot of the time, seems to be random, no place holder, no fixed spawn point.
Im not gonna say that you can, but id think so. I just snared him... that makes SOW go away and then some. He resisted once, but thats ok had plenty of time to pop off another while fighting him. Hope that helps, and hope you can snare or run very very fast.
Been campin' Kayalia Windwhisper on the Quellious servor for the past four days now, and have tons of these after killin' Thistle every time I see him on track on my uncle's ranger. Sold one to some guy who wanted to twink his newbie druid for a hundred platinum. Would throw all of them away just to see Kayalia Windwhisper on track once.
I think it's sad that there are posts here like "I killed this guy like 15 times and no cords! WTF" I camped the fungus mutant in uGuk and killed him 65 times (and it only spawns 4 times an hour so yes, thats like 16 hours straight) and never saw the degenerated Guk Weed, so dont cry when you kill something 10 or 15 times w/o a rare drop, instead go see a REAL rare drop... =D went back to the elemental earlier today and blew another 8 hours and no weed =(
