A valiant effort, but is it a lost cause? For every account you ban, they will just get another, no?

You buy a game.
You have to pay a monthly fee to be able to play the game you already paid for. You have to pay someone else to play for you because you think the game is boring.

Why did you buy the game?
Why do you still play the game?

Boycott the game, not the farmers.

I knew there had to be something to cause the price of metals to skyrocket recently on Elune. With a bunch of farmers out of the picture, there isn't as much metal being mined, but the gold is still in the economy. Hence, high prices.

In one day I had reported 15 cases or gold farming bots, 7 cases of hackers, and 4 cases of bot/gold selling/account selling sites.
Blizz acctually listened to all my reports and now on my server i am frequently wispered by a GM on what i have found out so far. I have gotten tons and tons of people ally/horde banned for good reasons not like "They killed me" or "Tehy yelled at me" no for botting or gold farming or being a hacker.

This will never stop gold farming, they will always be around. Waste of time.

What would be nice is to pull some people form the banning/suspending accounts department, and put them into the Server/Performance department and fix the freakin problems.

They do it cause most of the time it's really a company doing it and they buy mass amounts of accounts at a time to farm gold with, after which they hire offseas workers to grind the characters on them to 60 and flood the AH and trade channels.

Their real motivation - money. And believe me, they got plenty of it from doing it before, and as long as they still have some fight left in them (which they probably do) they'll keep doing it.

Of Course with the money the farmers make, they will just buy more software, grind the characters back in short time and be right back in business.

Just eating up more of Blizzard's time.

One possable solution would be for Blizz to actually be the one selling the in game currency, then they could price the farmers out of business and destroy the economy themselves.

This is what Second Life does..it seems to work. You can freely trade real$ for online$. They track the price like a commodity.

Either Blizz pulls their head out of the A$$ and takes all our money by allowing a gate in and out for $ or we continue to buy gold online.

Oh yeah - don't forget about the 10 day passes - so valuable for receiving gold WITH OUT putting your lvl 60 in direct risk.

Great game Blizz, time to pull your shorts up and fasten the belt again. You've created a monster and it perfers sodomy.

C'mon - 1000 gold for under $50 - how long would it take for me to ge 1k?

My (RL) services are billed at $60/hour. Is there a way to make 1k in 50 minutes?

Not with out some speed (not a haste reference there kiddies).

Should I be happy for taking advantage of third world income?

Should I feel ashamed?

Or should Blizz keep the N. America servers for the N. Americans? Ban IP-s that are from India or indonesia?

How about this--and character that is on 24/7 in Mara is prolly farming. I have a whole slew of farmer on my (now mia) friends list. These characters are ALWAYS on!

The server reports that Blizz gets are many times greater than the server reports I run - If my reports were for WoW servers I could tell you who to ban very easily.

And another damn note :: This situiation is larger than gaming - we have a black market economy in effect, we have abse of people, abuse of WoW policy, inappropriate prift..and so on. This is the same as me trying to profit from the Air Jordan symbol. I would be crused by (the dirtbags at) Nike.

Anyway, your point about paying for gold so you don't have to play the game is an interesting one. Why don't more people take that approach? Instead of practicing baseball, people could pay other people to practice for them, then just buy themselves a trophy. What fun! What an accomplishment! Or instead of hiking all the way up a mountain, they could pay someone to climb the mountain for them, then buy a photo from the summit. What joy! What memories!

Accomplishment comes from work. Buy gold and you might as well buy yourself a sign that says "This game is too hard for me!" And all the bought enchants and epics in the world won't make you as good a player as the folks who actually earned them.

Great news... except that a friend I know was banned because his toon was given the wrong saved instance ID (resulting in him being in his own private instance and not in the raid he was in), on a night where the server was being more than a little twitchy (Dragonblight, ofc). So he logged another character on the same account to get into the 'right' instance as the raid really needed him. For some reason his 1st character ended up with 2 IDs, so guess what the results were... :(

I hope this is resolved fairly as I would hate to see ppl wrongly banned because of a fault in the game/server. Ofc, I have every confidence in Blizzard in this matter.......

And Blizzard have done good this time: my friend is back, woohoo, which is really good as my husband swears he is one of the best healers in our guild :)

Okay, not that I myself would enjoy non-legit playing, I'd like WoW to be 100 % legit as well, but Blizz's problem is, they sometimes ban accounts without having sufficient evidence of the person using 3rd-party software, exploiting, etc. Neither do they make the effort they need to do. They (sometimes, sometimes no at all) computer generated message about the persons account being banned, instead of themself giving an explanation of why, when, and so on. So awesome isn't the right word to use when we're talking Blizz and customer support, I'm afraid. Sorry, had to point that out.
