I read this article. I am continually amazed at the professional and cooperative sounds that come from Mythic. I can't be sure why I have such a good feeling; because of their optimistic and wonderful picture they paint for their game in my mind, or the fact that it isn't EQ (and thus untainted by the issues I've developed with the game) nor AO (and thus doesn't appear to be dropped in the mud and squat upon by a rhinoceros before packaging and sending to the stores as a "completed" product).
I hope their same approach and attitude remain when they start getting the predictable bombardment of hate mail and flames on the webpages like Verant did. Actually, I hope nobody gets hate mail and flames.
EB World Interviews Mark Jacobs
EB World put up an interview with Mythic President Mark Jacobs. Here's an excerpt of what he had to say:
I think our trade skill system is far more robust than anything out there. It offers the opportunity for a player to make money simply being a crafter; they don’t have to fight. You do not have to kill one single monster in order to have success as a merchant. We thought that would be very attractive to players who enjoy trade skills as something to do in a spare moment, to help sharpen a sword or repair armor, but also for the people who really just like crafting and socializing. That’s one of the things we have done better.
