Donate to the Japan Relief Effort!

On March 11, 2011 a devastating earthquake, followed by a tsunami, hit Japan. The country is in desparate need of help and EverQuest II is encouraging players to do their part.

Earlier today a new section was introduced to the Marketplace dedicated to the Japan relief effort. A single item called Memory of Spring is listed in it, costing 500 Station Cash, with a description explaining that funds from its sale will be donated to the cause.

To purchase this item, go into the Marketplace in game (by using the /marketplace command or the EQII game menu) and choose the "Japan Relief Effort" category. The item is not lore so you can purchase multiples if you are so inclined. It is currently unknown how long the donation section will be available for--we'll update you as more details are released.

UPDATE: This category disappeared from the Marketplace late on 3/18, but we are hopeful it will make a return based on a forum comment by Amnerys.

UPDATE: The donation items made a return on March 25th, and will be available through March 28th. See this article for more information.

What a worthy cause, and glad SOE is doing something to help these poor people.

Thanks for the info! I completely missed the message by Amnerys during my late night checking of characters and such. Hope all gets worked out with the red tape.

The Japan Relief Effort category has been missing from the Marketplace since late Friday evening. Do you have any inside info when or if it will return?

I saw that on the forums, was hoping that maybe it was a mistake and it'd be back. :( Amnerys did post this the day before people said it disappeared:

SOE is still working on getting items ready in many of our games that will support relief efforts. Please keep an eye out for the announcement when we're ready to release them. There's a bit of red tape involved in organizing support, especially when our parent company is Japanese. We're just officializing everything before we hit the go button.

It's possible that they released it too early, so maybe we'll see it again next week. *crosses fingers*
