this and that

I use the gates item that increases damage up to 20% in my ranged slot from the GoD expansion i belive but im not one to quote. I too am looking into higher damage and that 1600 damage can be acheved unfortunatly not on players tho. I do agree with firebird in the point that people like myself seem to forget what clerics are supposed to do. I rely on damage alot but im on the Zek server and have been attacked by the main tank on more than one ocasion for saying OOM. Maby it wouldnt happen if i could heal better, faster, longer. All i know is when that tank assaults me and I can hold my own and possably kill him its a great fealing especially the shock when everyone sees a 1k cleric nuke land. My point, I never go anywhere with out this spell loaded but dont loose sight of your class as I did and unless your on a PVP server your diging up information on the wrong spell.

Its pretty sad that clerics are pretty much only good at rezzing ppl. Then its where are the clerics??? But it is nice when your in a group with ppl for them to be saying OMG your not completely usless!! do yourself a favour throw on your unswerving hammer, as a nice little dps, toss on a few of these higher lvl nukes, and hey summon your hammer of the souls and HIT THE MOB some, played right clerics are now a lovely DPS assist class. We aren't ment to solo things but we are great at rezzing and dishing out some decent sized damage.... mind you this doesn't work well on raids.

P.S. beef up your nukes with AA and improved damage III or IV items. I have seen this nuke land for just shy of 1600.

Sad Quote from misguided Healer.
"It's pretty sad that clerics are pretty much only good at rezzing ppl."

I do not understand what is so confusing about the Cleric class. Your Job is to Heal your group and keep them alive. Sometimes This is no eazy job and no other class can take the place of a good cleric. Now if you are one of those very, very , very bad Clerics who has a mind set of using one heal all the time ( Complete Heal ) yes my friend you have made yourself as useless as your Box Cleric Mentor.

I will be the first to say raids have never been my cup of tea because a Cleric is forced into this rigid C-heal chain of boring. It appears to me that you spend many hours in such a role with your guild. Because a Druid and a Shaman can replace you in such a role you feel yourself useless. All I can say is a Raid is not the measurement of a Great Cleric.

I have seen Time Geared Clerics from large raid guilds that were the worst group healers. You have to get the thrill of saving lives in the heat of battle to be a good cleric. Show me a back up healer who can keep a 7.8k hp tank going in MPG or that can keep the whole group alive after everyone is suprised by an add in MPG (sorry chanter and bard dont have lv 70 mez yet Just you healing the one average tank). Good luck on finding Cleric who can do that let alone a back up healer. In addition those C-heal chain types who Box Clerics can never do the things a good Cleric can because the time it takes to switch means life and death. Box Clerics seem to know everything and tend to save no one in a pinch.

To be a Great Healer you must first be a Great Group Healer. You have the AA tools to become great and all it takes is a passion to do your job. Things like MGB ,Spell Casting Fury and Improved Damage in my opinion are the things that put you in that Good for nothing but Res role. I have 350 AA's and have not wasted them on anything that doesnt help me to survive or heal my group better. Doing this allows everyone else to do their job which is to deal out the death / dmg instead of helping me to do my job.

Suzycue lv 70 Cleric. Quote:" you are the best group healer I have ever seen"... I get this on a weekly basis by just doing my job. I have no flags or keys to anywhere but OS and the 4th floor of ToFS.

Well said!
I haven't heard many people talk about the importance of staying alert and being able to switch targets and choose the right heal for the job.

Augmented damage
# Jun 20 2004 at 10:19 AM Rating: Decent
Well, This spell does up to 1430 something damage with the moon dancer earring from the sewers and then aa's can bring it up to 1560 or higher criticals. I nuke all the time in Ldon's and my main dissapointment is that it gets resisted by lvl 65 mobs about 30% of the time. But With the Vengeful Gauntlets it only costs 330 mana which is very nice. since SOE has made this a spell that armor focusses on it seems to be a great spell. And when peeps see the Cleric Critical Blasting, well Thanks for a strong spell that is not too embarassing.
damage Ring

I used this with a mages ring to increase damage. the mage said it (the ring he gave me) was equilivant to damage three.

I assume that damage three and the ring have a cap because it did no more than Judgement with the ring on.

Damage III items have a limit of level 60 spells that they'll affect; you would need a damage IV item to see any increase here

I use a mage summoned damage ring with this All the time... works fine...

Depends what mage summoned ring it was. If it was Gallenite's ruby ring, it would indeed have a spell cap of 60, just like ID3. However, if it were Gallenite's SAPPHIRE ring, it would be 65 capped, and therefore work.

So basically, nobody here is wrong, you're just talking about different items.
